  • @taylorshred and the "nanny state" was for Communists.

  • The music is a number of period recordings I found on Internet Archive. I think it adds to the sense of what these people were and how they lived.

  • @larrytslater

Wonderful. thanks for putting this where we can all get a glimpse of the Old Days.

  • What is the music?

  • Thank you for this ..... I come back now and then for a visit...

  • People certainly had more freedom then, life was better for not be as regimented as today (and graft more than flourished in Frisco). With the pace of life slower, traffic didn't matter, you just crossed the street, no problem.

  • @merrywriter1 Better? alot of people used to be backward christians back then.... i wouldn't call that better.

  • It's interesting how the drivers side of the cars were on the right side at that time.

  • @IHateJustinBieber8 In the movie "San Francisco" (1936), Mary Blake (Jeanette MacDonald) entered the establishment of Blackie Norton (Clark Gable) looking for a job. Blackie asked her to sing the number that was playing after hearing her voice gave her a job paying $75.00 per week. Calculating the wage based on the modern 40 hour week, it was $1.87 an hour. The average wage being 22 cents, it's no wonder Miss Blake fainted!!

  • Haven't you crazy fuckers ever heard of a crosswalk? Sure, make a u-turn, cut across lanes of traffic, jaywalk, do whatever the fuck you like!
