@crazyknight2008 In these times we all have to do what we can, but in case you didn't know, the negotiation to lower your settlement bruises your credit more than paying the full amount. The reason you got the lower payment was because the collections agency BOUGHT your debt from your original creditor for less than what you owed. Therefore they did not need to recoup the full amount owed to break even or make a profit on your debt.
I work for a debt collection law firm and I would be fired so fast if I said any of those things to a debtor. Nor would I ever want to, that's just disgusting.

Wow I have this happen to me for about two years, about four times a week. I call a lawyer but, they wanted $400 bucks just to sit down. I called this company 888-925-9301 and they help me with my debt
I had this happen to me for debt I never owed. I had my friend's boyfriend call and pretend to be my father and he started threatening them and said I know where you work you Jack Logan and I know what you do in that there San Francisco even though it was some outsourced guy in India somewhere. It was so funny to mess with his head. I was scared at first because of the threats to go to jail but I realized it was a scam.

Love it! Every time a debt collector tried this one with me I filed court papers got the debt removed from my credit and received damages in an amount high enough to pay of the original debt which I was happy to do. I always do my best to pay my bills but I fell behind on hospital bills a couple times and the bill collectors were horrible spineless jerks.

First of all not ALL debt collectors are like that. Second of all, it's the debtors who have way more rights than they should. If I'm a debtor, and a collector calls me, I can call them anything I want, and they can't do anything, but if the collector says something wrong, then they get punished. Remember, in the end, they're just trying to do a job, and as long as they're showing respect, the other person should as well.

Just got a call today for a $639 bank checking account dept in my name. Not even banking with that bank.. I am in the process of getting recording capability. I think when i get my new phone I will look for an app that does just that. Then will take legal action. Exciting : )

My brother works for a Personal Debt Collection company. They specialise in resurrecting old debts, even going back to the mid 90s- hassling people for money they had mentally ‘written off’ years ago.
One technique they are taught is to “Go in hard, make them cry, then become a loving father”- in one recorded conversation he made kissing noises in the mouthpiece (“Baby, Big Daddy loves you!”) as the woman on the other end screamed & begged for mercy- it was like listening to incest-rape.

Did you get anything from this video? Notice how all communications were recorded. If you decided to spend a large amount of credit on garbage, why not invest $5 on an answering machine, and record any and all conversations? Keep records of the correspondence they send you. Then research your state law on consumer debt collection practices as well as federal law, if the debt collector is going above and beyond what their statutory authortiy sue them.

Many Collectors try to get money that has already been ridden off by ALL authorities. Get a credit check and do your homework. When you get your credit check, go over it and when these fuckin bastards call and threaten you - you have the legal forms in front of you and you argue with them ....7 yrs the debt purges (goes away) but collectors try and SCAM you. I am a responsible person. I was serving in Iraq and my bills weren't being paid. When I came home, I found out that a debt collector (Portfolio Recovery) was harrassing my family constantly. Since I was recovering from an Iraq injury in a California naval hospital, I paid the account in full over the phone. This was 8 years ago. Now, they are calling again asking for money. I paid the collector over the phone 8 years ago. I don't have proof. How can the government let these collectors do this?

Love it! Every time a debt collector tried this one with me I filed court papers got the debt removed from my credit and received damages in an amount high enough to pay of the original debt which I was happy to do. I always do my best to pay my bills but I fell behind on hospital bills a couple times and the bill collectors were horrible spineless jerks.

That is because most of the time its not that simple -- if it was that simple then the client wouldnt bother handing the account to a debt collector in the first place
To be fair with these huge amounts no one ever pays them upfront - the normally take years on a Payment arranagment or legal action.. which isnt cheap

First of all not ALL debt collectors are like that. Second of all, it's the debtors who have way more rights than they should. If I'm a debtor, and a collector calls me, I can call them anything I want, and they can't do anything, but if the collector says something wrong, then they get punished. Remember, in the end, they're just trying to do a job, and as long as they're showing respect, the other person should as well.

My brother works for a Personal Debt Collection company. They specialise in resurrecting old debts, even going back to the mid 90s- hassling people for money they had mentally ‘written off’ years ago.
One technique they are taught is to “Go in hard, make them cry, then become a loving father”- in one recorded conversation he made kissing noises in the mouthpiece (“Baby, Big Daddy loves you!”) as the woman on the other end screamed & begged for mercy- it was like listening to incest-rape.

The only exception is business debt, and that may or may not be covered in other law. They aren't even allowed to put the name of their company on the envelope they send the letters in, as the mail carrier might recognize it as a debt collection agency and know that you are alleged to owe a debt.

If you decided to spend a large amount of credit on garbage, why not invest $5 on an answering machine, and record any and all conversations? Keep records of the correspondence they send you. Then research your state law on consumer debt collection practices as well as federal law, if the debt collector is going above and beyond what their statutory authortiy sue them.

Many Collectors try to get money that has already been ridden off by ALL authorities. Get a credit check and do your homework. When you get your credit check, go over it and when these fuckin bastards call and threaten you - you have the legal forms in front of you and you argue with them ....7 yrs the debt purges (goes away) but collectors try and SCAM you. I am a responsible person. I was serving in Iraq and my bills weren't being paid. When I came home, I found out that a debt collector (Portfolio Recovery) was harrassing my family constantly. Since I was recovering from an Iraq injury in a California naval hospital, I paid the account in full over the phone. This was 8 years ago. Now, they are calling again asking for money. I paid the collector over the phone 8 years ago. I don't have proof. How can the government let these collectors do this?
