That's untrue. Chris Birchall is as white as they get and he played on the international stage for T&T.

While the selectors probably do lean towards African descended players, it is not unheard of for Euro/Indo Trinis to be considered. A fine example is Christian Cabral, who has not been selected for the national team, but has long been on the list of people the selectors have been watching.

that red card was terrible. that was a clean tackle with one foot, no matter how many times the commentator said it was a 2-footed tackle. trinidad and tobago showed real class by not arguing too vehemently, but you can imagine what was being said in homes and bars around the world.

it's a difficult one to call, the tackling leg definitely gets the ball but his trailing leg takes the man and follows very very soon afterwards, so it's almost 2 footed. in a more lenient era that would've been seen as fine, but he was certainly taking an unnecessary risk when already on a yellow card - world cups have some of the strictest (and sometimes worst) refereeing. and wilhelmsson play acts like a sissy so you just have to hope referee's dont fall for it!

no...it's possible to slide in with one leg pointing outwards and the other one not sticking out.

i wouldn't personally have punished him for this tackle because i think the rules are too strict, but still, knowing the rules he should have been more careful, ideally.

it was a horrible call. the lead leg took the ball cleanly. the rest of his body trailed behind. the other leg was there only because it's attached to his body in the same vicinity as the lead leg. textbook tackle.
