correct a bycicle is not permitted on road ways with a speed limit above 30 mph and fyi if i ever saw you on the road i would be kind enough to pull beside you and dump about as much diesel smoke as you could handle before collapsing, you prick theres a side walk and a bike lane learn to use them just like the kids you fuckin paid for them with your taxes assuming you pay those
@MrRatchet151, you must live in a country other than the United States, or else you lack a clear understanding of the Uniform Vehicle Code by which the states form the laws for road use in this country. Sidewalks are for pedestrians and are permitted for use by cyclists, but such use is more dangerous than proper use of the roadway. Your inability to manage civil language means your contribution to my videos ends here.
You vehemently point out other drivers flaws but what are you doing specifically to address these situations. Your tone strikes me as trying to control a drivers state of being instead of addressing what safety strategies your implementing to secure your own well being. I've taken safety and defensive riding classes and our time is best spent not discussing what our obstacles should be doing. Show us you learned something and show a how to video versus " look at this moron"
@KVDKM, what I am doing has changed since the three year old video presented here. I now control the lane and require drivers to change lanes completely to ensure my safety. The more recent videos I have posted show this clearly. It works.
Wow ridingin quite a busy street there, in fact all these videos you're doing so. Btw law says you need to pull over if your impeding 5 cars, do me a huge surprise and showing me a video in which you do so.
There will forever be horrible drivers on the road and those people no matter what cautionary warning you give them they will be a danger to you. So its in your own best interest to avoid situations in which you would encounter said driver. Your sense of entitlement well get you killed
@KVDKM, I don't know in what state you reside, but FL law has no such requirement. If traffic is able to pass, as they are in this video, it's not impeding. There is no impeding law for bikes in FL.
If you're going SIGNIFICANTLY under the posted speed, all this will lead to is weeding out whining bitches like you, and possible a posted "minimum" limit like you see on some highways.
@freddotu I can see riding a velo on a street where you can keep up, say 20-30mph. But on major roadways like this, you are just creating a dangerous obstacle. I would say you're still in once piece simply because you are bright yellow.
@bradkrit, you're welcome to say what you want, although the foul language is not appreciated. I've take two cycling safety classes, one of which provided instructor certification. If you've not taken a course, and not learned why it works, you still don't have a clue.
@TheNineveh, the "cycling lane" you refer to is a strip of asphalt that is narrower than my velomobile. It is not a cycling lane, it is a fog stripe. You clearly are lacking understanding of safe cycling practices. Consider to research safe cycling by visiting commute orlando (d o t) com but I don't think you'll be able to figure that out.
@freddotu Really, well in Canada that is a cycle lane. And we seem to have not as many problems in our entire country than you have in one day. LOL P.S my Specialized Ground Control Comp is worth far more than your whole get up.
@TheNineveh, things are clearly different in canada than in the USA. You might note that I no longer ride in the gutter or on the edge. The hundreds of other motorists on the road do not cause me any problems. It's the exceptionally stupid ones that make it to YouTube. Your Specialized Ground Control Comp is worthless to me, but may be valuable to you. You may have no use for a practical commuting vehicle. Cost does not equal value.
Wow, after watching this video of you I don't feel so badly about all the asshole drivers in my city. I mean, it could be worse. You could live there.
Well you are not on a bicycle... you are in a expensive tree wheeled thing looking like a big d.... so some could consider it like really slow funny looking vehicle, and not like a classic looking bicycle...
@OP52RI, so that makes a difference in a driver causing a dangerous situation? I think not. Twenty police officers have determined, along with two lawyers and four hearing officers that I am operating a bicycle. Your logic is flawed and your consideration is lacking.
@CaptBubble. some UK cyclists also know how to properly operate a bicycle on the roadways. Look for magnatom's postings on YouTube for good examples. I no longer ride in the gutter and instead control the lane by taking the center position. I am rarely passed so closely as in this example.
i;m a cyclist myself, but when you're able to ride on a bike path and not down a busy road it would be suggested to do so. now yes, they're are plenty of stupid drivers on the road, but there is also ignorant bikers who feel that everything is by the book and you should allow a certain amount of feet to a biker, etc.. luckily your bike is yellow or you might of had a problem by now. all your videos just show that sometimes you can't fix stupid!! hope i don't see you on the news for getting hit!!
@Hoss8676, it's good to hear that you're a cyclist yourself, it's unfortunate that you feel it necessary to attack a cyclist who has taken a traffic skills course (myself) and have become a safer non-ignorant cyclist. your comments do show that you can't fix stupid. You can become less ignorant by taking a cycling skills course from the LAB, but you probably will remain stupid.
@hill3141, yes, he was, and in that stretch of roadway, the lane is very narrow, making the pass all the more dangerous. It's easy to see how the other motorists passed safely, yet this truck driver was unable to wait a few moments and chose to endanger another human bean.
Note the white line on the right side of the road. You as a cyclist are supposed to be on the right side of this line. You need to learn how to share the road and get the hell out of people's way your practically in the middle of the right lane ffs!
@024reredrum, since this video was taken, I have attended and passed two LAB courses and have learned the safer way of sharing the road. I have learned to not share the lane and to operate in the center of these sub-standard width lanes.
You are incorrect about being to the right side of the line and I now operate in the middle of these lanes.
You need to learn how to be a safe cyclist, or get off my back.
your prophesy amuses me. After ten thousand miles of riding, I've not been hit and do not expect that to happen due to my riding and safe cycling practices.
You cannot be correct about that which has not happened and is not likely to happen. You can maintain such an opinion, and an ill-informed one at that.
If you think you'll never be involved in an accident while driving a small slow moving vehicle down the middle of a traffic lane you are a fool. What if someone is drunk or tired or distracted or just doesn't see you because your so low to the ground. I know you have a horn but that isn't a force field. Where I live allot of people are dicks and will run you off the road or throw things at you for slowing them down I'm not saying that I would just that allot of other people would.
Thank you for your comment. Courage is not necessary with the proper training. With the training comes confidence, and experience follows soon after. I've had two cycling courses since this video was made and riding has become much safer for me now.
You're one brave dude! I was born and raised in Florida, so I'm aware of how pervasive the car culture is there; and consequently how bicycle unfriendly the roads and commuters tend to be.
thanks for your supportive comment. I once blamed the motorists for what seemed like dangerous riding. After taking a couple safe cycling courses, I learned I was part of the problem and therefore part of the solution. I have far less difficulty with other road users now.
you my good sir, are an idiot. i do believe thats why there are SIDEWALKS!!!! get the hell out of the road on ur stupid yellow bike, an get on the sidewalk so u can get back to mommys basement!
Why don't you get on the shoulder???? You're going way under the speed limit so get out of the way. You honestly expect to force car drivers out of their lane when there's plenty of room for you to get out of the way? No sympathy here. Way to cause a hazard for everyone else.
It's unfortunate that you feel qualified to determine my safety, as you are very likely not qualified to determine your own safety. It is you who should be removed from the roadway.
@freddotu - You don't have a clue about my qualifications. There is no reason to ride this slow in a traffic lane when there's an open shoulder, other than for your own sick pleasure of watching how people react to the hazard you're creating for them. It is very inconsiderate of you to purposefully get in the way so you can try to make drivers look bad. You should be on the shoulder so no one has to risk getting in an accident to avoid you. Keep doing this and you WILL get hit.
What I know of your qualifications is that you are not qualified to determine what is safe for me.
If you read the traffic laws of any state, you'll find that a cyclist has all the rights of any road user.
If you had greater priority to the use of the road than someone else, which it appears you believe that you do, you would have lights and siren, at which point I would pull over.
I don't have to make drivers look bad, they do so on their own.
@freddotu - "florida uniform code states that"... blah blah. You can sneer and quote statutes all you want, but the fact is you're being a prick. You are choosing to ride out in traffic when you clearly could take the shoulder instead and avoid all this. Especially when there is no extra lane for people to pass you, why do you insist on being in their way? There's no reason for it- other than for you to feel important in your slow yellow piece of crap that doesnt belong on the road.
@cobraman96, it's a common misconception among uneducated drivers that they pay for the roads. I'm a homeowner, and a taxpayer and the money I have to dish out gives me as much right to use the road as the uneducated drivers have. Consider that a bicycle causes no damage to the road surface, while motor vehicles create enough wear as to require regular maintenance costs.
Your other profanity laced post has been deleted. If you feel it necessary to display such comments, go elsewhere.
@cobraman96, I don't know what state you are in and it doesn't really matter to me anyway. Your "excuses" are meaningless. I do not impede traffic either. I am traffic and other road users can pass me. My safety is more important than someone else's ten second delay.
@cobraman96. you, you, you are pretty funny. Don't pretend for a moment to know what's best for me. What concern should you have of how I ride my bicycle? Your comments represent a common ignorance when it comes to safe cycling practices. It has nothing to do with "me me me". Get a clue and get off my case.
@freddotu Cobraman96, is an absolute moron cagar. He has no clue.. Because he cannot win an argument with logic, or any knowledge he resorts to ill concieved profanity and abuse, because he lacks the intelligence to forward a sane response. I am apparently gay (only according to him, not me), because I ride a bicycle. Yeah that makes sense. 2 + 2 = 54 apparently...
He is a moron.. And I tend to believe it is he who should be concerned over his sexuality, because he is obsessed with it.
@proaudiohd Most of the videos I see there is more then one lane, why cant the drivers simply change lanes, its not hard. If they cant change lanes they should not have a lisence
@freddotu well smart ass, if u want to talk about your SAFETY, what moron rides on the open road, with u KNOWING there are stupid drivers out there, when theres a perfectly safe SIDEWALK u can be on????
trnrbryn, simply in the way you phrase your comment and refer to "safe sidewalk" shows that you are not properly educated in safe cycling practices. Perhaps you should consider researching these topics before you use such foul language.
@freddotu well i dont want any more BS answers. i want a straight up answer. y on earth would u ride a bike on the road, and claim all these drivers are "dangerous" when u can avoid this by just using the friggin sidewalk??? iv had both my parents look at this and they both think ur retarded 4 being on the road when theres a sidewalk RIGHT THERE!!!
I don't claim that all these drivers are dangerous, but I do showcase the ones that stand out the most.
Sidewalk riding is far more dangerous than safe cycling on the roadway, when the rider is educated and skilled. Uneducated and unskilled riders choose to ride on the sidewalk because they are not educated enough to understand the difference.
You need not attack me in the manner you do. Your lack of understanding does not make me "retarded" and makes you appear to be the fool.
Emprical data shows that you have a much greater chance of a crash by riding on the sidewalk. If you are practicing what you describe as defensive driving, you may instead be operating under "inferiority cyclist" practices instead.
The CommuteOrlando blog is a good place to find more information, with links to other good sources.
@trnrbryn Riding on the sidewalk is illegal in most countries, if its legal where you live then where you live is different from most parts of the world
@ trnrbryn. Riding bicycles on the side at full speed walk endangers pedestrians, and it is illegal for that reason. When I drive there is ALWAYS slower moving automobile, and bicycle. And I just switch lanes to pass them. There's no point in expecting people to get out of your way for you.
Because 1. They are often oblivious of your need. 2. They can't move as fast, or well as an automobile, older people just simply aren't the fastest driver over all. 3. What's the point of waiting behind someone slower, when you can safely pass them?
And why would anyone want to ride a bicycle at all? Because driving an automobile is not a sustainable activity on this planet (If we all drove everywhere we'd be breathing smog, and soon run out of gasoline, which will make the road safe I suppose)
Cycling laws are stupid!.Use the sidewalk or just get the fuck out of the way. I almost ran over some dude on a bike the other day cuz he cut me off.....So if i would ran his ass over then it wouldnt be my fault
Thank you for your thoughts. I wish you a great kindness. Perhaps you have no room in your alleged mind for consideration of others and for that, you are unfortunate.
When it comes to roadway use, when you are important enough to qualify, you may be awarded with flashing lights and sirens. Until then, others have fair and safe use of the roadway too.
one day some one will bump you off your bike and teach you a lesson ... the lesson is that a car can run you over... but by then you will be sitting in your wheal chair paralysed and nagging about something else
carlosperezvidal, when someone beeps at me now, I wave. If it is a driver who is not happy with me on the road, it might confuse him. If it is someone I know, I am returning a hello. In all cases, the end result is better.
Sure, you're going to piss people off when you're riding in the middle of the road, 5 feet next to a sidewalk. Ever think that these people have places to go, and might be angered by some guy with 2 cameras strapped to his goofy bike, going 3 mph on a public road, saying how awful car owners are? I am all for safety of cyclists, and always follow the rules of the road, don't get me wrong. But the points of your videos are moot, since all of them clearly show a sidewalk easily accessible.
referencing a sidewalk as a safe place to ride indicates a lack of understanding of safe cycling practices. It is likely that I am operating at 18-20 mph on this particular roadway. Other cars with appropriately skilled drivers are able to pass safely. I'm sure you've seen your share of unskilled drivers, and this video shows a particularly dangerous and inconsiderate one.
Research vehicular cycling, effective cycling, smart cycling.
All laws and cycling practices aside, i was getting at the fact that your video is just a documentary on 'how to aggrivate big bad motorists using your bicycle'. I mean, in one of your other videos, you're riding directly in the middle of the lane on a 4 lane highway! And I mean RIGHT in the middle of the lane! And then blaming the drivers? Bad scene bro.
clearly you have done zero research. virtually all of the motor vehicle operators are skilled enough to operate safely on the roadway with me. I do ride in the middle of the lane. It is the SAFEST place to ride. I'm blaming the drivers who are inconsiderate and place me in danger by passing too closely.
No laws or cycling practices aside, my riding is based on those laws and cycling practices. No educated, considerate and skilled driver is aggravated in the making of these videos.
I'm not sure where you live but in Canada the law states that if you can't keep up with traffic that you have to ride as close to the right edge of the road as possible.
The USA has different laws in different states and none of the language uses "as close as possible". It is always "as practicable" which means able to be practiced safely. If canada has laws which disregard cyclist safety, it is unfortunate for you.
The driver of every slow moving vehicle shall drive such vehicle as close as possible to the right hand edge or curb of any street unless it is impracticable to travel on such side. For the purpose of this section a bicycle shall be regarded at all times as a slow moving vehicle.
I understand the slow moving vehicle thing, yes. But it should be 'as close to the curb as practicable' not as possible. If the law there states ''ride as close to the curb as possible'', then the cyclist is putting themselves in danger of being passed too closely. Get it..yet?
Not really. I ride as close to the curb as possible and I haven't been in any accident or had anyone cut me off. Meanwhile you and freddotu ride far out from the curb intentionally slowing down traffic and keep posting videos of yourself getting cut off all the time claiming it's safer.
Obviously driver's where you live respect bikers more..since almost everyday where I live at least 1 or 2 driver's give me the horn or yell to get off the road..and here lanes are t typically less than 12 feet wide..so I ride to the Left a bit more. Not enough room to share safely with a car.
@Ian7570 Um, I dont know about you, but I have changed my cycling habits and ride more towards the middle of the lane, when I rode close to the curb I found drivers pass to close. freddotu appears to be right.
You're riding in the middle of the lane, blocking traffic, and complaining that the cars want to use the road. Move over, or better yet, play with your toys in the yard.
I am not blocking traffic. I am a legitimate road user, trained, skilled and experienced. The cars are welcome to use the road, as long as they understand that I am entitled to the same safe use.
Your statement has no basis in fact. Many drivers and many people on bikes do not have any training in safe cycling and maintain any number of misconceptions. Your comment represents one of those misconceptions and is unsafe riding practice.
WRONG WRONG WRONG! Cyclists are not required to go the speed limit. That would be ridiculous. Its called slow moving traffic. Slower vehicles use the Right hand lane, genius! You need to re-take driver's ED as clearly you have a severe lack of intelligence.
@FairToDredg A four lane highway, 4 - 1 = 3, simple math means they have 3 other lanes to pass safely. They must be bad drivers if they cant use one of the 3 other lanes
B.) why are you riding practically in the middle of the street?
C.)if you are going to take up a lane, why bitch when people get pissed off that someone get pissed that a lane that should be movin 35-45 mph is now going 4 mph....get over it and get off the road
I no longer operate so close to the edge of the road as to allow unsafe drivers to pass me dangerously close. I now operate in the center of substandard width lanes. I will continue to operate in this manner as it is the safest method allowed by law. Research vehicular cycling, effective cycling, smart cycling.
stucashx, since this video was taken, I've adopted a different practice of riding. I now occupy the center of the lane, as allowed by FL law (and other states) and find that riding is far safer. Because I am in the direct view of overtaking motorists, I am seen far sooner than when I was riding too close to the edge.
Many cyclists have been killed by motor vehicle operators. No motor vehicle operators have been killed by cyclists (in a crash).
I agree with this video, it's just good manners to give a cyclist a wide berth. There is no cycle lane and it's technically equal rights on the road.
I say technically because it's not really equal, is it. That truck driver, for example, might know he is not going to hit you and feels totally safe in 3 tonnes of steel and diesel, whereas you.... well you get the idea. Unfortunately and begrudgingly cyclists have to keep out of the way for the sake of self preservation in an imperfect world.
With the exception of the truck, all those other drivers used common sense and safely passed you up so I can't understand what the big deal is. Car drivers and bikers share the same road and the the same laws applies to both. However, if you expect the law to protect you from these idiot drivers (and yes, too many drivers are idiots) then you may be in for a rude awakening. Try using a bit of common sense.
the truck is the point of this video. I follow the same laws as other vehicles. Common sense is not used to protect cyclists, proper training is the right answer. Your words are meaningless.
Cyclists have all the RIGHTS and responsibilities of other vehicle operators on the roads.
I have a life. I'm not "sitting around all day" but do go out and ride 100-150 miles a week.
again, "with the exception of the truck" is an important part of your comment. It takes only one exception to result in a crash. Inconsiderate motorists are unsafe motorists.
I'm not sure why you would care to "defend" an unsafe motorist.
@noscamman If you ride to the far left they all pass too close, why cant they simply change lanes or cant motorists be bothered using their steering wheel
WickedChris, you are seeing something that is not there. There is no bike lane on either roadway. There is no infraction on my part. I have been cited by police twice for riding in the center of the road, which is now my regular practice and the court dismissed both charges.
Do I feel bad about inconveniencing motorists? should I? Do they feel bad about inconvniencing me? About discharging carbon monoxide in my face? About soldiers dying to fill gas tanks with oil? About global warming and CO2 emissions? Fuck no. Stick to the road until you are sure that it's safe to use the bike lane (scan the lanes ahead, look behind your shoulders, and MAKE EYE CONTACT with motorists), then pull off to let traffic pass.
What do you mean 'there is no bike lane'?! There is clearly a bike lane unless you're blind or retarded. He could easily move over to let those people pass.
Riding in bike lanes has greater risks then using the road. I should know, where I live we have 5 bike lanes throughout the city. I have been on every one of them, and use at least 2 on a daily basis. I get cut off and right hooked almost every time I use them. They are not any safer than using the road.
Excuses excuses, it's obviously a bike lane. Making people in cars switch lanes to go around you when there is a perfectly usable bike lane is dangerous. Keep making excuses for why you do it right up until someone crashes into you.
It can be..but you gotta realize that bikes are ''traffic''..and are subject to the same rights and rules of the road, including to use them. Cyclists dont have to use the bike lane if they feel it's not safe. I dont use them unless I know there are no intersections or driveways where drivers can run me down or cut me off! Its common sense, in which you dont seem to have.
There's no common sense in riding a bicycle in the street with cars blasting by and switching lanes to avoid you. If that's your idea of common sense then I'm sorry. There's nothing unsafe about using the lane specified for bicycles. That's why it's called the 'bike lane'.
Where I live we have 5 cycle lanes, and 1 is located in the conturyside. The other 4 are not safe. They crisscross too many driveways and intersections, in which car drivers are not looking for them. If you insist bike lanes are safe then you go ahead and use them..I'll jsut ride in traffic in the street where im most visible to drivers and not getting cut off! Moron.
I rode a bicycle everywhere for 8 years before getting a drivers license, and ALWAYS used the bike lane. I never once got hit by a car and nobody turned into me or cut me off! I have nothing against people on bikes, but when they get in my way when I'm trying to get somewhere and they're slowing down traffic it doesn't make people particularly sympathetic to their cause.
Well maybe you just have had alot of luck cause I get cut off almost everyday I use the bike lanes, which provide marginal safety. It also depends where they are at. At intersections and driveways your much more likley to be cut off or right hooked. Its just how it is. I never use bike lanes unless I KNOW drivers will not cut me off or pull stupid shit in front of me.
I've ridden at least 100,000 miles during my life time. The last 15 years or so of that transporting my children by bike trailer, tandem and triplet. I've ridden the local bike paths that run right next to the road way. We have been hit once and more near misses than I can count but not once have we had a problem riding on the road. I take the lane and the motorists learn what the left pedal is for. The problem that you display as do a majority of motorists is impatience.
@stanbernadino If you ride near the gutter cars pass too close or left/ right hook you, thats my experience. If cars want cyclists to ride near the gutter, then when we do give us a bit of space.
It's not a bike lane. It's the shoulder of the road. A bike lane is a minimum of 4'. Even so it is far more risky to ride in such a bike lane than to take the lane, ride predictably and make the motorists negotiate to get around you.
You ride to close to the right and and you will get squeezed into the gutter.
Next time ride in the bike lane where you are supposed to. I am an avid cyclist, but would probably have passed you even closer to remind you not to ride in the street. You give the rest of us cyclists a bad name by pissing off car drivers. Be more considerate next time.
So your willing to furthermore endanger the cyclist because he is not using the bike lane when he is actually required to be riding in the road by law. Shows the kind of a moron you actually are.
Josiah531, these are not staged examples. I run a pair of cameras pointing forward and aft when I ride.
ctdbooster, you need not be abusive nor abrasive. Bicycles belong on the roadway and other motorists should learn to be considerate of other road users. Road rage would not exist if consideration were taught to people, perhaps by their parents? I'm sure your parents are proud of your consideration in your comments.
socomcorky, I dropped off a CD with the video to the manager of the auto parts department. Twilwel, it's great to see another velo driver here, thanks for the post.
It's greater fun to be in the middle of the lane with my Gold Rush Replica. Cars pull up alongside and yell at me to get off the road. I laugh, wave and just keep on trucking. The only way to educate idiot drivers is to be.
I ride a velomobile too and agree with freddotu that it is most of the time better not to ride to the extreme right. The same applies for both velomobilists as for motorriders: ride in the centre or even to the left side of your lane. Than you can see further into side streets (and drivers coming from the side see you better) and you sort of force drivers coming from behind to change the lane before passing. Only when there is a wide shoulder on the road I can ride to the right side safely.
The dumb rednecks do the same crap to me. They cant resist bullying someone at a disadvantage. Its an assualt plain and simple. I hope you called his boss.
certainly at the points where there is a median, there is not enough room to pass safely. This means a slight delay. The five or six vehicles prior to this truck had no problem waiting. A thirty second delay is trivial, yet motorists feel that they are not going to tolerate any delay. Consider that fuel economy goes up at lower speeds and save some of that four dollar a gallon fuel.
note @ :48 with the truck..the driver never slows down or makes any attempt to slow and wait to pass the cyclist safetly. Im an avid cyclist..and he passed very unsafetly.
It doesn't matter where your laws do or do not require you to ride. If you chose to ride a few more feet to the right you'd be in a lot safer position.
You're never going to get every driver behaving in a responsible way, so why endanger yourself to prove it?
Actually its a good idea to give yourself a little wiggle room to dodge the aggressive morons who try to scare you by passing you as close as possible at full acceleration.
It does matter where the laws require me to ride and choosingt more to the right is LESS safe, not more safe. I am in less danger by being where I am, or in this video, more to the left would have been better.
citizenloz, you'll find that my position on vehicular cycling is shared by foremost cycling experts all over the world. This includes experts in traffic law, in cycling law, in cycling safety and in vehicular cycling.
Thanks for your unfounded and inane comment. For your own safety and that of others, I recommend remaining a pedestrian, as you certainly have a pedestrian attitude.
Sad thing is, that where I live nearly half of the drivers dont seem to understand why someone on a bike chooses to use the road. They need to be retrainned on bicycle laws.
oslo, a minor correction... most states require that bicycles follow the same laws as motor vehicles, but are considered only as vehicles, not motor vehicles. Your point is accurate however. It's unfortunate that most people on bicycles do not obey traffic laws which apply both to motor vehicles and human powered vehicles.
I know this by observation, over 13 thousand miles on a bicycle in the past three and a half years. I see it on the roadway every day. I could certainly clarify it by saying that most people who ride bikes on the roadway. Check out my club ride video to see more than 20 cyclists who blow stop signs and two blowing a red light!
sifeca1, "lane that is designed for motor vehicles" is meaningless. Florida law states that bicycles have full use of the roadway. The roadway does not include the shoulder or bike lanes. Safe cycling is vehicular cycling.
I had a similar incident a few years ago. I caught up to the jerk at a stoplight. I pulled him out of his truck and beat the tar out of him. He had to be taken away in an ambulance. I had to take 'anger management' classes. I guess the hope is that next time I'll turn the other cheek?
When a motorist uses a 4000 pound vehicle to attack a defenseless cyclist, it is an assualt. I dont really blame you too much but as my Grandma used to say "Two wrongs dont make a right". Thats why I try to keep my cool and use a helmet cam so I can show the Police instead of pulling the jackass from the car at the next stoplight.
Florida law does not require riding on the shoulder, nor does it require riding in bike lanes, both of which are more dangerous than vehicular cycling. Florida has a 3' passing law. That road does not have a bike lane and those that do are far too narrow to be safe. More than 11,000 miles of experience cycling here has shown me this.
correct a bycicle is not permitted on road ways with a speed limit above 30 mph and fyi if i ever saw you on the road i would be kind enough to pull beside you and dump about as much diesel smoke as you could handle before collapsing, you prick theres a side walk and a bike lane learn to use them just like the kids you fuckin paid for them with your taxes assuming you pay those

KVDKM 4 months ago
@KVDKM, I don't know in what state you reside, but FL law has no such requirement. If traffic is able to pass, as they are in this video, it's not impeding. There is no impeding law for bikes in FL.

If you're going SIGNIFICANTLY under the posted speed, all this will lead to is weeding out whining bitches like you, and possible a posted "minimum" limit like you see on some highways.
bradkrit 6 months ago
@bradkrit, you are operating under a severe misconception. In general, you are seriously incorrect.
freddotu 6 months ago
@freddotu I can see riding a velo on a street where you can keep up, say 20-30mph. But on major roadways like this, you are just creating a dangerous obstacle. I would say you're still in once piece simply because you are bright yellow.
bradkrit 6 months ago 2
@bradkrit, you're welcome to say what you want, although the foul language is not appreciated. I've take two cycling safety classes, one of which provided instructor certification. If you've not taken a course, and not learned why it works, you still don't have a clue.
freddotu 6 months ago
YOU GIVE CYCLISTS A BAD NAME, you have a cycle lane to your right.
TheNineveh 6 months ago
@TheNineveh, the "cycling lane" you refer to is a strip of asphalt that is narrower than my velomobile. It is not a cycling lane, it is a fog stripe. You clearly are lacking understanding of safe cycling practices. Consider to research safe cycling by visiting commute orlando (d o t) com but I don't think you'll be able to figure that out.
freddotu 6 months ago
@freddotu Really, well in Canada that is a cycle lane. And we seem to have not as many problems in our entire country than you have in one day. LOL P.S my Specialized Ground Control Comp is worth far more than your whole get up.
TheNineveh 6 months ago
@TheNineveh, things are clearly different in canada than in the USA. You might note that I no longer ride in the gutter or on the edge. The hundreds of other motorists on the road do not cause me any problems. It's the exceptionally stupid ones that make it to YouTube. Your Specialized Ground Control Comp is worthless to me, but may be valuable to you. You may have no use for a practical commuting vehicle. Cost does not equal value.

Well you are not on a bicycle... you are in a expensive tree wheeled thing looking like a big d.... so some could consider it like really slow funny looking vehicle, and not like a classic looking bicycle...
OP52RI 1 year ago
@OP52RI, so that makes a difference in a driver causing a dangerous situation? I think not. Twenty police officers have determined, along with two lawyers and four hearing officers that I am operating a bicycle. Your logic is flawed and your consideration is lacking.
freddotu 1 year ago 2
You're complaining about that? In London cyclists DREAM of being given so much space!
CaptBubble 1 year ago
@CaptBubble. some UK cyclists also know how to properly operate a bicycle on the roadways. Look for magnatom's postings on YouTube for good examples. I no longer ride in the gutter and instead control the lane by taking the center position. I am rarely passed so closely as in this example.
freddotu 1 year ago 2
i;m a cyclist myself, but when you're able to ride on a bike path and not down a busy road it would be suggested to do so. now yes, they're are plenty of stupid drivers on the road, but there is also ignorant bikers who feel that everything is by the book and you should allow a certain amount of feet to a biker, etc.. luckily your bike is yellow or you might of had a problem by now. all your videos just show that sometimes you can't fix stupid!! hope i don't see you on the news for getting hit!!
Hoss8676 1 year ago
@Hoss8676, it's good to hear that you're a cyclist yourself, it's unfortunate that you feel it necessary to attack a cyclist who has taken a traffic skills course (myself) and have become a safer non-ignorant cyclist. your comments do show that you can't fix stupid. You can become less ignorant by taking a cycling skills course from the LAB, but you probably will remain stupid.

hill3141 1 year ago
@hill3141, yes, he was, and in that stretch of roadway, the lane is very narrow, making the pass all the more dangerous. It's easy to see how the other motorists passed safely, yet this truck driver was unable to wait a few moments and chose to endanger another human bean.

Note the white line on the right side of the road. You as a cyclist are supposed to be on the right side of this line. You need to learn how to share the road and get the hell out of people's way your practically in the middle of the right lane ffs!
024reredrum 2 years ago
@024reredrum, since this video was taken, I have attended and passed two LAB courses and have learned the safer way of sharing the road. I have learned to not share the lane and to operate in the center of these sub-standard width lanes.
You are incorrect about being to the right side of the line and I now operate in the middle of these lanes.
You need to learn how to be a safe cyclist, or get off my back.
freddotu 2 years ago
I certainly am correct you are going to get hit by a car.
024reredrum 2 years ago
your prophesy amuses me. After ten thousand miles of riding, I've not been hit and do not expect that to happen due to my riding and safe cycling practices.
You cannot be correct about that which has not happened and is not likely to happen. You can maintain such an opinion, and an ill-informed one at that.
freddotu 2 years ago
If you think you'll never be involved in an accident while driving a small slow moving vehicle down the middle of a traffic lane you are a fool. What if someone is drunk or tired or distracted or just doesn't see you because your so low to the ground. I know you have a horn but that isn't a force field. Where I live allot of people are dicks and will run you off the road or throw things at you for slowing them down I'm not saying that I would just that allot of other people would.
024reredrum 2 years ago
As I noted, you are entitled to your opinion, and it's clear that you are not shy about presenting it.
It's also clear that you have no foundation for this opinion.

proaudiohd 2 years ago
It's unfortunate that you feel qualified to determine my safety, as you are very likely not qualified to determine your own safety. It is you who should be removed from the roadway.
freddotu 2 years ago
@freddotu - You don't have a clue about my qualifications. There is no reason to ride this slow in a traffic lane when there's an open shoulder, other than for your own sick pleasure of watching how people react to the hazard you're creating for them. It is very inconsiderate of you to purposefully get in the way so you can try to make drivers look bad. You should be on the shoulder so no one has to risk getting in an accident to avoid you. Keep doing this and you WILL get hit.
proaudiohd 2 years ago
What I know of your qualifications is that you are not qualified to determine what is safe for me.
If you read the traffic laws of any state, you'll find that a cyclist has all the rights of any road user.
If you had greater priority to the use of the road than someone else, which it appears you believe that you do, you would have lights and siren, at which point I would pull over.
I don't have to make drivers look bad, they do so on their own.
freddotu 2 years ago
@freddotu - "florida uniform code states that"... blah blah. You can sneer and quote statutes all you want, but the fact is you're being a prick. You are choosing to ride out in traffic when you clearly could take the shoulder instead and avoid all this. Especially when there is no extra lane for people to pass you, why do you insist on being in their way? There's no reason for it- other than for you to feel important in your slow yellow piece of crap that doesnt belong on the road.

@freddotu Who paid for that road? The gas tax pays for the road! So when can we expect your check to pay for your road use?
cobraman96 1 year ago
@cobraman96, it's a common misconception among uneducated drivers that they pay for the roads. I'm a homeowner, and a taxpayer and the money I have to dish out gives me as much right to use the road as the uneducated drivers have. Consider that a bicycle causes no damage to the road surface, while motor vehicles create enough wear as to require regular maintenance costs.

freddotu 2 years ago
@freddotu well i dont want any more BS answers. i want a straight up answer. y on earth would u ride a bike on the road, and claim all these drivers are "dangerous" when u can avoid this by just using the friggin sidewalk??? iv had both my parents look at this and they both think ur retarded 4 being on the road when theres a sidewalk RIGHT THERE!!!
trnrbryn 2 years ago

The CommuteOrlando blog is a good place to find more information, with links to other good sources.
freddotu 2 years ago
@trnrbryn Riding on the sidewalk is illegal in most countries, if its legal where you live then where you live is different from most parts of the world
KrunchyJD 1 year ago
@ trnrbryn. Riding bicycles on the side at full speed walk endangers pedestrians, and it is illegal for that reason. When I drive there is ALWAYS slower moving automobile, and bicycle. And I just switch lanes to pass them. There's no point in expecting people to get out of your way for you.
Tektribe808 2 years ago

FairToDredg 2 years ago
referencing a sidewalk as a safe place to ride indicates a lack of understanding of safe cycling practices. It is likely that I am operating at 18-20 mph on this particular roadway. Other cars with appropriately skilled drivers are able to pass safely. I'm sure you've seen your share of unskilled drivers, and this video shows a particularly dangerous and inconsiderate one.
Research vehicular cycling, effective cycling, smart cycling.
freddotu 2 years ago
All laws and cycling practices aside, i was getting at the fact that your video is just a documentary on 'how to aggrivate big bad motorists using your bicycle'. I mean, in one of your other videos, you're riding directly in the middle of the lane on a 4 lane highway! And I mean RIGHT in the middle of the lane! And then blaming the drivers? Bad scene bro.
FairToDredg 2 years ago
clearly you have done zero research. virtually all of the motor vehicle operators are skilled enough to operate safely on the roadway with me. I do ride in the middle of the lane. It is the SAFEST place to ride. I'm blaming the drivers who are inconsiderate and place me in danger by passing too closely.
No laws or cycling practices aside, my riding is based on those laws and cycling practices. No educated, considerate and skilled driver is aggravated in the making of these videos.
freddotu 2 years ago
I'm not sure where you live but in Canada the law states that if you can't keep up with traffic that you have to ride as close to the right edge of the road as possible.
Ian7570 2 years ago
The USA has different laws in different states and none of the language uses "as close as possible". It is always "as practicable" which means able to be practiced safely. If canada has laws which disregard cyclist safety, it is unfortunate for you.
freddotu 2 years ago
Yeah..right. Im sure its " Ride close to the curb as practicable..not as close as possible. I think you have the wrong idea..or you read it wrong.

Slow Moving Vehicles
59.
The driver of every slow moving vehicle shall drive such vehicle as close as possible to the right hand edge or curb of any street unless it is impracticable to travel on such side. For the purpose of this section a bicycle shall be regarded at all times as a slow moving vehicle.
Ian7570 2 years ago
I understand the slow moving vehicle thing, yes. But it should be 'as close to the curb as practicable' not as possible. If the law there states ''ride as close to the curb as possible'', then the cyclist is putting themselves in danger of being passed too closely. Get it..yet?
CycleMan2200 2 years ago
Not really. I ride as close to the curb as possible and I haven't been in any accident or had anyone cut me off. Meanwhile you and freddotu ride far out from the curb intentionally slowing down traffic and keep posting videos of yourself getting cut off all the time claiming it's safer.
Ian7570 2 years ago
Obviously driver's where you live respect bikers more..since almost everyday where I live at least 1 or 2 driver's give me the horn or yell to get off the road..and here lanes are t typically less than 12 feet wide..so I ride to the Left a bit more. Not enough room to share safely with a car.
CycleMan2200 2 years ago
@Ian7570 Um, I dont know about you, but I have changed my cycling habits and ride more towards the middle of the lane, when I rode close to the curb I found drivers pass to close. freddotu appears to be right.

WRONG WRONG WRONG! Cyclists are not required to go the speed limit. That would be ridiculous. Its called slow moving traffic. Slower vehicles use the Right hand lane, genius! You need to re-take driver's ED as clearly you have a severe lack of intelligence.
CycleMan2200 2 years ago 3
@FairToDredg A four lane highway, 4 - 1 = 3, simple math means they have 3 other lanes to pass safely. They must be bad drivers if they cant use one of the 3 other lanes

gregtr82 2 years ago
I no longer operate so close to the edge of the road as to allow unsafe drivers to pass me dangerously close. I now operate in the center of substandard width lanes. I will continue to operate in this manner as it is the safest method allowed by law. Research vehicular cycling, effective cycling, smart cycling.
"get off the road" ? I think not.
freddotu 2 years ago
stucashx, since this video was taken, I've adopted a different practice of riding. I now occupy the center of the lane, as allowed by FL law (and other states) and find that riding is far safer. Because I am in the direct view of overtaking motorists, I am seen far sooner than when I was riding too close to the edge.
Many cyclists have been killed by motor vehicle operators. No motor vehicle operators have been killed by cyclists (in a crash).
freddotu 2 years ago
I agree with this video, it's just good manners to give a cyclist a wide berth. There is no cycle lane and it's technically equal rights on the road.
I say technically because it's not really equal, is it. That truck driver, for example, might know he is not going to hit you and feels totally safe in 3 tonnes of steel and diesel, whereas you.... well you get the idea. Unfortunately and begrudgingly cyclists have to keep out of the way for the sake of self preservation in an imperfect world.
STUCASHX 2 years ago
You're the real danger. If you're in a vehicle, stay with the flow of traffic. If you're on a bike then get into the bike lane.
It's a miracle you weren't made into a pancake.
noscamman 2 years ago 7
those uneducated in safe cycling will likely never understand the difference.
freddotu 2 years ago
With the exception of the truck, all those other drivers used common sense and safely passed you up so I can't understand what the big deal is. Car drivers and bikers share the same road and the the same laws applies to both. However, if you expect the law to protect you from these idiot drivers (and yes, too many drivers are idiots) then you may be in for a rude awakening. Try using a bit of common sense.
noscamman 2 years ago
the truck is the point of this video. I follow the same laws as other vehicles. Common sense is not used to protect cyclists, proper training is the right answer. Your words are meaningless.
freddotu 2 years ago
Learn to share the road or get out of the way. Cyclist don't have any special priviledges.
Obviously you sit around all day and take videos of things you can complain to the world about.
Man up and get a life!
noscamman 2 years ago
Cyclists have all the RIGHTS and responsibilities of other vehicle operators on the roads.
I have a life. I'm not "sitting around all day" but do go out and ride 100-150 miles a week.
again, "with the exception of the truck" is an important part of your comment. It takes only one exception to result in a crash. Inconsiderate motorists are unsafe motorists.
I'm not sure why you would care to "defend" an unsafe motorist.
freddotu 2 years ago
@noscamman If you ride to the far left they all pass too close, why cant they simply change lanes or cant motorists be bothered using their steering wheel
KrunchyJD 1 year ago
WickedChris, you are seeing something that is not there. There is no bike lane on either roadway. There is no infraction on my part. I have been cited by police twice for riding in the center of the road, which is now my regular practice and the court dismissed both charges.
Safe cycling is not a crime.
freddotu 2 years ago
the only infraction here is the bike being on the road instead of the bike lane.
WickedChris 2 years ago
Do I feel bad about inconveniencing motorists? should I? Do they feel bad about inconvniencing me? About discharging carbon monoxide in my face? About soldiers dying to fill gas tanks with oil? About global warming and CO2 emissions? Fuck no. Stick to the road until you are sure that it's safe to use the bike lane (scan the lanes ahead, look behind your shoulders, and MAKE EYE CONTACT with motorists), then pull off to let traffic pass.
xxnecromanceroo 3 years ago
The bike lane is there for a reason, use it!! There's no reason for you to be in the street making people switch lanes to go around you.
stanbernadino 3 years ago
Hey dumbass, there is no bike lane! Not every fucking road has one, and he is supposed to be in the road..stupid.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
What do you mean 'there is no bike lane'?! There is clearly a bike lane unless you're blind or retarded. He could easily move over to let those people pass.
stanbernadino 3 years ago
Riding in bike lanes has greater risks then using the road. I should know, where I live we have 5 bike lanes throughout the city. I have been on every one of them, and use at least 2 on a daily basis. I get cut off and right hooked almost every time I use them. They are not any safer than using the road.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago 2
Its kinda hard to even tell if its a bike lane at all since I did not see any markings stating it was a designated bike lane.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago 2
Excuses excuses, it's obviously a bike lane. Making people in cars switch lanes to go around you when there is a perfectly usable bike lane is dangerous. Keep making excuses for why you do it right up until someone crashes into you.
stanbernadino 3 years ago
It can be..but you gotta realize that bikes are ''traffic''..and are subject to the same rights and rules of the road, including to use them. Cyclists dont have to use the bike lane if they feel it's not safe. I dont use them unless I know there are no intersections or driveways where drivers can run me down or cut me off! Its common sense, in which you dont seem to have.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago 2
There's no common sense in riding a bicycle in the street with cars blasting by and switching lanes to avoid you. If that's your idea of common sense then I'm sorry. There's nothing unsafe about using the lane specified for bicycles. That's why it's called the 'bike lane'.
stanbernadino 3 years ago
Where I live we have 5 cycle lanes, and 1 is located in the conturyside. The other 4 are not safe. They crisscross too many driveways and intersections, in which car drivers are not looking for them. If you insist bike lanes are safe then you go ahead and use them..I'll jsut ride in traffic in the street where im most visible to drivers and not getting cut off! Moron.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
I rode a bicycle everywhere for 8 years before getting a drivers license, and ALWAYS used the bike lane. I never once got hit by a car and nobody turned into me or cut me off! I have nothing against people on bikes, but when they get in my way when I'm trying to get somewhere and they're slowing down traffic it doesn't make people particularly sympathetic to their cause.
stanbernadino 3 years ago
Well maybe you just have had alot of luck cause I get cut off almost everyday I use the bike lanes, which provide marginal safety. It also depends where they are at. At intersections and driveways your much more likley to be cut off or right hooked. Its just how it is. I never use bike lanes unless I KNOW drivers will not cut me off or pull stupid shit in front of me.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
I've ridden at least 100,000 miles during my life time. The last 15 years or so of that transporting my children by bike trailer, tandem and triplet. I've ridden the local bike paths that run right next to the road way. We have been hit once and more near misses than I can count but not once have we had a problem riding on the road. I take the lane and the motorists learn what the left pedal is for. The problem that you display as do a majority of motorists is impatience.
What's your rush?

@stanbernadino If you ride near the gutter cars pass too close or left/ right hook you, thats my experience. If cars want cyclists to ride near the gutter, then when we do give us a bit of space.
KrunchyJD 1 year ago
It's not a bike lane. It's the shoulder of the road. A bike lane is a minimum of 4'. Even so it is far more risky to ride in such a bike lane than to take the lane, ride predictably and make the motorists negotiate to get around you.
You ride to close to the right and and you will get squeezed into the gutter.
MewFushisDad 3 years ago
note :48 with the truck..the driver never made any attempt to slow down and wait to pass the cyclist safetly.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
Next time ride in the bike lane where you are supposed to. I am an avid cyclist, but would probably have passed you even closer to remind you not to ride in the street. You give the rest of us cyclists a bad name by pissing off car drivers. Be more considerate next time.
jungwoossi 3 years ago
He's perfectly legal, dumbass. Read some bike laws and maybe you'll learn something.
Dershnof 3 years ago
So your willing to furthermore endanger the cyclist because he is not using the bike lane when he is actually required to be riding in the road by law. Shows the kind of a moron you actually are.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
ZGhrvatskaDU, riding a bike on the sidewalk is illegal in most places. Damned if you do & damned if you don't. Sucks huh?
cadd918 3 years ago
who the fuck do you think u are riding your bike in the middle of the street and pissing people off. i would love to run you over
ZGhrvatskaDU 3 years ago
Id love to see your license revoked the rest of your pathetic life and have to sit in jail for 10 years for attempted murder..jerkoff.
Dershnof 3 years ago
@ZGhrvatskaDU Then you should be in jail!

I'm sure your parents are proud of your consideration in your comments.
freddotu 3 years ago
what do you expect. you are a complete idiot.
ctdbooster 3 years ago
So these were "staged" examples?
Regardless a good demonstration of proper passing techniques. Good job.

socomcorky, I dropped off a CD with the video to the manager of the auto parts department. Twilwel, it's great to see another velo driver here, thanks for the post.
It's greater fun to be in the middle of the lane with my Gold Rush Replica. Cars pull up alongside and yell at me to get off the road. I laugh, wave and just keep on trucking. The only way to educate idiot drivers is to be.
freddotu 3 years ago
those are the kinds of motorists who play chiken with a train. Have fun with your bike and be safe.
cooldit1 3 years ago
Great, well done for reporting the substandard driver!!!
lsmike 3 years ago
I ride a velomobile too and agree with freddotu that it is most of the time better not to ride to the extreme right. The same applies for both velomobilists as for motorriders: ride in the centre or even to the left side of your lane. Than you can see further into side streets (and drivers coming from the side see you better) and you sort of force drivers coming from behind to change the lane before passing. Only when there is a wide shoulder on the road I can ride to the right side safely.
twilwel 3 years ago
The dumb rednecks do the same crap to me. They cant resist bullying someone at a disadvantage. Its an assualt plain and simple. I hope you called his boss.
socomcorky 3 years ago
note :51 with the truck... there is a median making it impossible to leave the lane.
curtisdarr 3 years ago
certainly at the points where there is a median, there is not enough room to pass safely. This means a slight delay. The five or six vehicles prior to this truck had no problem waiting. A thirty second delay is trivial, yet motorists feel that they are not going to tolerate any delay. Consider that fuel economy goes up at lower speeds and save some of that four dollar a gallon fuel.
freddotu 3 years ago
If thats true then its called slowing the fuck down or waiting till its clear ans safe to pass.
Dershnof 3 years ago
note @ :48 with the truck..the driver never slows down or makes any attempt to slow and wait to pass the cyclist safetly. Im an avid cyclist..and he passed very unsafetly.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
hahaha its the same asshole in the toyota both times oh man thats funny, cars just dont care about us

Sad eh?
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
You're attitude to this is ridiculous.
It doesn't matter where your laws do or do not require you to ride. If you chose to ride a few more feet to the right you'd be in a lot safer position.
You're never going to get every driver behaving in a responsible way, so why endanger yourself to prove it?
Ride defensively.
citizenloz 3 years ago
Actually its a good idea to give yourself a little wiggle room to dodge the aggressive morons who try to scare you by passing you as close as possible at full acceleration.
socomcorky 3 years ago
"It doesnt matter where your laws do or do not require you to ride"
Huh??? It does if you like to obey the law.
socomcorky 3 years ago
Yep. I'd rather have a car cut me off then pass 6 inches from me at 50mph. Scarey!
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
It does matter where the laws require me to ride and choosingt more to the right is LESS safe, not more safe. I am in less danger by being where I am, or in this video, more to the left would have been better.
freddotu 3 years ago
You're an idiot.
It's people like you who give cycling a bad name.
citizenloz 3 years ago
citizenloz, you'll find that my position on vehicular cycling is shared by foremost cycling experts all over the world. This includes experts in traffic law, in cycling law, in cycling safety and in vehicular cycling.
Thanks for your unfounded and inane comment. For your own safety and that of others, I recommend remaining a pedestrian, as you certainly have a pedestrian attitude.
freddotu 3 years ago
Shut the hell up thanks.

Sad thing is, that where I live nearly half of the drivers dont seem to understand why someone on a bike chooses to use the road. They need to be retrainned on bicycle laws.
CycleMan2200 3 years ago
oslo, a minor correction... most states require that bicycles follow the same laws as motor vehicles, but are considered only as vehicles, not motor vehicles. Your point is accurate however. It's unfortunate that most people on bicycles do not obey traffic laws which apply both to motor vehicles and human powered vehicles.
freddotu 3 years ago
"Its unfortunate that most people on bicycles do not obey traffic laws..."
And you know this how?
socomcorky 3 years ago
I know this by observation, over 13 thousand miles on a bicycle in the past three and a half years. I see it on the roadway every day. I could certainly clarify it by saying that most people who ride bikes on the roadway. Check out my club ride video to see more than 20 cyclists who blow stop signs and two blowing a red light!
freddotu 3 years ago
You are clearly an all knowing omnipetent super being. My apologies.
socomcorky 3 years ago
sifeca1, "lane that is designed for motor vehicles" is meaningless. Florida law states that bicycles have full use of the roadway. The roadway does not include the shoulder or bike lanes. Safe cycling is vehicular cycling.
freddotu 3 years ago
A bit anal.
The cyclist appears to be encroaching in the lane that is designed for motor vehicles.
It doesn't "feel" like it? Where is your tape measure?
I am not against your ideas, it is the delivery that ruins the message.
Sifeca1 3 years ago
I had a similar incident a few years ago. I caught up to the jerk at a stoplight. I pulled him out of his truck and beat the tar out of him. He had to be taken away in an ambulance. I had to take 'anger management' classes. I guess the hope is that next time I'll turn the other cheek?
JaleelJohanson62 3 years ago
When a motorist uses a 4000 pound vehicle to attack a defenseless cyclist, it is an assualt. I dont really blame you too much but as my Grandma used to say "Two wrongs dont make a right". Thats why I try to keep my cool and use a helmet cam so I can show the Police instead of pulling the jackass from the car at the next stoplight.
socomcorky 3 years ago
Very nice lesson to the driving public. Make room for human powered velomobile.
GoOneNA 3 years ago
together in paris:
Florida law does not require riding on the shoulder, nor does it require riding in bike lanes, both of which are more dangerous than vehicular cycling. Florida has a 3' passing law. That road does not have a bike lane and those that do are far too narrow to be safe. More than 11,000 miles of experience cycling here has shown me this.
freddotu 3 years ago
You could also move a little closer to the curb (at least some of the empty bike lane that you aren't using) as required by Florida law, right?
TogetherinParis 3 years ago
Now that I've spoken to his boss, I wonder if he'll try to get closer next time he sees me!
freddotu 3 years ago
Holy Crap. That was the same truck passing you two different times.
I believe there are only 10 states that have the 3' passing law.
It needs to be country wide and enforced.
