  • Please remake this for the Wii.

  • So I've been trying to dig up some 'overlooked gems' of old PS2 and PS1 games to play. Honestly, this game is garbage. Games actually have to be gems for them to be overlooked gems. This one was overlooked for a reason, it stinks lol... I swear the generation that grew up on PS2 just doesn't know quality.

  • when i was little i really wanted this game because i played the demo at a sam's club

  • I can't really decide if the horrible voice acting takes away from or adds to the game.

  • @Kilsot Trust me it adds

  • Dude overlooked gem is a perfect title for this game, because it seemed that it never really made much of a hit in its prime, But it was honestly right up there with War of the Monsters as far as an old ps2 game that was overlooked but fun to play.

  • cool now i remember the name of game and can download for emulation :))

  • This NEEDS a sequel. THe name alone tells you how incredibly, epicly stupid it is, and how you'll love every moment of it. <3

  • the broken english made me lol

  • It's equipped with drills Oh no!

  • oh i love this game xD

  • i cant tell you people how long i have searched for this games name

    and then this video appeared

  • this needs a remake! FUN!!

  • 3:09 FALCON PUNCH!

  • They should've made a Godzilla game that played like this lolz

  • ROBOTS KIWW PEEPLE

  • Dude, I miss this game so much. I played it when I was much younger and TOTALLY forgot what it was called. Thank you, sir.

  • The only way I could ever stand to play that game (as interesting as it seems, controls-wise) is that if there's a way to turn off those friggin' AWFUL voice-actors... the girl's voice seriously hurts my ears, the professor's voice is, well, the stereotypical german voice that I can't keep a straight voice while hearing...

  • @telefeeb1 I totally agree on the voice actor thing, it is genuinely one of the most awful things ever, but I would really say work past it and play the game anyway. It's well worth it.

  • Robots kill people.

  • GAH. This game was intense. What I liked about it was that you could NOT chill for even a second. You had to have both thumbs on the analogs, all four fingers on the shoulder buttons, and be able to press the face buttons. Hell yeah.

  • GAH! Man the dubbing is bad, can't we just have the japanese dub with sub titles?

  • i over played the hell out of this demo

  • iif you want a copy of this game go to amazon.com, i have had this game for 3 years, then it got scratched. It sucked. No Rad for 2 years then just now i bought a brand new copy for 17.78 (us money)!

  • Ah, the torturous things you could do that girl with the pigtails. Play it right and you can absolutely ruin her life. XD

  • Ah yeah, I remember playing this game XD brings back good memories of riding a giant robot, to kill another :)

  • i was always looking for this damn game and could never find it, only got to ever try a demo for it, was flippin awesome i thought!

  • this game was actually pretty fun. It should be on the xbox live market place!!

  • WTF?¿ ITS LIKE TRANSFORMERS!!! XD LOL

  • I loved RAD..but my friend scrathed it badly and it won't work. Plus the fact I forgot how to play it as well as I used too.

  • One of the most underrated games of all time.

I'm glad I got my copy for $10 a long time ago.

  • Who else thinks "Giant Robo: The Video Game" when watching this?

  • @Kytseo Meh, the Giant Robo PS2 game isn't bad, but it's definitely not as good as RAD. Also the controls on Giant Robo suck compare to RAD. The controls of Giant Robo are more like the controls of the Tetsujin 28-go PS2 game (move with the d-pad, attack with the face buttons), I prefer the RAD and Remote Control Dandy SF control style (control the legs with the triggers, control the torso with the d-pad, attack (special attacks for RAD, all attacks for RCD SF) with the face buttons).

  • Still one of the best budget games ever made. There was a spiritual successor for the ds by the same makers but that sadly, it never made it to the u.s.. I played through that entire game, and it honestly deserved a localization.

  • lol does anyone recognize the voice of that girl in the end of the video? It's "Tails", from Sonic DX :D Check it yourself, watch?v=Pg-JtEj8ajA at 2:42 !

  • i hate the damn phantom system

  • i wish that there was a ps3 remake with better graphics and stuff

  • The mechanics were amazing, borderline flawless. Using the analog sticks for the arms & shoulder buttons for the legs:genius.

  • @ArmoredNinja2 Yeah it really DID feel like you were controlling a humongous robot and punching stuff. For me, it made me feel like I was IN all those Japanese Robot shows I watched and loved as a kid. The bad voice acting just added MORE to the feel of it.

  • This was an epic game to begin with, considering it was all crammed on a single DVD. Imagine what it would be like with some more polish & 1080p HD BIG SCREEN! Loved it. But I got rid of it (for undisclosed reasons) before I COULD BEAT IT! DARRGGGH!!! >_< Maybe they'll re-release it on digital download. \(*o*)/

  • I have it and love it!

  • What my friend and I first thought on seeing this game: "Rad? What kinda game is that? Oh well, let's give it a check, it's inexpensive."

We still don't regret it :)

  • Now this is a mech fighting game, if only there were more projectile weapons it would be perfect!

  • Loved every minute of this game! THANK YOU ENIX!!!

  • the drills make the same noise as the cerebral bore from turok lol

  • god i loved this game. Don't get me wrong, lot of things wrong with it, but this game was just plain awesome to a super robot fan. Weird thing to, i was looking for this game everywhere when it came out but couldn't find it. Then on a random trip out of town, i find it in a sam goody store for 25% off.

  • Me and my friend played this game so much, the disc wore out.

  • I loved this game! I actually cheerd the first time my rocket punch sent an exploding alien flying backward into a skyscrapper!; and that was just the demo! Roll the dice and make a sequil happen Squenix!

  • I remember seeing this. Now I finally saw actual gameplay footage...I NEED this game! Lol.

  • this game looks sooo....RAD! lol

  • What an amazing game! I used to play this game with my sister when we were kids! It was very hard for me to beat this game when I was very young but now that I'm a little older I think I can pass this game easily!

  • i loved playing this game my fav meganite was vavel

  • Everytime i tell people bout did game they have no idea wat im talkin about. Best game that nobody played

  • This is a fun game to play, i beat it over 5 times. I dont know why it's very underrated.

  • anyone here tried fighting by the shoulder of the meganite? Epic.

  • @jczialcita i always do standing on the head. it's awesome cause if the meganite falls he falls on you adding a new degree of difficulty

  • @jczialcita how about on the shoulder of the enemy... even more EPIC.

  • @jczialcita I have all the time. my FAVE P.O.V. to fight with. ...until my stoopid meganite throws me off doing a wild uppercut or something.

  • @jczialcita yeah it is but its a pain in the ass to do at the same time

  • I loved his game so much.

  • HAHAHA I love the over the top voice acting in this game...

Truly one of the most underrated games for PS2... its a whole lot of fun...

Earth Defense Force (360) reminds me a lot of this game.

  • The voice acting is really funny.

  • You should've used the transformed right arm.

Power punch has twice the range.

    loved 3:08.

    Watch out for ....

    ....

    ...

  • LMAO 2:51 ... robot bitch slap

  • Mika Banhara... Oh... Mika Banhara...

  • It was probably overlooked because of its voice acting, as that's the first thing I noticed.

  • wtf he flys?

  • Bought this game when i was a wee lad cause of the "awesome robot on the cover" . I had no clue of the epicness that would ensue.

  • Exactly. One of the best games on the ps2.

  • Oh my god. I used to play this game all the time when it first came out. And it STILL delights me to see it in play after all these years. Sad that it didn't really get alot of attention.

  • i know these games are completely different but im at an impasse as to which i should purchase first.

bear in mind im no huge fan of mech fighting

zone of the enders 1, or RAD?

  • a love this game but don't have it...can't find it now for sure!

  • You're absolutely right - this game is totally underrated.

  • "why? why is this one different?"

answer: it's pointed at the *enemy*.

    XD

  • But robots are evil!

    A robot killed grandma!!!!

  • Robots kill people.

  • Not released in EU. I cry. :(

  • I absolutely love this game, I wish there would be a remake for ps3

  • It would be so great to see this in a next-gen platform!

  • I fucked up so bad. I accidentally threw my copy of this game in the trash because I grabbed the wrong case. I had this busted disk so I put in a case, but I grabbed the case w/ RAD in it. Now I cant find it anywhere, it's one of the only games that I kept on my memory card for more than three years after losing it, usually I delete the files, but this game was so good. If anyone knows where I can get this game cheap, I'll be very grateful.

  • Love the game, but the dubbing, like the foriegn shows it was based on, sucks major balls.

  • I could see younger gamers not being patient enough to play this

  • I can see why kids don't like robot games or robot anime as much anymore here in AMERICA. :(

  • they just need to sit down and watch getter robo

  • Exactly, dude! Or, better yet, Gundam!

  • but only the older ones the newer ones just get a little too emo fo rmy taste

  • I agree! G Gundam was my favorite one! :D

  • i looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove that one

  • "MY FIST BURNS WITH AN AWESOME POWER! IT'S LOUD ROAR TELLS ME TO GRASP VICTORY! TAKE THIS! MY LOVE, MY ANGER, AND ALL OF MY SORROW!" "SHINING FINGER!!!"

I may not be fan of anime or manga, bit I only like giant robot anime. That's it.

  • like would you say it is for everyone or is it for a specific kind of gamer?

oh and at the beginning of the fight when the drill robot thing attacked you and the scientist was about to say watchout i just laughed my head off..

  • so would you recommend buying this game?

  • buy immediately...or ill find you...

  • dont get me wrong if i like it i will buy it

  • I can't believe I sold this game, I want it back now!

  • The voice acting for most of the characters was cheesy as hell and poorly done but despite that it was a really fun game.

  • i remember when i got older i laughed whenever mika did a live report

  • HOLY MOTHAFUCKIN BITCHA ZORDS !!!

    LOOKS AWESOME 8D !!!

so the point is that you can get aboard the thingy to fight so you have to find a good spot to see the action ?

    this idea is a fuckin'A !!!

  • well no you cant dude, i had this game for ps2, the major problem you couldent avoid was LOS(line of sight) the gameplay was really horrible. the idea is amazing, but if they made a new one i could see them fixing the LOS problem and it would sell huge

  • LOS isn't a problem, that's why you have to control the human to move around the city to get a better view of the battle. This game is fun as hell.

  • u bitch slapped that green bitch

  • this is a semi rare find even though it wasnt very popular youll still probly end up dropping like 20-30 bucks for it

  • lol i bought this for 8 bucks

  • where can i find a damn copy and why havent they made another one yet!!!

  • I don;t think this game sold well enough to ever see a sequel. I think you're best just hunting down the PS2 version if you ever want to play it.

  • try ebay...a warning they are the older purple bottom discs. good game to have in your collection.

  • @newplanet15 try gamestop and gamesplus they might have a copy but i doubt it :(

  • @kite10397 gamestop has it

  • @newplanet15 at gamestop is where i got mine u could also get it online

  • good game

  • Yep it is a good game. Man i remember when I've played this game, ahhhh good times.

  • same long time ago

  • Yeah I've played this like 5-6 years ago.

  • Piece of fuck!

  • not really a fan of meccha, but i would love to find it,

  • Advanced controls are the only way to go! Giant RC Robot FTW! Also, if you don't like Nanao you should try to mess with her. If you keep smashing her home and workplace in each mission she'll fall further and further into depression. Not only will she take on 'less savory' jobs, but she might just decide to e-....

  • e what?

  • *spoilers*

*total spoilers and stuff* blah duh she'll take on a job as an exotic dancer and even commit suicide *end spoilers*

  • for your info i dont care of the ending, its the fact that i got that far (that i care by the way)

  • you were using advanced controls which can be tricky but the basic controls are pretty smooth.

  • I feel like I would ENJOY the terrible acting, lol. What's better than some corny acting in a unique giant robot video game? I personally only ever liked The Big O as far as giant robots went, but this looks pretty cool.

  • that nanano is pissin me off. are you serious? they must have asked a relative to voice her over

  • I have been looking for this game for six years and finally found it three days ago. It was only ten dollars at a shitty furniture store that also has used games and movies. I'm so glad the guys who run that place don't know how rare this game is. They sell Final Fantasy VIII for forty dollars for Christ's sake. I was unbelievably lucky to find it for ten dollars. If you can find it, pick it up the first chance you get. You might not ever see it again.

  • Comment removed

  • That figures. If the game is rare that means I CANNOT BUY IT.

  • I never could stand the voice acting for this game at all. I used to have a demo disc that had the demo of this game playable and I couldn't get into it because of the voice acting and the controls. now after seeing you play I'm not sure if you just made it look easy of If I was going about fighting all wrong (in terms of strategy). I would give this game a try again but I don't think I would buy it.

  • I have found this game finally. I been trying to and it was worth it. Only ten bucks and if your a fan of giant robot anime or monsters move BUY IT.

  • The game looks cool but I hate that nanao already

  • Is there anyway to save her grandma? I spent so much time trying to beat that lv before it got to her house, but it never worked out. Its been bothering me for years, PLZ answer!

  • me too and no there is not a way. trust me that he way the story progress

  • haha i remmeber seeing this game in a magazine, then i got to play the demo. As soon as i got enough money i bought this game. A true underrated gem, this game may have had some bad voice acting, and a so-so story line, but it made up for it in the fighting system. The way you could control the robots, and how they transformed, made this game a blast to play. I still play it every once in a while. Great game, i would reccomend this to anybody, it is a must-play!

  • its weird becasue in th edemo sukeyuka said something like "a valgara gaint, it was real !" but in this he said "oh no ! run nonoa!"

  • i think the voice acting is intentional , its mimicking how Japanese people "Tark Engrish"

  • very hard to find

  • Yep. That's why I pounced on it when I found it.

  • My cousin got this game and I couldn't never find it, glad it's on your list.

I remember going 1v1 with him and having the funnest robot wars ever.

  • Is this backwards compatible with the 80 gig PS3?

  • All PS2 games are.

  • no they arent

  • It is actually, campy feel and all. I was employed at Enix U.S.A. at the time as a translator (Spent 5 years of my mid childhood in Japan).

Trust me, as a person who actually worked on the N.A. version of the game, the campy, over acted VO was done entirely on purpose.

  • can you get this game in canada or the us. but i mostly want to know if you can get this game in canada

  • I got it in the US, so you should be able to find it somewhere in Canada. If not, try ebay, or Amazon.

  • Worst voice acting EVER. Maybe. Still a guilty pleasure of mine. I fucking LOVE this game, it's a shame it won't work in my PS2 a good 83% percent of the time.

Seems like this game would lend itself well to the Wii, doesn't it?

  • Dont forget RE1's voice acting.

  • Honestly, I believe the bad VO is somewhat intentional.

  • Oh...My...God. I have been looking for this game FOREVER. D: I never knew the name, but I loved the demo. <3

  • Sandlot are realy cool making HUGE SIZE kinda mecha monsters, they are using the same engine like in Earth Defence Force... check it out.

  • this does look cool though! do you controll one of the mechs at the same time as the kid? or whats going on here?

i could learn to put up with the bad voice overs.. can you listen to it in japanese? sometimes i'll do that if the eng voice is wack.

  • I'm not sure if you can turn on Japanese VOs, but you control the kid until you hit the select button at which time you control the robot.

You're playing the game from the kid's perspective.

  • the game looks fun, but that has to be the worst voice acting I've ever heard.

  • I've heard a lot worse voice acting. Go watch vids of the original Resident Evil on the PS1, and even then, I've still heard worse.

The good thing is that if you hold down the start button, you speed through the story moments which can get annoying.

  • Does Robot Alchemic Drive have two player mode?

  • Actually, yes it does.
