@Twinkles36 maybe jesus should have done a better job predicting the dumbasses who get themselves injured in the middle of nowhere and the uscg wouldn't have to risk their lives to save them. jesus isn't going to save the lives of seaman and airmen, what they learn at cape may, yorktown and petaluma will.
This is SAR on a whole higher level and the profession is taught over a course of years not weeks. The wash out rate for the Surfman program is comparable.
@ICECOLDCRAZY1 for your info Aviation survival technitions do the exact same EMT c school as the corpsman in the coast guard. They are filming the rescue swimmers primarily but they interview the piolts as well. The guy in the clip who is shown with their families is a LT who is apilot =)
@sarahkeck24 they guy playing baseball with his daughters and the one who says i love you daddy is a corpsmen's daughter. yes they go to emt school but thats as far as they go. we go to met school, then a school, and we all also have ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and some of use are alaska registered emt's as well. ill tell you like i told the other girl do your research. I'm stationed here i fly i know how this stuff works. why do you people argue with me?

I am nremt, Alaska emt2 acls, and phtls as well. You should really look into something before you comment. rescue swimmers are a great asset to the coast guard but they arent the whole coast guard. If you look closely the little girl in this vid who says i love you daddy is saying it to a AMS corpsman. do your research.
@missdanialexandria look at the vid and the medical bag being checked is our ams bag the bag the CORPSMEN use when we fly. there are only 3 units in the coast guard with flying corpsman KODIAK, SITKA, and CAPE COD. do some research
my husband is is currently being featured in this. he is a flight mech and does all the hoisting. the guys filming have been doing interviews with everyone that works with the helicopters so i think its going to be a real look inside of what all these guys do everyday and how they all work as a team.
@Waterclaw its really not that big of a deal, they have the prime-time local on the 8's and every half our they have a little live weather thing. But i do think they should get rid of a lot of the boring shows like when weather changed history, or it could happen tomorrow. I think storm riders is the only show that i like, well and cantore stories
