The fact that he is a Scientologist has absolutely no effect on his acting ability. It's time the world stopped judging him. Yes, he's made mistakes. But his personal life is no one's business. Just because the media exposes it doesn't make it ours to judge. We have the choice to not get involved. If you don't like him as an actor, that's fine, but don't say you hate him just because he's a Scientologist; you all know that's a terrible reason. If you don't like him, then don't watch his movies.

matt damon in good will hunting also plays an ISTJ (myers briggs).all they want is to be accepted n be a part of something.loyalty. but if the childhood is all hate,never accepted=they become self destructive.

Because in the scene with him prior to this, during the seminar break, he got totally owned by an interviewer that saw right through his bullshit. Awesome movie! Tom Cruise should have won an Oscar for this!!

the scene continues with him remembering that what he was telling the seminar to read wasn't on page 18. But the reason he's upset is that the journalist -- in a scene just before this one -- forced him to confront his past.

Probably one of the most complex and well-played characters I've ever watched in a movie. Excellent performance from an exceptional actor. I really love this movie and this character in particular is one of my favorites of all time.

Might be my favorite scene in that movie. Watching him battle between his two personalities. How he didn't win for best supporting actor is beyond me!
