My main problem with these Pippen and Hill comparisons was that it was all stats...when it came down to it...Grant Hill was a good defender, maybe even very good at his best....but Scottie Pippen was a genius, an all nba, all world all time probably the greatest perimeter defensive player of all time. Hill just can't beat that.

@BarstoolBlues33 The differences were that Hill didnt have time to reach his full potential. Grant was a better slasher/driver to the basket. Pippen was a better defender and had mroe range. But Grant could have become a much better shooter and defender. Unfortunately, injuries took away Grant's true potential.

@tmilatos Easily. They were functional, light, great durability (which is all but gone from modern cheaply made Nikes) ... and the looks was just so fresh. I mean look at them out there. Now everyone goes with bright colors to get noticed. These were just white, black, and ice clue soles. Goes with home and away uniform and just looks so CLASSY.

You are very right about that.when the bulls won 69 regular season games in "97, 3 other teams won 50 games or more in the bulls divison,(ATLANTA,CHARLOTTE & DETROIT)not to mention a great INDIANA squad as well. How good and dominant do you have to be to win that many games, being in a competitive division like that, it's unheard of. maybe you can win "69 games with one other team in your divsion winning 50+games, but not 3 separate teams, just goes to show you how great CHICAGO was.

This compare between Pippen and Hill isn't right, couse Pippen played with GOAT on the same team, and he still had same numbers. And Hill was the only superstar of Piston. Pippen was much better player, That is why, he is one of the greatest of all time.

When people try & pull that "watered down" argument, I ALWAYS mention that 1996 & '97, 10 of 29 teams in the league won 52+ games, That's 34.5%, the highest % EVER in league history.

Shit MJ & the bulls beat "7" 60+ win teams in their 6 ring seasons. Shaq & kobe only beat "1" during their title years & Magic's Lakers also only beat "1" 60+ win teams.

When competitive eras are discussed & detractors try to discredit the bulls era, I mention these things & they get REAL quiet LOL!!

You'll often find that those who try to use that weak ass argument, are these ignorant, dumb ass kiddie fan-boys of this era, because they're trying to level the playing field to make for a more "favorable" comparison for today's players/teams.

They do this because the 90s is the decade that their favorite team or player DIDN'T win in.

If they're silly, dumb ass premise is more teams = watered down NBA, then this era must REALLY be watered down because it has 30 teams now LOL!!

Hell when the Bulls won 69 games in '97, Atanta,Detroit & Charlotte all won 50+games, in the same division,that's 4 teams with 50 wins in the same division, i sure don't remember the Lakers or the Celtics having divisons like that, not even close. And when the Bulls won 72 in '96, the Pacers finished second in the division with 52 wins. The Bulls beat 4 60 win teams in the finals, the 80's Celtics and Lakers beat 1 60 win team each, watered down my ass.

I think that there were also a few just terrible teams during that time that lost a lot of games.

They played the pacers 2 years after they bulls beat them in 7 games, the Sixers who actually had a better team during the Jordan years and the nets in their 3 championship. The east was so poor back then that the teams couldn't conjure up a 60 win season. They were all equally as bad as each other. During the 2000s when Shaq and Kobe's era was arguabley the weakest era of the NBA

doug is a good person and a great coach for young teams, but his problem was that he was just way too emotional and intense and after a while it became too much for the young bulls. jordan lost respect for him because he would lose his cool in critical moments, and used to tell the other All-Star players in the late 80's "hey at least your coach doesnt cry!"

he is a very smart coach though and a players coach, just needed to tone it down a notch.
