WARNING TO ALL! in this video, the blackberry has a battery in but NO MEMORY CARD in it. If you do not remove the memory card, then the step at 2:40 (disconnecting the housing from the circuit board) is impossible without snapping the card in half. Also, there are two screws at the top corners of the screen that need to be removed before the screen can be disassembled.

Could I have damaged the antennae on my BB Curve8530 after I changed the faceplate, it no longer makes or receives calls? so my curve 8530 fell about 4 feet down..it happen so quick i step on it completely..i picked it up and half the screen was white... the other half was hazy white.. couple of hrs later the whole screen was white... phone starts up perfect and i could make and receive calls.. just cant see the screen.. any product suggestions?

This is a great how to video, however almost all of the Blackberry housings being sold right now, are of very poor quality. They dont fit exactly the same, and the most important thing, the home, green and red call keys and back keys dont push down the same they did before the housing switch, because there is a thin rubber layer between the new lcd screen cover and the actual keys themselves, which is hard to take off the old one, and never matches up the same even if you do get it off.

If you get a white screen when you replace the LCD, you probably used the wrong replacement. There are 4 different models for the Curve 8530. From what I've read, three of them are compatible, but the 007/011 is not compatible with the others. For some of them you have to remove the LCD from the metal housing to see the model number, which could break it. For many of the replacements, you'll probably also want to order a metal housing if it doesn't come with it, but they also are cheap.

To take the lens (lcd screen protective cover) off, you can also start from the top near the ear speaker cutout, not at the bottom like he does. Make sure you get under both layers, too, There is the outer layer and then an inner screen cover that only covers the phone's LCD area. I used a thinner piece of plastic than they show, actually a collar stay that I sharpened, and I didn't even mess up the lens. But it is cheap to get a replacement lens if you do mess it up.

Great video. I got a purple bb from my wifes friend after my palm pre died. Now I switched it to a white housing with silver buttons. I didn't have a pry tool so I used a tiny flat blade screw driver and a razor. Just be careful with the razor to not scratch or cut anything on it.

Thanks for the how too. I just used to change my LCD on a 8530. Work of warning to others be very careful when taking off the LCD cover that has adhesive holding it down stay under the black line to prevent bending the clear part it will show if you do. Also use a micro clothe clean LCD and cover before replacing!
