@GamerGirlPs3 All of the work shown used CINEMA 4D. Some other tools will also have been used such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects. You can do projects that only use CINEMA 4D but if you have other tools it can save time to use a combination and use each tool for what it is best at. CINEMA 4D works very well with After Effects, with export of the 3D camera, lights, multipass rendering, multiple object masks, export of nulls - a lot of broadcast work uses both apps.

Just a shame that Maxon seem totally incapable of coming up with decent rigging tools. The lack of consistency in their updates, often abandoning one non functioning method for another which generally also fails to work as it should, means that the user ends up wasting unbelievable amounts of time trying to figure out a software that simply doesnt work. Bugs and workarounds are simply symptoms of a package that doesnt work as advertised.

@barbarasales1993 It's called CINEMA 4D because the fourth dimension inside of CINEMA 4D is time. You can change almost any setting in CINEMA 4D over time to animate things, so this is the idea of the 4D.

It's humbling to watch this demo reel. I can't even begin to fathom how some of those things are done. How many man hours does it take to create some of those scenes? How many people does it take; Are these projects months in the making or days with one person.

@wizziebaldwin The project time varies a lot, from several weeks for some high profile shows to hours for some of the news channels who need graphics fast for the latest news stories (royalty free models can help!).

Some of the studios render the animations over a network of computers, using CINEMA 4D's Net Render, to help get the animation out quickly.

@wizziebaldwin months with a good team, years if u do it alone, im an expirienced user, and i can tell u that if you want to make your name in 3D, and then lets say animate it, or make it explode, that would take u about a week, but it would still look like crap because u didnt add lightning, reflection, rigging etc etc, making something like this takes alot of expirience, patience, knowledge, and imagination

@blofeldfan33 It's from many different users so will be a mix of different CINEMA 4D versions. Also most professional work will have used some other tools as well as part of the process such as Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, which all work very well with CINEMA 4D. But this work has been chosen as it is very CINEMA 4D heavy. Often it would be possible to do all the work in CINEMA 4D only, but it can be quicker to use each app for what it is best at.

The larger projects are most likely rendered in a Render Farm.

If a single machine does it on its own, it can take a very long, long time to complete the task.

Even with the new 64bit systems, it is best to use a farm to render your larger projects.

Wow cinema4d seems like a crazy product and you can make some beautiful things with it. Is it more of program to do small things to a video? I've never heard anyone use it as a straight up editing tool, but to make features look nicer. I had no clue C4D was used in so many industry commercials.

@crazyspooks10 CINEMA 4D is used in commercials to do 3D visual effects, to create 3D models of products (it can be much easier to work with a 3D model when you animate than using a real life product), to do cool 3D logo and text animation, to animate characters, to make objects fracture, bounce and collide, etc. Basically, to do advanced 3D you can't do in a video package.

CINEMA 4D also have a very good connection to tools like Adobe After Effects, so you can easily add your 3D renderings.

CINEMA 4D is well known for being easy to use. It is used in lots of different industries, but it is especially strong in broadcast/motion graphics. It has a great connection to apps like After Effects, has unique motion graphics tools, is on Mac and Windows, and has some very cool, easy to use dynamics tools.

@JONIMASAKIS CINEMA 4D does not import SketchUp files, if you have SketchUp, you could try exporting the models from Sketch Up in a file format that CINEMA 4D supports, such as Collada.

go for gtx 480 if you can. Anything less will mean to get a bike and go for a ride while rendering is being made. If you use adobe products too, scratch it. Go for nvidia quadro fx1800 or quadro 2000. Reason: adobe products is limiting cpu process to only 3 tracks. Sli on nvidia cards is a joke for rendering video. Unless you use it on games you won't need it. Regards!

@RomanticHeaven Its your graphics Memory lol. 256 wont cut it... It will render but very slow.. You would want atleast 1GB of Video Memory which would require a new Graphics card.
