some of those guys were from the horus heresy AND his personal guard, I.e. adeptus custodes, and yes he is shown both in the golden throne and walking around in his armour.
I think chaos is the true power cuz imperial guard,space marines,(soon in the Warhammer Soulstorm) Battle sisters belive in the emperor tha doesnt exist and they die for him.Imperial guard are a little bit comunist cuz if you retreat you will get shot.Chaos belives in Khorne and in return Khorne gives them power.... and they are too cool
I think you are a bit retarded. If you believe in Khorne you'll either end up a deamon or one of the many, many, many skulls on on his Khorne's throne of skulls. If you aren't a Chaos Space Marine the odd's of you surviving to deamonhood are slim to none. Oh and the IG have to be tough on their soldiers because they hold the line between the forces of Chaos and Terra.
Kalagarn wot u on about lol. the imperial guard are the real hearos! the space marines are in heavy tank like armor where the imp guard are in flak armor and have a lil flashlight for a gun. they take a pounding from the enemy but come back twice as strong. the space marines are just hard and cant be stopped they aren't in the smae class as the imp guard. as they do most of the fighting

as for the issue with guard. they server their purpose. they fight and die protecting the imperium just like marines. doesnt matter if they have cardboard armor or imperial spacemarine tatical drednaught armor they all fight and they all bleed and die for the emperor ^_^
