Seems slightly strange after watching the original series and they copy the lines almost exactly. The woman playing Mrs Slocombe doesn't quite have Mollie Sugden's comic timing. Interesting though.
Really cool footage; I only wish there was more to show. Add my voice to those who want to see more of the Australian version of "AYBS?". Thanks for sharing!
It always annoyed me that Mr Humphries never pointed out how bizarrely similar the Australian store (and the people in it) was to the one back in England.
The Aus version would have been a bit funnier funnier if the situations were all the same as the UK version, but Mr Humphries kept on realizing the strange sense of deja vu and would try to stop the crazy things from happening all over again...which resulted in even more craziness.
as far as i understand, channel 10 have no plans to release the Australian version to DVD. Also sometimes because of the age of the original master tapes and things like where they were stored, what format they were stored in, like for example No 96, some may have been lost or damaged over the years so perhaps they may no longer exist in their entirety.
I don't see the point of making a version for Aussie viewers.. they got the original version, there's no language barrier & nothing in it that an Australian audience wouldn't understand. What matters is not whether the characters sound Australian, but the quality of the writing & performance, which are both bound to suffer if you do a literal remake.
I understand that American tv producers recycled scripts when they transplanted shows from the UK, too, at least for shows early on. I think "Sanford & Son" had a few like that from the original "Steptoe & Son".
@Valkonnen You're referring to "Till Death Do Us Part" and "Man About The House", I believe. We tried to rework "Fawlty Towers" twice but neither worked. We even tried "Cracker", but without Robbie Coltrane, what was the point?
The woman presenter has fabulous tits.

I remember Shane Bourne talking about this on "Get This" with Tony Martin.

It seems that Mr.Humphries is one of a kind, they could never find another actor to play the role so well.

This might not be as good as the UK version, but I would still love to see a complete episode from Bone Brothers!

Looking at this clip it looks like some of the UK episode scripts were recycled for the Australian version.

@dumbbo1 "All in the Family" and "Three's Company" were two of the most famous American shows that were adapted from UK sitcoms.

@Valkonnen I actually prefer Three's Company to Man About The House & I'm English.
