  • I'm glad they didn't release this piece of shit.

  • Damn Just realized this game came out 5 years ago.

  • @Dukke214 actualy it never was realeased the project was dropped and they stop the process so its just been an unfinished file in the bethesda computers

  • Looks like shit. This is Lovecraft, not fucking resident evil. And why did that girl use magic?

  • Wow, why was this cancelled? I hope someone picks this up.

  • oh what I'd do for this game to exist

  • This would've been a best seller if they didn't give up on it.

  • @MsRedfield97

More like they filed for bankrupcy D:

  • @omgnumbersandletters just like jack pushed wardrobes with his head and could slide down the elevator rope without feet and with both hands on his pistol :D

  • It'd be nice if frictional games, the people who made amnesia, would pick this series back up and do it some justice.

  • @masterfish1234 yeah that would be nice amnesia was just epic i never was so fucking scared.. they would do a very good job i think

  • @masterfish1234 nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Kinda glad they canceled this. One game in and the horror atmosphere has gone *poof*

  • WHY DID THEY HAVE TO CANCEL IT!!??

  • wow !!! It's more gore than Resident evil !!!

  • Thank god this game will never released!

  • I think they didn't release it because they went bankrupt... so sad D: there are so little good "Lovecraftian"/C'thulhu games D:

  • WTF!!!! HOW THEY CAME TO THE TOWER???

  • This game loops like POOP. My god.

Still would have like to play it. Dark Corners of the Earth was great.

  • Awwww, why was this cancelled? Looks better than all of the resident evil games.

  • the development of this title was finished, so why they won't release it as download game for few bucks

  • the first episode was really multibly and this one looks so simple. thy show the whole scheme off in this trailer. maybe they went out of imagination...

  • Wow, I'm... I don't really think this would have been good. It looks like they scrapped the original type of gameplay from the first one and decided to pander to a fps audience and if those were the main characters they don't look as respectable as Jack. I'm almost glad this game never saw the light of day.

And the monsters- when the christ have those ever been in any of Lovecraft's works?

    Freaking disaster.

  • @EvilDizzbudd I'm pretty certain the monsters were from The Horror in the Museum, they're Dimensional Shamblers I think...they fit the description well anyway,

  • @EvilDizzbudd I think the change in gameplay was fine. Kept the series from getting boring. And the monsters? Who knows, the general concensus is Dimensional Shamblers.

  • There are only two people who could take on Cthulu:

Chuck Norris and Dr Gordon Freeman!

  • @Fedaykin24 THREE, the ghost of bruce lee:D

  • dagon got a rocket to the face in the first one

  • the thing with horns was dagon

  • This fucking video rocks, it's fucking Lovecraftian. Why they cancelled the game ? ><

    Iä ! Iä ! Nyarlathotep fhtagn !

  • why was this game canceled

  • they shoud do this game now with nexgen graphics, it would blow re and silent hill away,

  • how did they get up the ladder without arms?

  • @omgnumbersandletters jetpacks

  • @omgnumbersandletters they did have arms but they were somewhat short

  • what was that thing that hard weird horns?was it cthulhu?

  • How did the girl all of a sudden go dragonball z? what, wait, what?

  • WTF, how they get up on that tower, they fkin climb with those stubby-ass arms?!?!?!!?!?

  • Dunno, the animations look really stiff and I don't quite see what giant mutated rabid hamsters have to do with Cthulhu.

  • if cthulu was real.. i WANT to serve him.. her.. or whatever.. cus. hes .. sooo awesome

  • He used aimbot at start, so they cancelled it :(

  • how the hell those aliens climb the stairs?

  • Make this game now!

  • why doesn't cthulu look like cthulu. He's supposed to look like a 50-foot-tall illithid

  • : So, Cthulhu is responsable of the floods in Halo too, damn

  • DAMN IT, i was waiting for this game, shit to hear it was cancelled since the 1st 1 was absolutely great.

What a pitty it was cancelled, makes me angry.

  • "this game has not yet been rated"...and it will never be

  • it was canceled cause the producers of this game went bankrupt.

  • This game was cancelled because they are to idiots to complete magnificiant!

  • OK everyone to those newbie Cthulhu or Lovecraft fans or expert Cthulhu Masters that dont remember shet. The monsters in the beginning are Dimensional Shamblers, The second one is the city of Rlyieh probaly emerging, and lastly the horned man thing is Nylarthothep dressed as one of his 998 avatars "The Black Man" thumbs up if u agree -.-;

  • @Gorillaz84444 suspenseful and tense ill give it that, but it wasn't "horrifying" at all and what's up with the names you mentioned? Did the author use a random letter generator to spit out letters until he thought "meh, that's enough letters for one name"? These names are utterly retarded. Rlyieh? seriously?

  • @7F0X7 Not really, HP Lovecraft said he had the gods visit him via dreams.

Nylarthothep commonly respected by Egyptians it was a mix of Egyptian language and Babylon.

Most of the names are extremley antique Babylon language or even alien languages that things with only 17 lungs can pronounce.

Think of it: The Gods are actually just normal beings that roam the universe at ease.

While for us there powers are God-like.

While for them were just ants, Either kill, harvest or leave alone.

  • @Gorillaz84444 It looked like Shub-Niggurath to me. And I raged because I thought they really designed Shub-Niggurath like a silly like a goat. Well, thanks for the info, I hope you're right. But wasn't the "Black Man" as tall as a normal human? I remember "dreams in the witchhouse".

  • @gono8 Yes that is true, but that's in his "human form". Nylarthothep has various forms depending of the Mask he is using for this mask (The Black Man) he is in his "True Form".

Some books don't say much. Such as The Mountains Of Madness they don't directly mention Azagoth, they just call him a Great God or Demon or such.

  • @Gorillaz84444 wait...isnt that thing rising from the sea Cthulhu?

  • @Gorillaz84444 Nyarlathotep*

  • "This game has not yet been rated."

    And it never will.

  • I had a dream about cthulu.....by the way revelations began 2006.....demons were released from the abyss 2008.....and cthulu....will emerge most likely...it's just a theory....

  • @PX2k2 shut up kid, go be "deep" someplace where they tolerate dueches

  • what are they

  • The only game I want more than this is Timesplitters 4.

  • Feh. Nyarlathotep is just as likely to have imparted some great wisdom to the fortunate investigate, blessedly alleviating him of his sanity and converting him to his dutiful worship. This seems so violent and silly, like the Resident Evil games.

  • how can they climb the ladder without arms?

  • @upperclasstwitofthis Now that's a great question!

  • @upperclasstwitofthis They have T-rex arms.

  • MAN it was cancelled but another company should pick it up and finish development of the game and release it a company like Rockstar or Bethesda or even EA if possible... but i guess its too late now.

  • @PivotWithBiscuitz Bethesda did the first game :)

  • really?? wow they need to do the second one

  • well this game looks more like resent resident evils but why isnt this fps like the 1st one

  • CoC:DCotE was one of the greatest horror games i've ever played, in fact i never felt so deep inside a story like i did while playing cthulhu. really great game, hopefully another developer one day will continue this legacy.

  • I'd buy this even with old graphics as long as the art direction is consistent. I still like the look of Dark corners of the earth.

  • @Gryttinge2

You haven't played it, so you cant know if its good -.-.

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

  • Who Would Win,

    Shub-Niggurath, Nyarlathotep, Yog-Sothoth, or Azathoth?

    I put money on Azathoth.

  • @Nemesis0300 Definitely azathoth, god of all time and space? theres no way he wouldn't win!

  • @Nemesis0300 Nah, Yog-Sothoth is the connected to the greater reality outside the universe, so that's pretty powerful.

  • @927541 Azathoth is the creator of everything. Litterally everything. He could blink and everything you know would be gone. He could blink an Yog-sothoth morphed into a puppy. Azathoth is THE highest think there is from what I hear.

  • @Nemesis0300 I heard that they were equally powerful. It's just that Azaroth rules and created the universe and Yog-Sothoth doesn't and didn't. The only reason i mentioned Yog-Sothoth is that he is explicitly mentioned to be the All-in-One and the One-in-All, he is "not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep — the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike"

  • @927541 the reason why they call him the One in all and All in One is because he is a gate keeper of the Elder,Great Old Ones and Outer gods. They also refer to him as the Gate but also the Key because when the stars are right he will open himself to transport the gods to plunge before us like savage beasts of the nightmarish hell of the darkest CORNERS OF THE UNIVERSE MERCIFULLY RIPPING LIMB TO LIMB WITH LONG LASTING WOES AND... oh jeez i got carried away again -pulls gun to face- JK :P

  • FUCK U BETSHEDA FOR DOING THIS FUCK YOU

  • well development DCotE was started in the early 90's. so damn we still wouldve been waiting a long time for this I think anyways.

  • Too bad this never got made. I've played through DCoTE so many times...

  • Perhaps it's a good thing this didn't get finished, as much as I'd love to see Nyarlathotep take the stage.

  • Heh, Cthulhu's entrance was nothing short of magnificent.

  • I think the best material for a video game, if true to the story would be "The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath".

Of course the developers should take liberties, there's no art in copying everything, but the interpretations should be true to that wonderful story.

Think about it, probably the most epic story of Lovecraft (not 1337speak but the original meaning of the word) would become a well developed video game.

Developed with love, dedication, loyalty, effort and imagination *drools*.

  • @Am0nknight1234

Ah, Dream-Quest. Damn very epic story. It was almost like Dante's Inferno; it played out like a tour of Dreamland.

Hell, I want to see a sandbox game of Dreamland. I want to travel the Vaults of Zin with Ghouls; visit the port of Dylath-Leen with the black galleys; sail on the River Skai; wander amongst the Enchanted Forest with Zoogs; visit the marsh where Sarnath once stood and travel to Kadath, to meet Nyarlathotep.

    I want THAT.

Also, I've always wondered: what is 1337 speak?

  • @binarynightmare

1337 is a 'unique' way of saying LEET, or in other words 'elite'. You pronounce it as leet (in the word elite) and it means that something is awesome, cool or at the top of its game.

1337 speak is the name for the gamer's dictionary, with words such as: pwned, epic fail, omgz0rz, hax etc.

Or at least something along those lines!xD

  • Ah, thank you! I've always wondered...I always thought things like 'epic' were just a 4Chan meme.

  • @Am0nknight1234 ALways thought it would be a good idea to make that story into a game. Either that or it will be awsome if they made a call of cthulhu game with the same story but set in modern times. It would just be cool fighting deep ones with assault rifles!

  • @rhagerlugo

Or seing how our modern infrastructure would simply be toppled by the nameless horrors that dwell in R'lyeh!

It could be brilliant, if well done. I don't want it ruined by the scientific tendencies of today to explain everything and give it a name.

That would destroy the purpose and authentic signature feeling of a Lovecraftian game (or anything Lovecraft-related).

But if done correctly, being the fanboy that I am, I would scream of joy like a hysterical schoolgirl!xD

  • @Am0nknight1234 It would be cool because after killing that deep one with the assault rifle, Cthulhu breaks down yor mind and then causes you to shot yourself with that assault rifle so your soul can be hiss for eternity! that would rule.

  • @rhagerlugo

And maybe, because you have been so succesful in killing his minions, you receive the ultimate punishment; which isn't death---death is forgiving, oblivion, peace---no! neverending insanity!

You will become a major pawn of Cthulhu's plans.

As a twisted abomination, you shall walk freely among the denizens and nameless horrors that dwell in the dunken depths of R'lyeh, defending it from your former brethren, and serve dreaded Cthulhu forever . . .

    That would rule indeed! =D

  • @rhagerlugo You mean like 'Legendary', only waaaay better, right?

  • @Kl4pp5tuh Well there is not a huge connection between the games but i can see what you mean and in a way, YES!

  • Why did they have to cancel this game? "Dark Corners of the Earth" was fun. "Destiny's End" looked interesting. Bleh...

  • I think it's pretty obvious why this game was canceled. The main character is dead before the first cutscene finishes. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO PLAY AS NOW?

  • thats not the main character :D . Just because a guy uses a gun , kills monsters in a trailer doesnt mean the whole game is about him !

  • Seriously, what were those things? Deep Ones? Dark Young? TELL ME!!!

    But this looked really good.

Why was it cancelled? Budget? Nameless cosmic horrors?

  • are those... MAN-BEAR-PIGS???

  • WHYYY??? WWHHYY!!??

    why they cancelled this vodeogameeeee???!!!

this would have been serious competition to silent hill and resident evil!!

    FFUUCCKK!!!!

  • @m4r1lynm4n50n i got to agree with you in that but resident evil is more on thriller even action so its this and sisy old no wait let me rephrase that really old silent hill

  • @m4r1lynm4n50n That's probably why they cancelled it. It's too similar to RE4 and Silent Hill. That and the company went belly-up.

  • i hope so badly that they finish this game but then in fps style not in third person , hope someone will put some money into this. there are alot of fans waiting.

  • it was canceled :(

  • Looked good, would be a decent 360 title if they had ballz enough to realize it.

  • This happened to me once.

  • So, a FPS? I would of been okay with that.

  • ...

  • How'd those things climb the ladder with those tiny arms...

  • @Geoxile

    ...it was...SCIENCE!!!

  • what was the selling of DCotE? wasn't big salary if company ended, or it was too late

  • mmm...

it didnt seem as scary as the first one (dark corners of the earth)

too bad they cancelled it anyway :(

  • Why would a game THIS AWESOME get cancelled?

  • mabye cthulu said this was racist and was gonna sue them and SWALLOW THEIR SOOOOOULS lol jk but srsly why would they cancel this?!?

  • @ExpertGamer951 too many people actually fucking believe it.

  • @ExpertGamer951 Destiny's End was originally signed for release in March of 2005, but the publisher, Hip Interactive, for the project fell on financial troubles and declared bankruptcy in December 2005. Headfirst Productions itself went into liquidation as of March 2006, and the game is now thought to be vaporware.

  • those enemies don't look like they'd pose much of a threat... THEY HAVE TINY FREAKING T-REX ARMS FFS!

  • does anyone know what those creatures are, cause i don't recognize them from any cthulhu mythos

  • if its like the trailer, that you can pick any thing from the ground I MEAN LIKE ANYTHING. then it would be a cool game

  • So it was supposedly a game like RE5 or something like that? some points in the trailer made me think the possibility of co-op, actually...

  • Eh... can't say for sure. Looked like a fun thriller, at least.

  • Well at least we know how it ends.

  • Damn... I love Call of Cthulhu and Lovecraft stuff so much... I would loved to have this game, hope some studio reconsider a Lovecraftian game in the near future. Imagine next-gen Call of Cthulhu! Woah!

  • Check out the game "Cherlock Holmes; The Awakening" :) It's a adventure game that mixes H.P, Lovecraft's univerce with Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's.

  • Sorry, I always mess up S and Ch... I mean "Sherlock Holmes: The Awakening" :) Also check out the work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, he also wrote "The Lost World." The Sherlock Holmes novels and short stories are a thrilling good read. I recomend starting with the novels, my favourite is "The Hounf of the Baskervilles." A true classic :)

  • i would've loved to play this game, too bad they bankrupt :((..

  • whats with the downsyndromed mutant were wolf at the beginning

  • Wish they hadn't gone bankrupt, they had atleast three other Cthulhu games planned.

  • damn it damn the economy

  • @darkness442003 THE SYSTEM DOESNT WORK BOI D:<

  • @Gorillaz84444 Your preaching to the choir i know. From the opening scene this game had something to with good ol narlythope, this game did have potential to make folks forget about resident evil...Hey anything dealing with Narlythope means its going to be weird, kick ass and oh shit (drop the controler lol)

  • look at the title, does it say RE 4?

  • what are those creaturs?

and when will the game come out?

  • Shub Niggurath looks like crap. Not even like an scary alien. Only like a stupid humanoid goat.

  • i find it hilarious that slashsven told everyone he loved coc.

  • which would books would this game be refering to if it was made?

    please tell me your ideas!

    im curious to know =]

  • This stinks. I still cannot believe the company had gone down the drain. It's too bad that somebody couldn't pick up the torch and revitalize the whole idea. It would be great to have another COC game out in the open besides Dark Corners.

  • Looks pretty action based, but I would have played it. Too bad the company went bankrupt.

  • why did it go bankrupt??

  • HeadFirst's managers were bad. Very bad. PC version was released, because lead engineer Gareth Clarke was stubborn - he did it for free, because he's a true HPL fan.

  • It's nice to know there are people who would do awesome stuff, not just for the money.

  • Its a shame they went out of business.

I'm a big fan and I'd have bought the beta copy or in episodic form so its a surprise that no other developer has jumped in.

  • i wonder how many people know about the first cocdcote game, and when some rich sponsor will release more of coc.. i loved coc 1 but it was unsatisfying at the ending.. beat dágon ..beat hydra..where the f*ck was cthulu!

  • cthulu is much too powerful of an old one to be beaten by jack dagon and hydra are the most "mortal" of the old ones while cthulu is an extremely powerful old one who would strike insanity into jack at one glance and no mere weapon or physical entity would be able to kill cthulu only the most powerful elder ones magic could if not just seal him away again

  • So thats what happens when you breed chicken and humans.

  • I wished it wasnt canceled.. :(

  • Were the creatures those mentioned in Lovecrafts The Rats in the Walls?

  • Two things.

    1. In the RPG dont you lose sanity when you use magic?

    and

    2. The guy's no Jack Walters but why did they cancel this game? I need another CoC game to play....

  • The game was cancelled simply because of the company Headfirst Productions' bankruptcy. Read from wikipedia.

  • thats what happens when people make a game about cthulu

  • what exactly were the gimp things supposed to be?

  • oh dear freaking god this would have bee

    n a great game

  • oh aw no man this would be a good game

  • I hate to say it, but this does not really fit with the tone of Lovecraftian horror. The mythos creatures tend to be obscured, present but subtle enough that the mind might try to dismiss it as a halucination or trick of the light. I think that games like Condemed: Criminal Origins tended to touch on that style a little better, even if it was different in theme.

Besides, how do those armless creatures climb the ladder at the top of the lighthouse?

  • it would work if it was set in the 20s, the creatures looked alright but the way the guy was losing his sanity was retarded, maybe if he was actually getting freaked out, pissing himself, and starting to go crazy it would work

  • hmm good point, it kinda looked like something was actually trying to make him go insane rather than him just going naturally mad lol.

Looks like the girl found some alien artifact like the Yithian lightning gun with that green shockwave lol

Too bad they never finished this, I heard it was supposed to be a trilogy with the third taking place at the mountains of madness

  • Yes, I heard that the third game was to take place in Antarctica and was tentatively entitled "Beyond the Mountains of Madness." I would have loved to play it.

Incidentally, Lovecraft's original "At the Mountains of Madness" was interesting for being a "de-mystifying" of the Mythos, where it shifted from being more of a fantasy perspective (black magic and demons) to more of a science fiction perspective (strange science and aliens.) Yet both sides are the same universe and themes.

  • Soon.

  • Looks like.. a shitty Resident Evil?

  • No

looks like a genuinely scary resident evil

  • What a failed attempt to continue the original Call Of Cthulhu. glad it never came out.

  • ik looks a little like jak from the jak and daxter series:)

  • Very disappointing - looks like a poor copy of Resident Evil or something like that.

How many monsterhords did they slash in the Cthulhu-stories? Can't think of one- didn't happend to often for what I know.

Well, maby I just can't stand those charakters. I have a big problem with children, because thats what they look like. Teens, not even 30 - most of the Cthulhu-Charakters are feeling much older and wiser - not like that punk with the gun, or a little girl

  • was that cthulhu himself at 1:48?

  • no that was probably a yith or something cthulu is contained and sealed away at the moment buuuuuuuut he is huge anyway ^_^

  • Nah, the Yith were featured in the first CoC game and looked much different.

It might be based on the story, "The Whisperer in Darkness" and the worshippers are the monsters from that story.

  • @Pixiesnix

No, the worshippers in 'The Whisperer in Darkness' were Mi-Go.

These might have just been the creative teams inventions.

But what was that beasty at the end with horns?
