@LindyCompound Krupa does the lip snarl when he's muggin.' xD ..Archer segway.."Why was he dressed up as Hitler?" "wait no, the one with the teeth..Buddy Rich!"
@princesstav tons of us are so inspired by his dancing and ability to entertain! Does your family talk about him much? I've wondered what he was like. If you were able to interview family members who remember your great grandpa James and share, we would be so indebted & excited! =)
Frankie Manning lived so much longer, so it was a real honor to hear him talk about his life and the golden era of the lindy hop at the Savoy. Wish we had the same with Leon James.
I studied swing and lindy in NYC in 1983 all year and learned with Teddie Kern. George Lloyd was my dance partner. I am in Paris France and teach Savoy Lindy to men and ladies. It is a great dance for two ladies together. You have seen nothing like what I can teach you. cute cat faith dot com great posting real fun!
That was amazing. WOW. Those two men had a major influence in jazz dance, I know versions of all those moves, but could NEVER do it like that. WOW. Pioneers.
useless trivia time, the cigarette sponsors of these shows had it in the contracts that the MC would have a lit cig going at all times during the show.

This is the way African Americans hid the African martial arts in the dance in
North America, see how some of the move resemble the African American Martial Art of Capoeria in South America?

The music is good but the dance looks like female movement, I would say those two guys look like gays dancing jazz.
