@Thexplodingunicorn Make a similar trap except instead of a glass bottle use a piece of screen formed into the container, that way you can put in a fish head or some kind of bait, you need something to attract the minnows, and also a screen allows water to flow through so the minnows stay healthy. And put a few rocks in there to weight it down so it sinks and stays put. The first time I tried this I was so surprised, i left the trap out for three days and had over 100 minnows.

@daggermail1999 You are probably right about the heat! Use as big a container as possible and visit often. Overnight may be too long, as the water in the jar doesn't circulate and gets stale. Don't put bait in the bottle for the same reason, fouls the water. HIH

Why teach this method to people? Yeah you'll catch minnows for bait that will run out after 1 minute of fishing. Second kids will leave their shit in the water and polute and foul up our water system. Go buy 100 shiners for about 5 bucks and that'll last you all day. THANKS.
