Maka had been making then for over 30 years, I think they quit because many Italian companies started making similar ones, Maka were moving into making large CNC routers anyway, so I guess it was just time to move on.
It is a swing chisel mortiser made in Germany by Maka. Maka stopped making them in the 90s, you can still get used ones from time to time. There are several sizes / variations from huge multi-head industrial to small bench-top models. I usually have several for sale, I sometimes strip them down and rebuild them also.
