  • is there any way to get a canon xh-a1s to shoot 2FPS? if so, how would i do this?

  • Great video - well done

  • nice work. I'm an op in DC at Wttg. That's a nice rig!

  • KSLA-TV. Shreveport, LA.

  • Looks great, can't wait to try it, which and how much record are you able to record on your P2 card?

    thanks

    JD

  • Record times vary but basically I have (2) 16 GB cards. In HD I can record 34 minutes, 69 minutes natively. I also have a P2 store holding roughly an hour and 20 minutes of footage.

  • @ziocody how do you get the P2 to last so long though? Im sure this entire lapse took more than 34 min

  • @SpahrStudios your P2 cam has ability to overcrank & undercrank. The basic difference is when overcranked the cam operates faster than realtime producing slowmotion video. It also eats up card space, so instead of the 34mins you would get less than 15mins of realtime action. In this video I used undercrank a.k.a. timelapse. The cam operates slower than realtime where everything captured plays back in fast motion. Now card space is hardly an issue and you end up being able to roll for hours

  • @ziocody so is Undercranking a setting or is it just putting the FPS at the lowest rate possible?

  • Hi there, I need to shoot a time laps shoot with this camera, Is it possible to record 2 fps on Mini dv with this camera?

  • Simply wont work with DV. At 2fps your recording time is drawn out dramatically so you could invest in a small card like 4GB. They will run less than $200 on ebay and you can use them over and over. Worth the investment!

  • I have 2 8gb cards, I use the interval option, I works. BTW, what is F3 (SPARK?) and (B-STR) an (FLOR)?

  • backlight would've been nice

  • very nice!

Did you know if Is it possible to shot 1920x1080 intreval rec´s in P2 ?

    Any HD camera does it?

    Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • I was asking because you walked away and it was still raising, so i was just curious if it was automatic or your reporter did it for you. We had a pretty sweet eng yukon at our station but sadly it is out of commission because it was driven in a parking garage that didn't meet the clearance of the mast.

    RIP live truck

  • Did you have your reporter raise the mast? or does it have an auto raise? It sure would be nice to have one of those on one of our stations trucks.

  • The newer ENG trucks require an operator to hold the "raise mast" switch which I think is a good safety feature. This older truck allows the switch to be flipped and raises fully, unattended. I know it's a hassle to have to stand there while the transmitter creeps up but they had your safety in mind when they designed it that way. They figure by attending to the switch you are forced to look around and could possibly spot powerlines you missed when you first parked.

  • Too get the most light I can get in to the camera without blur I use 12dB gain in conjunction with 1/30th shutter.

  • No you don't. But you will have to change the camera mode from video to film. Once you do this you will be able to drop the shutter from 180.0 degrees to 350.0 degrees which will really brighten the image.

  • Do alot of news channels use this cam? Seems kinda flimsy or not up to the task.

  • Its primary drawback is its low light performance (see my other videos). Locally MOST use this cam: KTAL, KMSS & KSLA while KTBS uses BETA. Most recently when news broke of the downed B-52, the Barksdale crew even had one during the news conference resulting in FIVE HVX200s on site. Far from flimsy, aside from the servo there are no moving parts, nothing to fail or repair. Solid state recording has been consistently error free & cost effective for big companies. Im switching to HVX200A in a week

  • Hi Ziocody.. yu used the HVX 200 for this right? Could you please help me? I cant figure out where to go to activate my interval rec/ time-lapse.. thanks

  • sgsiva78 - I cant figure out where to go to activate my interval rec/ time-lapse

he didn't actually shoot it as an 'interval rec'. this is a framerate hack that you can do with the hvx when you save a scene file to a sd card.

this youtube link explains the process.

  • What about firestore?

  • I'm quoting the DVXUser site "P2 [advantage over Firestore] ability to preview overcrank and undercrank effect right in-camera" however "the Firestore offers much longer recording times" All important question "So are you saying that you cannot undercrank or overcrank when using the firestore FS-100?" "you can just cant view it right away like on p2. and u have to use 24P not 24pN" I myself have never used Firestore.

  • Good job m8 :))) keep going :D

  • very nice. is it possible to do this in DV or only P2. Thanks

  • Ahh!!!

    Love this so much!

    This is awsome.

    Tage your it!

  • tres cool. and to think, the suits in producerland think it actually happens that fast.

  • It just goes to show how long it takes to set up the truck and all you get is a few of thoes seconds of work on the tube.

  • Loved that. Nice work.

  • if only live shots could be put up this fast in real time. good idea for a timelapse video btw
