I'm not saying be a pushover--it's perfectly OK to assert your rights, such as telling them you do not consent to a search or do not wish to give an answer to a question you're not required by law to answer--but it is in your own best interest to do this as politely as possible.

Once you do this, they cannot ask you ANY questions or talk to you in ANY WAY.
If you don't, then they CAN, and can play mind-games, tell you lies, tricks, offer to let you go if you sign things etc.
And you should also tell them you want to CALL your lawyer/family/friend etc. if they don't already.
You should ALWAYS have your lawer's number memorized, or his answering-service.

Well in the other part of the vid, he lets them search his bag, and he's got some spraycans so they say he sprayed some graffiti, and put him in the car and tell him if he confesses then they'll go easy on him-- so he does, even though he didn't do anything.
Of course this is bullshit, since he was under custodial arrest when he was in the car, and so his "confession" would be unacceptable.
But still they tell him to talk to the cops, which you should NEVER DO!

I was once threatened with arrest for "consorting with known jaywalkers" because some people I knew crossed the street in a jaywalking way to talk to me. The officer threatened to arrest us all for jaywalking, and I said, "But I didn't jaywalk, Officer. I was already on this side of the street." Then the officer realized how crazy he sounded, and we all laughed it off. Moral? Maybe sticking up for your rights politely works?

Don't lie, lying will just get you into trouble. Just politely keep your mouth shut and wait for your lawyer, you are never under obligation to answer police questions, and if they are asking you questions or for permission to search it's only because they don't already have proper evidence and are counting on you to incriminate yourself.
All of that said, if you really are a criminal I hope they get you, I don't condone crime, but I also don't condone random hassling by police.

I'm not saying be a pushover--it's perfectly OK to assert your rights, such as telling them you do not consent to a search or do not wish to give an answer to a question you're not required by law to answer--but it is in your own best interest to do this as politely as possible.
