I'm glad for rods like this one. I'm going to pick up the one I've been looking at Dicks tomorrow. If this rod were around in 1965, it would have been considered so high tech for that time, it would have easily been over $50, even back then! Incidentally, I have the same grip with many sports. Why can't we just fish, play tennis, or bike ride, or golf to say, 1972 standards? The world of sporting goods has gotten too too high tech and expensive!
@davisracquet That's a really good point. Catching the big one was the goal back then. Now, its great to catch a big one, but the gear is so central in all things now.
It reminds me of Nike shoes. "Run Faster, Jump Higher".
@hoshnasi I bought the 5/6 and it felt stiff. I even used 6 wt. line on it and it still felt a bit stiff. Maybe im not used to casting a fiber glass rod or even a cheap rod for that matter. I've never bought any rods other than winston or sage, but I've casted other rods. This rod is a great value and the yellow makes it look like my sage bass rod. It's perfect for small local ponds where I do alot of bass and pan fishing. This reveiw actually convinced me to buy this. So thanks alot-tight lines
@hoshnasi ..your interest in "things" is refreshing ... then i see metal detectors ! just funny.. similar interests.. here.....seems like so many kinda dont ...have interests! I just started doing the "fly thing" also
bottomless stuff... whew ... i've fished for years...never once caught a thing on a flyrod.... just beginning... interesting world...
I just get me a new 8'6" 5 wt 2pc Eagle Claw fly rod called a Black Eagle. I need a backup rod and i found this rod in WalMart for 20$. It look's like a 100 dollar rod. Works great with a 4wt and 5wt fly line also comes with a 1 year warranty.
This dude looks like Alex smith
