  • what song is this?

  • what song is this>

  • Why do unaccomplished, underachieving, irresponsible, tax-evading, lazy, stupid brats who can’t provide basic essentials for themselves and live with their moms feel qualified to lecture/chastise professional, successful, industrious, educated, Americans how they should operate? Why do they imagine that they possess the necessary acumen to ‘advise’ anyone on anything? Why should they have any say in anything? They shouldn't even be walking around unsupervised.

FFS, they live with their moms.

  • @octaviustentacles every person who thinks differently than you lives with their moms and should not be allowed any say it what goes on in their lives at all. i agree.

  • God it's nice to see a bunch of people who aren't fearmongering for once.

  • Dam. I've been commenting way too much on this video.

  • This rally looks awesome!

  • There's not a lot of pulchritude at this rally. There is also not a lot of intelligence. There is, however, an abundance of stupid signs.

  • @retownsend Pulchritude? lol. I don't think I've ever heard this word used in criticism of a political rally.

  • It wasn't just the display of Cat Stevens that showed the ignorance of this crowd. They brought out Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the ex-basketball player, as some sort of example of a moderate. What these ignorant yahoos don't know is that Abdul-Jabbar was the financier behind, and paid for the legal defenses of, the Hanafi Muslims who killed two people, and wounded over 3 dozen others in D.C. in 1977.

  • Awwww, did Amewicans for Poverty get made fun of? You poor poor babies, I'm sure you can get one of the politicians you've bought to dry your wittle baby eyes.

  • Jealous much..

  • Don't Be a Douche.

  • Was this for or against the rally? It didn't focus on the nasty parts of the rally, yet it was saying "I'm in love with myself" over and over... I'm so confused!

  • Special Ops:

See Young Republicans for Nixon; October Surprise; Reagan Zombies.

  • You know who is smug? KOCH INDUSTRIES!

    That's who!

The largest privately owned company IS Americans for Prosperity.

Nice try fat cats.... You're going to LOSE Tomorrow!!

  • What else would you expect from a rally hosted by a comedy network the day before Halloween. Good times were had by all.

Try to use the footage to make a serious political point if you want... but you just come off looking the fool. (at least the people in the video have a sense of humor)

  • @filorps Exactly. Sure the people in this video look like they spend too much time at Hot Topic, but, unlike the teabaggers, they at least seem to have a pulse!

  • Can you claim a rally is about sanity if one of its members called for the death of another human being for exercising his freedom of speech? Cat Stevens, a Muslim, called for the death of Salman Rushdie for writing a book critical of Islam. If Jon Steward cared about sanity, Stevens would have never been a part of the rally.

  • Comment removed

  • What's Jon Stewart's stand on Wall Street?

  • Great video of great Rally, great signs, great atmosphere and a celebration of knowledge, reasoning and rationality... something AforP just don't understand!

  • @langsense Knowledge: did you know Cat Stevens called for the death of Salman Rushdie for writing "The Satanic Versese", a book critical of Islam?

Reasoning: Did anyone reason that it was a good ideal to have a man who promotes murder in the name of Islam at a rally?

Rationality: Is Cat Stevens at a rally to restore sanity a sane choice?

Jon Steward's rally fails at all three points. You are delusional.

  • @CrossoverManiac

I of course knew about his greement of the fatwa and so I felt it was wrong for hm to be there.

No I'm not delusional, I just have a different opinion than you... something people like yourself don't feel I have a right to.

  • i love this vid lol, these people at the rally had some of the best signs

  • This video would have been much more effective if the signs weren't actually funny. At least the Reason TV one made me cringe at the silliness of some of those people.

  • Conservatives were most scared by the Dr. Zoidberg costume.

  • @jstohler Best costume I've seen!

  • @redistaor, and this little commie went to the commie love-fest, and this little commie killed small business, and this little commie voted for the banker bailout. You wanna fuck with the the USA by means of Saul Alinsky's social justice and class warfare? You lose. After tomorrow, your kind goes the way of the dinosaur. Progressive Policy FAIL! Now lick your wounds and crawl back in your hole liberal scum!

  • @maximusdecimus888 is exactly the kind of person who needs to attend a Rally to Restore Sanity.

  • @jstohler Cat Stevens, a Muslim, called for the death of Salman Rushdie for writing a book critical of Islam. And yet, he was invited to perform at the Rally to Restore Sanity (are you sure he wasn't at the Rally for Fear). Where's your sanity now?

  • @maximusdecimus888 Just because republicans started the bail out under bush does not make them commies.

  • @maximusdecimus888 Haha. Of course your are a "9/11 was an inside job!" nutcase. Haha. You know what your posts need? More hyperbole.

  • Winston Churchill, when he wasn’t otherwise occupied trying to warn the world about Hitler and Stalin, and doing what he could to defeat both, found the time to declare “For a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle” and “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings, while the inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.”

  • Why Truth is Necessary to have Peace:

There is No Peace without Hope.

There is No Hope without Liberty.

There is No Liberty without Integrity.

There is No Integrity without Virtue.

There is No Virtue without Enlightenment.

There is No Enlightenment without Truth.

  • Self absorbed? I saw mockery and satire but not smuggery. Either you yourself are being satirical or trying to make it seem the way you say due to the song you chose.

  • Haha people getting their news from a comedy show.

  • Wow, liberal intellectual elitists are really in love with themselves these days. Shamesless self adoration in the name of 'social justice' is sooo progressive.

  • @maximusdecimus888 you mad?

  • The real joke is if anyone went to this not knowing it was a big joke

  • Lol, this is hilarious!

  • self absorbed ignorance on parade

  • A great distillation of pathetic American meatheads.

  • The woman with the "I think therefore I'm not Glenn Beck" is another mind-addled elitist.

  • @Meatpieandtatters yeah....cause that was really witty....and beck is really smarts.

  • Fantastic video!

  • The real "smug-a-palooza" is going to be the champagne-and-caviar bender that you plutocrats go on starting Election Night. You're going to be insufferable.

And here's my prediction, mark it well: you will find that it will all turn to dust in your mouths.

  • I see they HIT A NERVE for you, AFP! Hah!

  • They make fun of the tea party but if it wasn't for them Obama would have past other stimulus, spread the wealth, gave amnesty, bail out more banks, and destroy the private sector. I glad to be part of the crazy people.

  • i liked the "I'm with stupid" with an arrow pointing up

  • Was that moot dressed as zoidberg?

  • lol gravity is just a theory, the best sign there

  • @ihmen Actually it is just a theory, much of which was usurped by Einstein's theory of general relativity, which will in turn be usurped by a better theory in the future.

  • Dr. Zoidberg going apeshit at 1:30!

  • LEX LUTHOR FOR PREZ! 2012!! HAhahaha this vid is awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • @3martijns wrong on every single on of those points. Stupid hyperbolic email forward trash.

  • @3martijns Dude you need to take your meds and get an education

  • i like the guy at 0:15 he is so fit and cute! i wanna meet him :))

  • @gleefanatic2010 It's Rick Astley at 0:15

  • @NeccoWecco you insane rickroller! ><

  • Zoidberg ftw

  • Reality has decidedly Liberal Bias..

  • you guys sound extremely butt hurt.

  • my favorite was the I'm with stupid sign pointing to the sky "god" hahaha awesome!

  • The entire thing was set up to boost stewert & colbert ratings as well as to see how many morons would show up. Well, I am sadened to say that the completely clueless did show up and showed the world how retarded and simple they really are. These were the dumbest people I have ever witnessed and unfortunately many of you are exactly like those nut cases. You just don't get it and you never will. How can you be so stupid?

  • arnold rimmer 1:08

  • With Global Governance, All 7 Billion people in the World would have the Same Standard of Living, except for Our Elite Rulers, of course.

So USA living conditions would become Much Much Worse in order to Raise Several Billion out of Dire Poverty.

This Explains obammie's Actions since 01-20-2009 that have made the USA Economy Worse.

He is following Alinsky's 'Rules for Radicals'.

  • Amazing that Anyone thinks Communism is Good!

They Actually Believe the Far Left Radical 'news' (Lies)!

I Deeply Pity their Poor Souls!!

  • Many Kids born After WW2 in USA were Spoiled Rotten by Permissive Parents.

Some grew up to be the Socialists and Communists who are in the obammie administration Now!

Many also had children who think Socialism is Cool, so are spewing Nonsense on YT.

  • Intelligence and reason do NOT equal being smug. If you think it does you're an idiot...but at least you're not smug, right?

Stupidity is not a humble trait. It's simple a trait of the ignorant.

  • Yes clearly racists, unlike the restore honor rally's clear diversity.

  • WOW NOT ONE PERSON OF COLOR ???? can you say racist pricks

  • Honestly I have no idea what this video even means...

All I got out of it was "lol look at the goofy signs and costumes"

  • It doesn't even matter anymore! liberal/conservative! Both sides are corrupt as fuck! All of our leaders are liars and cheats! Support who you want but, the end result is the same... two years from now the country will be equally unhappy with the republican party and vote all those f'ers out of office again! round and round, a stupid fukking blame game that barely ever accomplishes shit!

  • Note to All Libbie Puppet Robots:

Be Sure and Follow All of 'georgie sorries' Directions, so he will keep paying you all that money he got from CAPITALISM.

Ignore Any Truth you may Stumble on.

Morale Relativism is All that Matters.

No Need to have a Conscience.

  • @3martijns Clearly you're advocating a 3rd party, because one who is content with the same failed, corrupt leadership that the GOP is famous for is clearly not an option for any sane human being.

You should say what party you belong to...give them some advertising. (unless you're one of those independent closet Republican types)

  • Sad that the Commies can Brainwash so many people who Simply do Not Know History, because they have been taught Lies all their life.

Beck's Restore Honor Rally = Positive + Truth + Spiritual + Love + No Signs.

    Commie/Socialist Rally = Negative + Lies + Hate + Nasty Signs.

Colbert Rally = Silly, Immature, Ridiculous.

  • @3martijns i'm sorry sir but what exactly were these negative, nasty, false, and hateful signs? all i saw was light humor directed not at conservatives but at ignorant people ok one sign attacked the teaparty but, lets face it, the teaparty is based, in large part, on false assumptions about the liberal agenda. and lastly your use of the word "commie" makes socialism sound like a bad thing. socialism is a fantastic system that works very well when properly regulated. need an example? Sweden.

  • @3martijns Lol. Sorry. But the way you capitalized the vast majority of words in that sentence reminds me of dr. bronner. Ever heard of him? X)

  • Liberal sour grapes. Nothing else. Move on, nothing to see here.

  • American Conservative Values:

God, Family, Honor - Truth, Limited Government, Responsibility, Free Markets, Common Sense.

    Libbie 'progressive' values:

Atheism, Abortion, Hate - Lies, BIG Government, Nanny State, Socialism/Communism, "Whatever".

  • @3martijns Why are you calling us libbies? I know "democrats" is a big word, but I'm sure you can use spell check.

And yes, democrats are the ones that hate so much. That's why *we* are the ones who deny the right to marry to people...

  • let's all be nice. i think the satire in smug a palooza is pretty obvious. it was such a cool and diverse crowd; i saw so many signs with gags about "but it's kind of complicated and i could change my mind if presented with new evidence"

such a wonderfully positive day for the country- so many people who actually ARE open to compromise and moving forward.

  • I had a smile during the course of this entire video. The Zoidberg part was especially good.

  • @lkmrn325: Once is a typo, twice is a bad education. And stick to one language at a time. There are lots of "va te faire ...." constructions that could be used.

  • @vlcole11 You have now entered the realm of the common "troll" in my book. Anything you say to me now will not be taken seriously as you have pushed me one teensy step closer to giving up on humanity entirely. Congratulations. Your goal has been accomplished. You may receive your ribbon and a congratulatory f***-***k at the door.

(Va te faire couper... les cheveux. Et apres, je veux que tu ailles te faire foutre. C'est plus clair?)

  • Americans for prosperity is a fucking joke.

  • 0:45 Are you hearing crazy voices? Turn Off Fox News! lol I like that one.

  • @lkmrn325: at least twice today you've used the contraction "you're" instead of the correct possessive "your". You're a good example of the uneducated people who've come out of the bottom-of-the-barrel American school system the last couple of decades.

  • @vlcole11

    Sigh.

I'm sorry I offended you mr. grammar elitist. How could I forget the most basic of all rules of internet debate? Which is, of course, to never make a goddam typo.

    (Va te faire couper.)

  • @vlcole11 Btw, you forgot to capitalize the "a" in "at".

    ;D

Oh, and in fact I went to an excellent public school growing up in an excellent school district which has since gone way downhill due to massive education cuts. Happy Halloween.

  • So many hipsters in one area

  • I LOOOOOOVED THIS RALLY!!! I'M SOOOOOOO GLAD I WENT! I'LL TELL MY KIDS ABOUT IT!

  • Dr. Zoidberg showed up lmao <3

  • lol @ all the ridiculous name calling and mindless arguing in the comments on this video. you all represent the exact thing this rally was rallying against, but then again that's something you're likely proud of. think about what you're arguing against here...a rally for sanity and reasonableness. doesn't matter what end of the political spectrum you're on, the message is the same: calm the fuck down. therefore the typical loud, ill-informed overreacted backlash against this is quite ironic.

  • I don't know whether I should laugh or cry.

  • I just don't think I could ever understand how a democrat idiot thinks. Would somebody please explane to me how people can think so backwards? No wonder they are screwing up the country. That's ok because November 2nd is here and your time is coming to an end. Na na na na, na na na na Heyyyyy Good Bye!!!!!!

  • Idiots!

  • People wearing costumes on Halloween? THIS WILL NOT STAND

  • hahahah - jealous teabaggers!

  • Stephen Colbert is America!

  • This video is a failure. It tries to poke fun at the smug people who attended the rallies but really shows how sane and funny most of the signs were.

  • @Liface agreed, this is exactly what I was about to say :)

  • ... how exactly are these people smug? I don't get this video.

  • I love how the Tea Party says it stands for limited government, but still support anti-gay rights, anti-pro-choice, and wasting taxpayer money fighting drug wars

  • @genzhivago Hey D-bag. "Anti-pro-choice" is called PRO-LIFE.

And if you want to get real technical pro-choice is actually pro-death.

And the drug war is enforced by democrats. At least the Tea party isnt dumb enough to believe lies the government tells you like global warming. We are wasting taxpayer money fighting plant air, you fool. Ahahah... we pay billions of dollars fighting an element neccessary to all life on earth. And I guarantee your smug ass doesnt know anything about it.

  • @KingDingaLing090 you aaaaa wetaded

  • @genzhivago how do u know this have you been to one? if you havent seen there were many polls that show fidcal issues out number social issues in the tea party by alot

  • I love how the Tea Party says it stands for limited government, but still support anti-gay rights, anti-pro-choice, and wasting taxpayer money fighting drug wars.

  • Yeah, go corporate America! Fuck the people!

  • @Attitude88North

Ok let me go thru this one by one..

    1) Sometimes when people go too far up their own ass humour is the best way of reminding them this. It doesn't have to be personal.

    2) What America has going for it is the fact that you have a wide mix of different viewpoints, if everyone thought the same chances are the country would destroy itself pretty quickly

    3) I'm not American, I'm English

    4) I'm not Liberal, I voted Conservative in our last election

  • 0:33, does that guy actually understand Euler's identity or the Hamiltonian quaternions?

  • You just showed me a video of people holding funny signs and wearing costumes. Am I supposed to hate them for that?

  • Hey Americans for Prosperity. I came onto your channel looking for some videos that might educate me on economic policy and the principles of entrepreneurship. But instead I got this video that refers to a bunch of people in Halloween costumes at a comedy central rally as "smug". Maybe there was an underlying message about limited government and fiscal restraint here that I missed. But how does this video follow your mission statement?

  • Aww, are some people hurt they weren't invited? I'm sure Jon sent you an invitation, it must have been lost in the mail or something...

  • The "Stuff White People Like" (SWPL's) and "Hipster Doofus" types at this rally are smug smarmy left-wing assholes totally in love with themselves. Oh goody, you can repeat back talking points of you PC leftist college professors, so that makes you smart. They are unpatriotic pricks who tear down what our ancestors died to build, just for fun. And hey Jon Stewart! You are getting too old and grey to pretend to young and hip!

  • @djflargo You masturbate thinking about Jon Stewart, don't you?

  • There will always be smug self-righteous people at any sort of rally and they obviously missed the point, but the rally was about how people on both sides are going to extremes and preventing us from being able to deal with issues. Some people did attack Fox News and other Republicans but there were a great many people who were conservative and were there as well. This wasn't a gathering of left versus right.

  • @dharmabum1102 Thank you for adding a bit of sanity to this here comment thread. You're small contribution is sure to go far.

  • @lkmrn325: In your zeal to claim a huge crowd size, you make so many factual errors it's plain your brain isn't working. I've lived in D.C. for 20 years. The crowd yesterday came nowhere near the Capitol on one side and nowhere near the castle on the other. Stop making stuff up.

  • @vlcole11 Alright, perhaps you're right. You were actually there. You actually saw the crowd. (Note: this is not sarcasm) Me, I was simply judging from a sort conglomeration of various images I gathered from online and from some friends on facebook that portrayed a crowd which stretched at least halfway across the mall, as well as some estimates from crowd-counting specialists. I hope you understand. Clearly I have no capacity for rational thought, eh? (Ok, that bit was)

  • @vlcole11 At this point, I just really wish this would stop being an issue. They were both big crowds, ok? Maybe they were about the same size. Me, being a rational, reasonably informed individual, have come to the conclusion that Stewart's was larger. However, there is no way I can be absolutely sure. What's most important is the ideology behind the respective rallies. Now let's both go do something productive.

  • "URRR thar were only twenny peepulz, not like mirtur Bek, who had close to a miilon peepul, an they calt sars pailun a natsi, becuss they HATE AMERICA!YAAAAAAAAARRRRRGLLL! ALL CAPS MAKES ME SMARTER! GOD BLESS THE TEEPARTY! GOD DAMM OWEBAMMACRATS ALL TO H*LL, THE FUCKERS!

This is what you all sound like.

Question: Did the majority of posters here get a suspiciously convenient email telling them to come here?

  • This video summed up nicely what I thought of yesterday's smugfest.

  • If you look at the crowd shots (and at crowd shots at Huffington and other sites), there were more blacks up on the stage as backing musicians THAN IN THE ENTIRE CROWD.

THEREFORE, ACCORDING TO LIBERALS, THIS WAS THIS ACTUALLY A TEA PARTY RALLY!? RIGHT!? :^)

  • What Nagee is saying is pretty offensive to liberals and is exactly what puts our country (with such great potential) into a political stalemate. You oversimplify others ideas and assume that anyone who differs from you couldn't possible know what they're doing.

Change comes over time, especially in democracy. We really can't afford congress crippled because of political differences between it and the president. As long as compromise and progress happens between parties, I would have no issues.

  • @shootpeas A political stalemate would be great; the best thing the federal government could do would be nothing. I actually hope Republicans take the House and Democrats hold the Senate, so they just fight and cancel each other out (except for the War of Terror, they'll surely agree on killing brown people).

    Vote Stalemate for Congress 2010!

Your "progress" is a progression towards feudalism.

  • Really? They hold a rally to promote reasonable discourse and condemn extremists on any side while reminding people not to take themselves so seriously and they're being smug?

This wasn't a solely Liberal event, and no one was promoting hatred, facism, socialism or any kind of extremism, nor was it a rally to drum up votes for either political party. Just because you disagree with some of it doesn't mean you should dismiss it offhand. There was a good message there that everyone can learn from.

  • @AimeeExorcist

Really? So the signs portraying numerous Republicans with Hitleresque mustaches wasn't hateful in nature or had a political slant? Of course, all the "Tea Bagger" references are just friendly jokes according to you, right?

  • @pauly1620 If that's true, then there's a few bad apples in every bunch. That doesn't ruin the spirit or message of the event.

By the way, reports are the crowd left the Mall as clean as they found it.

  • @pauly1620

Uhm.. well, YES actually. I have no idea if there were some elements there with an overt political motive but most of the Hitler signs I saw were merely parodying signs held by protesters at Tea Party rallies and the like rather than actually accusing people of being facsist dictators.

  • Comment removed

  • As statists I know what they're against. However, none of the signs told me what they were FOR. Worship for the State I guess. So in that sense the rally was double-plus-good.

  • This vid makes these people actually seem quite sane compared to the tea party rally I was at.

  • @bullfinchman because you agree with those people

  • A call for reason and decency gets these kinds of comments: 'rats,' 'libtards,' 'nazi socialist marxist terrorist-sympathizing egotistical satanists,' 'INsane democrats,' 'Smug douchebags,' 'crazy ass lunatics,' 'average liberal retards,' 'narcissist left' with 'ego-masturbation.' I came to RedState to see what the response was, to see if the call for decency was heard... And this is what was there: "[These] twerps hate you, and want you to die in a fire." *sigh*

  • @wynnj26 Yeah, well think about all the name-calling that has been directed towards people wanting the federal government to work within the confines of the Constitution.

  • I cannot wait for the RATS to get clobbered on Tuesday....useless idiots like Jon Stewart/Clobert will go into a depression as soon as they hear that their dear party of D'ohbama/Nanzi Pelosi/DingyReid has lost miserably.

Most of these libtards are simply going to vote "Democrat" without even knowing who the candidate is !! Ladies and Gentlemen your average liberal retards !

  • Oprah and arianna had to pay to bus them to dc. I doubt they'll be laughing Nov 3.

  • @lkmrn325: I see your problem. You thought the smugapalooza crowd covered the entire mall! No, it was just on a few blocks on the eastern end of the mall, far smaller than the Beck crowd's area that was on the western end of the mall. You should educate yourself on these things before you comment.

  • @vlcole11 Sigh. :(

See, this is why I don't even feel it's worth arguing with you people sometimes. No matter what I say you'll still find some way to convince yourself that I'm wrong. Maybe I am, alright? But tbh I have seen many MANY images from both events, much more than I imagine any reasonable person would, and the crowd density simply ISN'T THERE for Beck's. I've seen crowds of 100,000. I go to DC almost every year. And when I see a crowd that stretches from ye olde smith. institution

  • @vlcole11 all the way to the capitol I know that that that's a huge enough area for such a crowd. Hey, there were "people under the trees" even for this event. Just think: imagine the density of people packed into the banks of the reflecting pool. Now imagine that density but spanning a third of the mall. (Jeez. This shouldn't even be an issue I swear... ><)

  • People who have to tell you that they're smart seldom are. The truly intelligent don't have to say a word since their actions speak for them. Maybe I should make a sign that says "I have an IQ of 200 because this sign says I have an IQ of 200" or "I'm smarter than you because my sign told me so". Hey, if making a sign makes you smart then why shouldn't I go for it :P ;)

  • @lkmrn325 Watch Pajamas Media for a crowd estimate piece. Whatever the crowd size was, Stewart/Colbert had roughly six tenths as much space, and a pretty similarly packed crowd. From previous estimates, 215,000 seems a bit high -- but that was a conservative estimate for Beck. There is no physical way Stewart/.Colbert could have packed 3 times as many people into sixty percent as much space.

  • @ChasRMartin So I shouldn't trust cbs news and the very company that photographed the events, instead I should trust a mostly conservative-run blog site?

    ...

  • @lkmrn325 No, you should trust your own rational faculties and check my figures, vs previous estimates and methodology. My new piece is up; as I say, using CBS's numbers, the crowd density would have to be nearly four times what Beck had, and APL's photos don't support that.

Which would mean EVERY SQUARE FOOT of the available area was packed like a mosh pit.

  • @ChasRMartin "Glenn Beck "Restoring Honor" Rally Crowd Estimate Explained"

That article speaks for itself. This guy from pajamas media applied the same methods, yes, but on what images? Ones with poor quality and a relatively sharp angle.

Btw, the dude who did these numbers for cbs was the same dude who put the obama inauguration at 800,000 while everyone else was claiming upwards of 1,000,000. Just so you know.

  • @lkmrn325 well, he really mis-states my method in significant ways. Most important is the notion that I estimated crowd density from the oblique photos; instead, I use the oblique photos to identify a polygon using landmarks, compute the area, and apply the Park Service's crowd density estimates with a range of different assumptions.

The thing about the APL estimates is that the last two have *both* been outliers to all the other estimates. That makes them questionable.

  • @ChasRMartin Makes sense, for the most part. Mkay, now I'm curious. A range of assumptions? What exactly do you mean by that? As in a range of possible densities for an area? And have you tried this method with APL's photos?

  • @lkmrn325 Yes, exactly. Park Service makes a "dense" crowd 5 ft^2/person, so I use 10ft^2, 5ft^2 and 2.5ft^2. (I'll note that 2.t ft^2 is significantly smaller than a hand towel.) I go into it in detail in these articles, google "Charlie Martin Pajamas Media Crowd Estimates" and it'll take you right there. Haven't tried it with APL's pix, but APL's method differs wildly from all other estimates, and not systematically. Don't know why.

  • @ChasRMartin Mkay. But 10 ft^2 per person? That sure seems like a helluva lotta space for a "dense crowd". I mean, if everyone was sitting on blankets lawn chairs I could see it but I highly doubt that people would at an event like this. I'm picturing sardines, here.

  • @lkmrn325 what's the square root of 10? That's on average a square 37 inches on a side. But the Park Service dense crowd is half that, 5 ft^2 a person; I'm bracketing it.
