Its either i havn't been paying to much attention but when he killed the hydra the game and Harle referred to him as Serge not Lynx has it been doing that the entire time or did the game typo
The stange effect to capture the summon is exactly like the Mufaba of the DragonBall Manga. In there they trap this demon-guy into a a small 'Pressure Cooker' even if the guy is 6 feet tall. So it must be an omage to that. Especially since Chrono Trigger had lots of DragonBall inspiration.
In ff12 there is an undead boss, however you can't one shot him with phoenix downs or with the revive magic, not that you need it considering how ridiculously easy it is.
@invincibleseth Yeah, I just ran into one the other day. In fact, I was fighting an esper boss who spawned a bunch of zombies, so I figured I'd set my gambits to throw phoenix downs on them. It doesn't even work on the lackies. Good job Square, after 20 years, you figured out you weren't fooling anyone.
I love how in the pit where you fight the De-hydrate, it's says that "Serge" received the HydraShadow despite the fact that all the other treasures and items have been labeled as "Lynx got _____." You'd think they'd check for that.
Also, yes "Tingle" was the name of the guy in Majora's Mask. I hate Tingle. Actually, didn't like MM all that much, and I categorize it in my "Triple Triad of Disappointing Sequels," along with Final Fantasy VIII and Chrono Cross. None of them are really all that bad, but it was a weird year for video game sequels.
Now that you mention it, I don't think there are any undead bosses in XII. I think Square finally figured out that EVERYONE knows that trick. Even, X, which only has one undead boss has figured out a way around it. That boss is immune to um, "life," so Phoenix Downs take away 2000 hp, but do not kill him.
Yunalesca is a GIRL. But yeah, even with holy water and phoenix downs, she was so hard to beat. I don't even Yuna's summons helped that much. Or none that I had.
Oh, I forgot about her. I was thinking of that undead dragon you fight in the water. So there are two undead bosses in that. Yeah, she was hard. That game's not known for being too challenging, Yunalesca, Seymour (or as like to call him, "Numbnuts") and Jecht were all pretty tough.
Ha, Seymour is a terrible villain. He's like Kuja, but without any of the campy charisma (Kuja is one my favorites). I'm glad XII finally broke the trend of villains trying to destroy the world, even if it was on a whim at the last minute like with Kefka and Kuja. That's been going on since III and it was really getting old.
Where did that come from in my subconscious? I must have heard that during a commercial or something. Yeah, that's it. It's not like I... own any of... her CDs... (trails off...)
Come to think of it, I don't think I own any CDs, aside from my PlayStation games and the classical music collection from my dad.
There is still one thing im confused about, does harle know he is serge, because she still seems to have feelings for the normal lynx in the alternate endings?
Your right on tingle and in FFX theres a few bosses that can be put down with just like useing 2 phoenix downs on them ... just like the undead evrray at the end of the viva purifico
I think they kinda caught on with the undead bosses, actually. There are more then one undead boss in games like, say, FFX--but they either can't be instant-killed by spells like Life or Holy or they have a very VERY low percentage of working at all. :P
Everyone kept referring to Lynx as Serge again...I mean, I prefer to call him Serge even in Lynx form, but did you rename him, or was it like this the whole time? (I thought Harle made a point of only calling him Lynx.) Or maybe it was a typo....or maybe they call him Serge in Another World, but call him Lynx in Home World..? Ah well.
yes, there STILL are undead bosses in FFXII, only one though, who can´t be killed by any way of reviving or instant killing. But he can be spammed with healing :)
in FF12, if bosses are undead, they are insusceptible to Life spells, but they are susceptible to renew which will bring them down to 1 HP but you don't get that until very late in the game. Regualar/Rare mobs are, however, are weak to Life/Phoenix Downs
UStream is a site that allows you to stream video directly from your desktop in real time, essentially allowing you to LP live. There's also a chat window for viewers to use while they watch. Some LPers such as UltraJMan have been doing that versus posting regular episodes to YouTube.
@TheSpielmeister Is this better or worse than livestream in your opinion? I've been doing some civ IV stuff on livestream experimentally, but the viewing audience is nothing like youtube. Also, it's a bit rough in terms of requirements on my connection ---> I can stream but dont' seem to retain video that way.
I'd say it's not worth it personally. HC Bailly has a unique style, he cuts out a lot of the fluff that comes with live RPG's (battle after battle, endless backtracking, etc) his talent as an editor wouldn't be able to be put to much use on Ustream, as well he makes videos also to be as informative as possible, an interactive strategy guide, if you will. It wouldn't fit over to a Live Stream I don't think at all.
Some people get their kicks by trying to make other people feel bad. Fortunately, having been exposed to it for so long has made me nearly immune to it.
Really? It's been far too long since I've played those two games. There's probably a whole bunch of OOT and MM references in them that I didn't get when I last played them. I suppose it will make the Oracle games all the more enjoyable when I LP them someday.
Yeah, they are fantastic. There's nothing bad about those two games. I just finished Oracle of Seasons yesterday, and I'm going to replay Oracle of Ages soon.
The cool thing about them is how you can "connect" the games. Really adds replay value.
While they did a good job about Phoenix Down Instent-Death, a rare enemy known as "Dustia" is still vulnerable to it, and can be used to grind to about level 30 in the first part of the game (before you even get any party members) fairly easily.
Well, they did mess up in FFX with the Evrae Atlanta. I suppose it kinda had to be undead since it was well... Slaughtered, but they made it killable in 1 hit with a Phoenix down.
@thegamingdude01 Gotta remember though, in FFX, there was the added challenge of an NSG game which would make that battle a bit too easy if you ask me.
In Final fantasy 12, you can't kill Undead bosses with Phoenix downs or something like that. Later in the game, normal enemys are immune against that, too. So yeah, thy FINALLY made undead enemys immune to Instant Death through reviving.
That's not true at all. The fact that you can inflict status effects on so many bosses added a lot of fun to the game. 122333 was the most fun I've ever had in any game and it's all thanks to the nihopalaoa.
I've always wondered about that in RPG's: there's a huge catastophie on its way, and yet the party always finds time to procrastinate and wander round doing minigames/side-quests.
Oh well, RPG's would be rather boring without a lot of faffing around too :3
