  • YEAAAAH!!!! im trying it at 24 years old in slow version... i keep trying

  • Bravissimo :D!!! Lo spartito dove si può trovare??

  • Well done indeed, absolutely great!

Of course, the musician is the focal point of the video, but I must compliment his instrument. That piano is awesome.

  • it's ok, but next time play slower funkier and with your heart. At the moment you play just like a robot.

  • how old are you? :)

    you´re so amazing

  • @Fexxo1 thanks :) now Tommaso is 14...in this video was 10 ;)

  • @peraz82

    TEN?

    OH. MY. GODNESS. :D

When did he actually start playing the piano? :o

  • @Fexxo1 :) Tommaso starts at 5...

  • @peraz82

Probably the right age then. :D

  • too fast but still cool awesome

  • wow really nice..... for your age... wow

  • Just a few more years and you will be very very good! Try to study how to improvise better with feeling though and start going "outside" ala Herbie! Still brilliant at your age!

  • way to go young man

  • Wow man great tallent!! Fuck some stupid comments, as if we can't make our own versions....some people just can't get rid of their books!

  • Just started working on this one with my band. I know vibes play differently than piano, but it's nice to see how other people play the piece. Good job.

  • Hey... I'm writing from Portugal.

I'm amazed with your skills! :D

I loved it so much that a made some vocal editing on this video. You can see it in my channel.

Hope you like it because for me it's a pleasure "playing with you" and I would like to honor your work, ;)

  • let him play fast if he wants.....i think its bitchin.....

  • Is yours the piano??? Wow! With this structure you gonna go far! Congratulations!

  • very nice playing young man just a tad slower.

  • slow down, this is not metal XD

  • Oh my god, too fast kid! Fantastic technique, but no style!

  • WOW... SENSATIONS... A LITTLE MOST EXPRESSIVE... AND WILL BE PERFECT...CONGRATULATIONS..

  • slower!

  • muy bueno pendejo!!!

  • Cool!

  • omg!! he is sooo good!

  • Fantastico

  • needs some more feel realy, i mean, tell him to play a real rendition not written crap.

still, there is good talent here.

  • fucking great job... very nice.. :D

    i´ll try it too :D

  • good ol' blues scale. Can't go wrong when your impovising,

  • I would have enjoyed this, but I am too cynical to enjoy watching a child do better than me at something.

    Well done, though.

  • Inspiring bro..

  • Fofo, que bom gosto musical. e toca muiito.

  • Much too fast!!!

  • O M G.. Wow you play very well !! Great job. I enjoyed your version-----> +1000/5

But i can't give you thousand stars.. Only five :)

  • Good job!!

  • Pretty kewl!!

  • your songs are so cheerful :) do you wanna be a piannist?

  • how old are you? I'm so wondered

  • @soulofseverus

He already is - he plays the piano, he obviously enjoys playing the piano, so he is a pianist.

  • hey tommaso, can u send me sheet music please? or anyone who have it please?

  • @nunolourisela

    It's:

    4 x Fm7

    4 x C#m7

    4 x Dm7

    4 x Fm7

  • @gamecubepim

    Actually it's Db7, not C#m7.

And yea, it's the same "note" - but in the scale of F minor - that chord will be called Db and not C#.

    Plus it's not minor.

  • Sounds fair. I am really bad at chords and notes, I just know how to play them well. Thanks anyway ;)

  • what kind of mental disorder he have?

  • @krispig123123123

    It's called Talent.

  • @Obversity yes ofcourse but he has a mental disorder to like aspberger or something like that but he rocks on the piano? even if cantaloupe isnt that hard but he is really good!

  • @krispig123123123

It's possible that he has AS, but many pianists look odd while improvising. AS isn't an overt disorder; I was diagnosed a few years ago but few could tell.

He's definitely good. Give him a few years and a better recording device and he'll sound brilliant.

  • BRAVO TOMMASO !!!

  • cool ashhashhas very very cool

  • You rock mate :D, I love this song

  • I always hate it when small children play better than me. Lol, great job, +5

  • Very good! Is it your solo improvisation? Or is it a written solo? If it is the second, could you please send it to me (a)

  • Bravo keep going ahead....

  • Tommaso sei davvero bravo, continua così e sempre divertendoti, l'allegria innanzi tutto.

Tommaso very well done, you're walkin' the right way, go on always having fun, the joy before all.

  • lovely!

  • im playing piano since 4 years and im 22.... i have to say I could it better but I wish I were 10....

  • woow cool

  • Yes, it is great! and I'm sure you're sick of hearing it, but remember that fast is easier than slow, thats why people want it slow.

  • sometimes slow, sometimes hard and fast ;)

  • I am blatantly jealous, although I found it too fast at the start it's a great version, well done!

  • Very cool! Go and get some sunglasses!

And: I like it that fast!

  • too fast ;)

  • nothing wrong with it being too fast at least he has rythm and at 10 years old thats impressive

  • yes... but it was suposose to be like this!

In the description says that is just his version.

  • awesome!!!! hang in there, your great!!! 5

  • Why to fast ? I think it`s great like this...it would be boring if it would be slowly. Or maybe you are jealous that he can play like this:-)

  • this is epic

  • yes, a little bit to fast but a great solo

  • Anybody not giving this kid a 5, is a jagoff !

  • i think u were great, although it wasnt the real piano sound. i give it 4 stars

  • hes only 10 years old, I think that in itself deserves a 5stars but in my opinion I'd give it 5 stars regardless of age

  • Mechanical and fast , but stills pretty cool!

    4 stars for you!

  • well.. he is 10 years old and he is maybe not old enough to understnad music on the level, he plays more freely.. but his technique and his feeling is awesome, me as a child oufff ^^, not even half as good as him :)

  • so awsome!

    gimme that solo hehe (A)

  • hi...can you send me the score????

  • cantaloupe island into google images. two scores come up. they are slightly different, but both right.

  • After finished he say: "Mom, can I go downstairs and play soccer with my friends now?" :)

    Very good, I like him!

  • Don't mind people being critics kid. That's better than what I could do at 10. Just a bit too fast. Either than that, amazing job. Keep going no matter what everybody else says.

  • all i can say is: WOW!! AMAZING!! FASCINATING!! COOL!! WONDERFUL!! BRILLIANT!! STUNNING!! GREAT!!

  • what you do isn't very " WOW " because you only play on Fm and Db the blues scale , everyone can do that , you don't even improvise on Dm ...

Damn you people , stupid ??

  • this guy is less than half your age...

  • WOW! That's blew my expectations out of the water!!! Simply stunning. Keep pushing yourself, and I am sure we will see you gracing stages around the world!

  • bravo pour ce très jeune pianiste très à l'aise dans l'improvisation. j'adore, je vais m'en inspirer...

  • Carry on Tommy! Haters never quit and winners never lose!

    Teflo2

  • great, but don't do it so fast!

  • i know everyones like 'ohhh ur brilliant" and you are a good player, but to be completely and brutally honest with you, your learning will never end. my conservatory teachers performed with the presidential band for more than a little time and hes the tip of the iceberg in theory. there arent really that many different or alternate theories but just different modes, playing styles and chord constructions, keep humble.

  • I 'm sorry, but I'm only 12!

    And that's no critic!!!

That's a thing that he can do better!!!

I've also said, that he is very good!!!

    And he is!!!

But if everybody says, that he does perfect than he maybe doesnt work anymore!!!

So please pay attention for what your saying!!

  • Hey kid forget about the critics I think you play. like a pro....and as far as all these guys talkin' about this and that about Bill Evans...I personally sat with him and copied his music in the back of Shelly's Manhole...and he was a very humble guy...so keep up the work kid you're a pro.l

  • GRANDE TOMMY!

  • you are doing very well.

and I hope you will continue like this...

but this piece of music wants to be groove.

coll down - dont do it so fast.

    but CONTINUE!!!

  • The kids like 10? You cant expect that he will be 'groovy' at that age.

  • maybe this is his style. at least i like it.

  • Bravo Tommaso!!! Bel pezzo... continua così!!! 5 stelle!

  • this kid is the shit!

  • very talented and gifted. you will shine when the time is right. playing like that at that age, just imaging when you get older

  • waaaayy to fast! slow down!

  • very true. We all know you're good, kid... now learn style and tact. No doubt you'll be great - but learn to play w/ heart and meaning rather to impress. Good Job, though!

  • very excellent, play it for me anytime !

  • you play it really too fast. It does not groove at all.

  • hes white.

  • like Bill Evans, Keith Jarret, Chick Corea and 90% of any world famous classical pianist. By the way, who cares?

  • Bill Evans was white.

And you're a plain ignorant: "he's white", not "hes white".

  • Right, he plays it fast. But there is alot of Groove by the way. I think if he played it a bit cooler, it could be groover :D

  • maybe, it has a bit of groove, but slower tempo could make this much better... but for a 10 yo, this is a lot... great jazzy parts

  • Hey Billy, are you Mozart? How did you played at 10? who cares is the tune is fast? the kid has a great future is he keeps playing.

  • can't wait to hear this kid in a few years. what's his full name?

wanna keep an ear out for him

  • Para la edad que tienes, tu nivel es altísimo. Tienes duende chavalote!!!

For youe age. You have a high skill. You have a gipsy soul

  • that was fantastic - thanks for sharing

  • Semplicemente un fenomeno!

  • One wouldn't dare imagine what this kid is gonna be like when he's college age. Keep on keepin on, Tomasso! :)

  • bravo tommaso!

hai talento , non buttarlo! continua così

  • wow maan!!! im a drummer but i really admire u man!!gr8 vid

  • Amazing!!!!

  • Keep playing! youre a great talent!

  • A crazy!!!!!!!

  • dude, this is sick! nice improv.I do the smae thing on my saxaphone. U should get like, an sax player, or somthin to jam with.

  • lol my school jazz band is playing this song...instead of this song i play "One For the Mooch" on piano...lol

  • Amazing, thanks for sharing with us, you are truly talented, keep it up! =D

  • wow nice job!

  • You are my new youtube hero of the week..perhaps month! very talented..and great song! keep up the good work sir

  • Awesome! Excellent! I'm eighteen, and i try to improvise with the right hand while keeping the left hand, but i just find it too hard. But i'm sure that with some practicing i'll get there, just like Tommaso!

Congratulations, you play really well, good job! Keep playing jazz, you'll go far.

  • Keeping the right hand going while improvising is possible but from my experience it takes a lot of practice to get there. this is a good piece fro learning that kind of thing (ive been playing cantaloupe for about 3-4 years, and i can now play most of the rhythms i want to use for r.h. solos over the l.h. bass part)

  • excellent job!!!!!!

  • awesome at 1:20 on

  • i really like urs :) very amazing. It'd be perfect if u slow down a lil bit :)

  • does anybody has a sheet for me?

  • try pianofiles or pianosheets (they are open for new registrations right now)

  • Great!

Keep the left hand while improvising is really hard...

Maybe you could experiment a little getting out of tone in the improvisation...it's too pentatonic...However, great talent...

    Keep on jazz!

  • "Keep the left hand while improvising is really hard..."

    Practice is the magic word

  • Nice, dude. Hope you go pro!

  • dude u got some serious skill!!! no doubt!!! stick with it! Jazz for life

  • THis kid is a genius

  • I hate it when people say it's too fast or too slow. It doesn't have to be an exact replica, it's his own rendition. Obviously this cat has the talent to play it slower if he likes, but doesn't want to.

  • oops herbie would be very proud of your playing lil man well done ,keep it going!

  • herbie would very proud of your play lil man well done!!!!

  • Great soloing shows you have good understanding of it. But, the tempo is fast, I want to enjoy the music, not feel like I'm being chased.

  • cool! check my version of cantaloupe too.(improved solo on piano)

  • You're on your path to enlightement. You just need to slow down a bit though ;)

  • thanks! :) ...but nothing to do, tommaso like plays this song at this tempo, ;) also note the mix between the cantaloupe bass riff and the watermelon man pattern!

  • really awesome!! congratulations...

  • i love his improvising!It's amazing

i wouldn't be able to do that!!

  • too fast

  • very, very, nice!

  • wow thats awesome. keep up the good work. i do think the original bit is a bit too fast but the tempo really suits the groove you have going. That improv is great.

  • Dude.... he's 10. Would you really expect a 10year old to impress Herbie Hancock?

  • Not like Herbie, but the orginal song has some groove too, this is like some train some comes and goes..

But that's what I think. I have heard many better versions played by kids like him in this video.

    Nothin' personal.

  • OOK ILLL ADMIT I"M JALOUS

  • you good! i did those things too when i was 10. Same style on piano i mean, please dont think i'm jalous cuz i thik you're awesome.

  • you are amazing! how old are you?

  • Thanks ;) Tommaso has played this song at 10 years old! Bye
