  • thank god in these pc days, a man not afraid to slap his bitch about when she steps out of line

  • Macy gray does a great verison of this, well worth checking out.

    Zappa is best!

  • Good music.

  • @fadethetrade Thanks again - will def check Ruth. The h.gen bit I knew. Ensemble Ambrosius (Finnish, baroque) have recorded astonishing version of The IBS on The Zappa Album - do hear if you haven't. IBS is FZ's Eleanor Rigby, I think - melody unforgettable, and matched perfectly with exceptional lyrics.

The snark-stuff is deft, but the evocation of anomie is superbly inventive and vivid. I hope IBS finds its place alongside the work of (frinstance) Weill, Berio, Britten in C20 song recitals.

  • I apologize that the rest of the album is missing. I'm gonna fix that, and if I can't, I'll make it up to you.

  • @MusicThatDoesNotSuck Long nick, dude. I like it :) .... and thank you!

  • @fadethetrade... sincere thanks. For a bonus point, could you name some other tracks where he does the same thing?

Now I need to ambush a piano-owning friend...

  • @notreallydavid The idiot bastard son song has alot of seconds in there, Frank liked to be aberrated from the mainstream. He exposed his dislike for the period of the 60's and 70's in our society. One of his last quotes before he died was that the universe is filled with more stupidy then hydrogen!!

  • @notreallydavid Look up Ruth Underwood on youtube and choose the on the page called ZAPPA: st alphonsos pancake breackfast (rollo interior) She demonstrates the seconds on the marimba, very informative.

  • I'm 45. When I'm big, I'm going to learn music theory so I can understand why I like those weird intervals so much.

Oooh, it's those unsingable backing vocals again...

  • @notreallydavid One of his intervals,on the triad ,the 1 - 3- 5 of the chord like a C-E-G. Frank takes out the third and puts in a second ,C-D-G. the classic zappa sound.
