Just watche an interview with Dion DiMucci with Rayond Arroyo. Dion is a really classy guy. Sounds just as good as he did back then. The guy is 72 years young and hardly looks it.
@Davehenry55 This is the one that got away! Gene Schwartz (the producer for Laurie) must have been sleeping when he heard playback on this one! This should've been a single. How they blew it is still a mystery to me me 50 years later. Also listen to "King Without A Queen" on "Alone w/Dion". That one also joins the ranks of shoulda, coulda been a hit single. Simply fantastic!
@Davehenry55 Should have been a single! Check out "kKng Without A Queen" and you'll hear another album cut ("Alone w/Dion") that would have topped the charts!

TenStarsplus !!!! But then Dion could sing the New York City Yellow Pages and sound fantabulous pulling it off !!!! There's only ONE Dion DiMucci and anything by him is outa sight !!!!!! Thank you for posting this wonderful song by him !!!!!!!!
Two of the Del Satins (Fred Ferrara and Les Cauchi) joined Johnny Maestro and a few others to form the group Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge in 1968.
Hey, good for you! I imagine you come from a country with some cultural education in pop music like Sweden, if we exclude Ireland for being too fond of its own local colour, or perhaps one of the newest European countries keen to discover with pure ears. I live in Greece. It's a great song and thanks for YouTube I have discovered all (to us here) rare late 50s and early 60s.Thanks for replying.
Yes they are. They had a minor hit in the early 60's with "Teardrops Follow Me" which I saw posted on YouTube. I have the single & it's also on the Laurie compliation album "Collector's Records of the 50's & 60's" by various artists that I bought at a rummage sale 2 years ago (it's in great condition.)
singing in a doo wop group for 20 years i met so many of these groups.. met the del satins many times singing at the same shows with the brooklyn bridge. never met dion though. but this song lonely world was always one of my favs.. have'nt heard it in a long time thanks so much for sharing this song...
Dion and Del Satins fine performance on this pulsating rhythm backed song with some fancy organ work subdued in backround. This was featured on a Laurie vinyl album of Dion`s greatest hits, that also had "The Majestyk","Somebody nobody wants","Lonely teenager","Love came to me", "Lovers who wander","Runaround Sue" and "Sandy","Ruby Baby" , "Drip Drop".
Such cool hair dos.

An excellent song by Dion backed by the Del Satins that strangely didn't become a hit. I think it's his best "overlooked" song.

Yes this is The Del Satins why do so many on youtube , think anything with Dion was The Belmonts?

@rakeuiff
I also have an LP with this on it and it calls it the Belmonts... but maybe I missed the fine print :)

It's really Dion & The Del-Satins. The Belmonts were having hits of their own by this time.
vynilistic 3 years ago
I stand corrected, I always assumed it was the Belmonts because I own this CD. But I knew that in 60 or 61 Dion wanted to do his own solo thing.
The Del Satins are also some great doo-wop singers from the Bronx.

When they broke up Dion obviously became a bigger hit but I thought the Belmonts were good too.

I agree & this song is great-especially as just an album "filler." Laurie put it out later as a 45rpm after Dion went to Columbia.

This is Dion- backed by Del Satins after he left the Belmonts. Written by Ernie Maresca, it was on his Runaround Sue album.

Sorry about that. I'd just got it from the Best of Dion & The Belmonts CD. It's a great album though.

When Johnny Maestro of the Crests joined the Del Satins, they changed their name to the Brooklyn Bridge and had a couple of hits.
