Neeson also is the dad in Fallout 3, and the churchly teacher in that one simpsons episode.... I'm just sayin jeremy is right when he says Neeson is a good actor.
Ras Al Ghul was the character Liam Neeson played Ducard wasnt in the movie as far as i know cause i watched it like 2 years back when the dark knight came out on DVD
Hell yea, totally glad your going back and reviewing older movies. I guess 2005 is old. ? But this movie was sick when it came out. Pretty much a smart person's comic book movie, without the Schumaker Bullshit Neon Lighting. And i'd have to go with the Dark Knight as best superhero movie. But keeping it old school, Ninja Turtles One. Had it all when I was a kid. Even the asshole/loner turtle complex that I looked up too. After that it seems that every comic book adaptation was made for kids.
Not true, there has been not-for-kids comic book movies before 89 such as Barbarella, Tales from The Crypt (1972) and Heavy Metal to Fritz The Cat, and even we had Akira, Wicked City, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (aka Warriors of the Wind) and Fist of the North Star which are awesome animated movies based on Japanese comics. In the 90s we had The Crow, Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky, Cemetery Man etc. which were nifty violent comic based film, seen any i mentioned?
Funny how u say "every1 plays their roles perfectly" n not even mentioning the fact that Christian Bale makes Batman pull off this ridiculous, cancer induced-Clint Eastwood impersonation, or how bland Katie Holmes was (just like in all her other movies)
My favorite super hero movie? Does that include cartoon movies? Because in that case it would have to be one of the older cartoon batmans Not old old, but kind of when batman became darker and more badass. I would have to drag out the tapes to give you names.
Jeremy told me he will review Batman The Animated Series sometime but maybe in time for the new movie and maybe he might do a retrospective review on the original Batman films plus maybe the 1966 movie, the animated Batman film Mask of the Phantasm, Sub-Zero and Under The Red Hood
The only gripe I have with this movie, is the terribly edited actions, don't start on me I love the movie, but just watch an action scene, and you'll know what I mean.
I think this movie actually might have been better than The Dark Knight despite the Joker's amazing performance. Both are amazing in their own ways, and I hope the third one is amazing as well, as it attempts to accomplish its own spin as well.
I find funny how people perceive Christopher Nolan as realistic. Yeah, because falling from a 20 story building onto a car and being able to walk immediately is perfectly realistic.
@ssssssssssssssssss50 Maybe the armor helps you to make the impact less hard, but do you remember the building from where Batman and Rachel felt? It was damn tall and if they felt in sand I would have bought it, but it was a car. The car was squashed like a soda can and both Batman and Rachel stood up like nothing happened. Not even an ouch.
@Mazmorrero2 Dude you do realize that he was half-way deploying his cape/parachute? That's how they survived. Go watch Dark Knight again. And yah the fact that his suit is actually military grade armor, I totally buy that he can withstand the fall from the end of the movie and that Two-Face died from it.
@ssssssssssssssssss50 Not to mention both Batman and Two Face felt from the same height at the end of TDK and Batman survived but Two Face died. Does that make any sense?
Batman Begins is not only my favorite superhero movie, but my favorite movie of all time. Pity it doesn't receive so much attention since The Dark Knight came out. In my opinion, Batman Begins is better in every way.
@slaidification Anything would be considered a resurrection after Schumacher's Batman films. It's impossible to make a worse film when you have George Clooney's wooden performance as The Dark Knight and Schwarzenegger's terrible ice puns. 'What killed the dinosaurs? The Ice Age!' - Awful, awful, awful.
I'd like to point out that Neeson plays Ra's Al Ghul. Ducard never existed. They wanted Ra's Al Ghul to seem immortal - like he was in the comics, while keeping Nolan's realistic approach and vision of the Batman universe. That is why they created Ra's Al Ghul's false identity. When you thought the real Ghul was dead, he came back. Read the comics. Ra's Al Ghul is one of Batman's biggest and greatest foes.
@aidenmccloskey well wouldnt he have originally been ducard before taking the title of ra's al ghul? the league of shadows had been around for quite some time before ducards wife was murdered and he became part of the LoS
@TheKBPictures That isn't explained in the movie. In the comics, Ra's Al Ghul is immortal. There's no mention in the movie that the name 'Ra's Al Ghul' is a title which is given to the leader of The League of Shadows. That much is unknown. As far as we know, Ra's Al Ghul is his real name. However, that's an interesting theory. Unfortunately, there's no answers to that subject.
@aidenmccloskey He isn't going to just give away one of the major plot points! Ducard is what he could say without ruining anything. So ducard is what he said.
@existenceisrelative Once the movie is released - it's no longer a spoiler. This review was recorded 5 years after the movie was actually released. If you haven't seen it by then, you really don't have the right to complain.
@aidenmccloskey The flaw in your logic is that not everyone is a lazy douche. Some people would rather not spoil a movie for no reason. Regardless of other peoples "right to complain".
@existenceisrelative There's my point proven right there. 'For no reason.' Thank you.
You know which type of people do things out of 'no reason' - dumb simplistic mindless fucking child-like retards.
It doesn't take effort in avoiding to spoil a movie. All you have to do is avoid mentioning it. That's a lot more fucking lazy than taking the time to explain it, isn't it? There's the flaw in your logic. My point is proven.
@aidenmccloskey Lol.. Kid please stfu... Basically you're saying so it came out 5 years ago you should have seen it. I highly doubt you've seen all the movies that have came out in the past 5 years have you? Now, i'm also pretty sure there are movies that have been produced the past 5 years that you would like to see and would not like be spoiled by watching a review. Besides most people don't go watch a review on something they have already seen.
@B0hlen 'Basically you're saying so it came out 5 years ago you should have seen it. I highly doubt you've seen all the movies that have came out in the past 5 years have you?' - Just the good ones. The ones worth seeing ;)
@ironbat1993 My fav. superhero movie too. Nolan did not care one bit about outting Batman on screen asap, he took his time to tell a story first....then, at the end, you witness the berth of the Batman myth flying over hallucinated criminals which will turn him into the legend they would fear forever.
My top 10 fave comic based films are Dark Knight, Superman, Superman 2 (Donner version), Batman Begins, Oldboy, Sin City, Watchmen, Heavy Metal, Akira and Ghost in The Shell.
It seems like ages since batman bigins was released
I never got to see it in the cinema because i was only 7 years old and It probably would have scared me like at the end when everyone gets gassed and starts going crazy.
@AtomNomCrom he meant that the last Batman film before Batman Begins, which was Batman and Robin, was clearly the worst of them all and that this movie made Batman cool again
There's only one Batman movie for me and that's Dark Knight.
Borefest Begins is a mediocre movie IMO. Sure it's better than the Schumcher crapfest but it doesn't come anywhere near as awesome as The Dark Knight.
Michael Caine can be subtly funny but his wisdom knows no bounds. He can deliver the lines perfectly while being stern yet comical lol. I love the fact they chose a man with a cockney accent, it just makes him seem more human and part of the Wayne family and not just a servant.
@EvanSol919 Both were really great, and have to be regarded as classics, but were relevent to that generation in the same way Nolan's Batman is relevent to this one.
Who wants this dude to review Batman Mask of the Phantasm? that's be awesome and he told me he is gonna review Batman the animated series just in time for the new movie
@TheCoffeeNut711 yeah dude i know but in order to understand what im saying you have to watch the evening with kevin smith videos, type on youtube Kevin Smith Tim Burton and enjoy.
@TheCoffeeNut711 Yeah. It was so cool. Yeah you know the one part where batman killed people left and right? Or the one part where Alfred lets a girl who he has had very little relations with into the batcave? Yep, very true to the source material. Then you have to take into account that Tim Burton has never read a comic book in his life, nor that his franchise was more burton than batman. So no. They wouldn't agree.
Awesome movie, i saw it 5 times in theaters and is one of the best comic based movies i've ever seen and been a Batman fan for 23 years since i was a kid seeing 89's movie in theaters. The sequel is even better. My top 13 fave comic based movies are Superman, Superman 2 (Donner cut is better), Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky, Watchmen, Heavy Metal, Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Road to Perdition, Mask of the Phantasm, Sin City and 300
Katie was a fox! this was the best reboot ever after Schumacher destroyed the series. On par with the Burton films and the awesome animated show you gotta admit. Scarecrow was cool but not as badass as he was on the animated show. Would you love to see Detective Bullock in the new movie?
Nolan did his research and portrayed the main villain really well. Since Nolan wanted the villains to be realistic he came up with a smart way of grounding them. Instead of reviving Ra's al Ghul through the supernatural Lazarus Pits he had him die then come back as another person assuming the "real" identity of the character. Getting around the Lazarus Pits in that manner was sheer genius. I can't wait to see how he grounds Bane with the whole Venom thing in "TDKR".
@LifterC3 Yes but at first he was perceived to be Ken Watanabe. Liam Neeson neverly outright declared he was the true Ra's. He more or less implied it. I think the name gets passed around in Nolan's version. There is no true Ra's. The name is immortal. But that's just my perception.
@curtiscoyoteblue well no, Nolan identified him as Ra's Al Ghul. But i dont want to ruin your perception as your right, he never implied to Batman's retorical question.
@LifterC3 Oh. If Nolan identified him as Ra's Al Ghul then my perception is ruined! LOL If it wasn't for "The Dark Knight Rises" being the last film, I'd be open to seeing Neeson return as Ra's. But then again, Nolan wouldn't bring him back because he wants these films to be as realistic as possible. I wish someone else would continue Nolan's Batman films but all evidence suggets "The Dark Knight Rises" will make it impossible for the story to continue after Nolan's done. Oh well.
Everybody always forgets that the penguin was a villian in batman begins. It's obvious that it's the penguin! He makes stuff animals that has drugs in them! And other shit like that! And the joker use to be a different villian. And I know I spelled Villian wrong.
I agree about the Scarecrow but he did appear in the Dark Knight and should be there a bit more in the Dark Knight Rises. I think, in the end, all will be tied up perfectly.
I LOVE this dude! He is actually hilarious and correct, really lol. Agree with it all, especially Michael Caine as Alfred. The fact that he's got a cockney accent just makes him more human and less of a servant and more of part of the family, which in this set of films, is needed. Plus, YES on epic characters and actors, Scarecrow could've been used more but oh well, and F*** ROBIN, that homo, he has NO place in these movies. Also, get ready for surprise in how he takes DKR ;)
it was really more the shock value of seeing Mr. Mom in the cape and cowl, but that's a good point; still, Keaton doesn't really seem like the action type, so it was a bold step. oh man, i'd totally forgotten Equilibrium! still, it really is a to-each-their-own scenario; i do still enjoy the fresh take on Batman, i'm just saying that i thought the relative continuity of the Burton films was that little bit more appealing to me.
"Batman Begins" did save the silver screen Batman, no denying. The story was informative and dramatic and the characters were very well cast, but it seems to be too involved in the action and not enough on the mystery. My biggest peeve is Christian Bale, who plays Bruce Wayne very expertly, but will never be Batman for a few reasons. One, his Batman doesn't have a voice, he has lung cancer and congested sinuses; Two, he isn't large enough.
okay, sure, his batman voice wasnt great in the first film, but in the second he nails it! its too stop people recognising hes bruce wayne so hes going to make it as different as possible..
and secondly, bale got up to 180 pounds for batman begins.. hes a tank..
@Jezzahowie - Batman Begins was actually the better voice, I think, because there actually was a voice. I was reminded of Michael Keaton in "Batman" and "Batman Returns", whose voice was dropped to a faint snarl, projected to sound menacing, and was still recognizably Michael Keaton. The second problem is one that all live-action Batmen have in common; physical stature. Bale is six foot nothing at best, while Batman is supposedly 6 1/2 feet, 250 pounds.
@MarcTaker clearly Nolan cast him because he can act. remember, this is different medium and different take on Batman. NOBODY can do justice to Batman like Nolan did.
@Linkcrc - when did i say Bale couldn't act? i think he's a perfect fit as Wayne, i just don't think he's a perfect fit for Batman; but in the provided setting, he still does kick a lot of ass. as for Nolan's justice, again, i never said it was bad. i just preferred Burton's films more. as long as we all agree that Schumacher should never even SAY the word 'Batman' ever again.
@underthehoodfan11 - he was certainly a closer interpretation than Nolan's but that was the point. Nolan's is an original, modernized take on the character with loose basis on the source material / Burton's was more of a representational piece.
Neeson also is the dad in Fallout 3, and the churchly teacher in that one simpsons episode.... I'm just sayin jeremy is right when he says Neeson is a good actor.

@TheCoffeeNut711 yeah dude i know but in order to understand what im saying you have to watch the evening with kevin smith videos, type on youtube Kevin Smith Tim Burton and enjoy.
romas1995 1 month ago
@TheCoffeeNut711 No, not any, because I don't. It had its time..
MarcusKiner 1 month ago

My top 13 fave comic based movies are Superman, Superman 2 (Donner cut is better), Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Riki-Oh The Story of Ricky, Watchmen, Heavy Metal, Akira, Ghost in The Shell, Road to Perdition, Mask of the Phantasm, Sin City and 300
Johnlindsey289 1 month ago
@VertigoRockZ
Well the first 2 mainly Richard donner's cut of Superman 2 were good, part 3 was goofy and part 4 was a terrible film while Returns is a mixed bag

Katie was a fox! this was the best reboot ever after Schumacher destroyed the series. On par with the Burton films and the awesome animated show you gotta admit. Scarecrow was cool but not as badass as he was on the animated show. Would you love to see Detective Bullock in the new movie?

Damn right, Supergirl has been one of my first comic book crushes since the 80s when i read my brothers Superman comics

@curtiscoyoteblue Um, Liam Neeson was Ras All ghul.
LifterC3 1 month ago
@LifterC3 Yes but at first he was perceived to be Ken Watanabe. Liam Neeson neverly outright declared he was the true Ra's. He more or less implied it. I think the name gets passed around in Nolan's version. There is no true Ra's. The name is immortal. But that's just my perception.
curtiscoyoteblue 1 month ago
@curtiscoyoteblue well no, Nolan identified him as Ra's Al Ghul. But i dont want to ruin your perception as your right, he never implied to Batman's retorical question.
LifterC3 1 month ago

Master21768 2 months ago
Great review for a great movie.
I agree about the Scarecrow but he did appear in the Dark Knight and should be there a bit more in the Dark Knight Rises. I think, in the end, all will be tied up perfectly.

Even though The Dark Knight is clearly the superior movie over Batman Begins, it doesn't bring it down at all.

Also, get ready for surprise in how he takes DKR ;)
illevenlickthegravy 2 months ago
I read that Scarecrow was going to have an expanded role in The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight: needs more two-face
All in all, awesome movies

it was really more the shock value of seeing Mr.

MarcTaker 3 months ago
@MarcTaker are you kidding??!?
okay, sure, his batman voice wasnt great in the first film, but in the second he nails it! its too stop people recognising hes bruce wayne so hes going to make it as different as possible..
and secondly, bale got up to 180 pounds for batman begins.. hes a tank..
Jezzahowie 3 months ago
@Jezzahowie - Batman Begins was actually the better voice, I think, because there actually was a voice. I was reminded of Michael Keaton in "Batman" and "Batman Returns", whose voice was dropped to a faint snarl, projected to sound menacing, and was still recognizably Michael Keaton. The second problem is one that all live-action Batmen have in common; physical stature. Bale is six foot nothing at best, while Batman is supposedly 6 1/2 feet, 250 pounds.
MarcTaker 3 months ago
@MarcTaker clearly Nolan cast him because he can act. remember, this is different medium and different take on Batman. NOBODY can do justice to Batman like Nolan did.
Linkcrc 3 months ago
@Linkcrc - when did i say Bale couldn't act? i think he's a perfect fit as Wayne, i just don't think he's a perfect fit for Batman; but in the provided setting, he still does kick a lot of ass. as for Nolan's justice, again, i never said it was bad. i just preferred Burton's films more. as long as we all agree that Schumacher should never even SAY the word 'Batman' ever again.
MarcTaker 3 months ago 24
@MarcTaker burton's batman is NOT BATMAN
underthehoodfan11 2 months ago
@underthehoodfan11 - he was certainly a closer interpretation than Nolan's but that was the point. Nolan's is an original, modernized take on the character with loose basis on the source material / Burton's was more of a representational piece.
