U KEEP A COUNTRY OF OVER 150MILLION AS ONE, A COUNTRY WITH OVER 150 ETHNIC GROUPS. IF U DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY U BETTER GO AND SLEEP. SEE S/KOREA, MONTINOGROW, ETC MANY ARE THEY IN NUMBER.
Today, Nigeria is a young democracy with a myriad of problems. But the answers have to come from the people. We are the ones we have been waiting for.
gowon was a mass murderer. I totally agree with Oagbo so after his so called conquest of the Biafran rebels and keeping Nigeria geographically together what has been the end result? A big joke and African tragedy called Nigeria for which he slaughtered millions. The country is so corrupt, backward and lawless such that at the mere mention of Nigeria abroad, people scurry to hold on to their hand bags lest it disappears because a country without foundation is no country indeed.
Vision is relative. Murtala wanted a corrupt free Nigeria. He replaced most of, if not all, the military governors under Gowon. Ogbemudia in Bendel was replaced. Today we need a leader with a grand vision, a vision greater than ethnic loyalties, greater than North-South divide, greather than South-South rubbish. A vision we can believe in.
You're right, Murtala had a vision, but we will never know how good he could have been. He was killed too soo. He was naive, driving around Lagos without proper protection. That is why he was an easy target for Dimka. We need visionaries. We need eloquent, persuasive, and determined leaders.
Gowon was honest but he was very very naive, but if he could used Biafran scientists to work in Nigeria and develop Manufacturing and so on. l think Murtala Mohammed was the greatest visionary we had but he was cut down to short, he wanted to remove corruption period.
and since, gowan saved nigeria from breaking apart, what has been the end result. nothing- corruption, violence, lack of security and no vision from those that has ruled nigeria
forget all your Gowon manufactured quality, the fact remains that save the Murtala mohammed coup, Gowon sought to perpetrate his stay in Dodan Barracks. The lust after power was deinitely there
What are you trying to say. Make it plain.

The essence of leadership is vision. Yakubu Gowon had it.

It is time to give credit to those who have led Nigeria effectively in some way.
