  • fantastic voice, really liked your rendition!

  • THIS IS TO THE SINGER ,,,YOUR VOICE IS SO COOL....AND YOUR VIDEO TOO...I ,, JUST LOVE YOUR VOICE..YOU DO THIS SONG MUCH JUSTICE....GOD BLESS YOU GIRL..

  • Townes Van Zandt wrote such a gem here. Emmylou Harris was the first to record a cover of this song in 1977 (Luxury Liner). I never thought I'd hear a more moving version but your's came mighty close. So beautiful...

  • I would love to know all the chords. I am a beginner on the guitar. I was able to learn to learn Tecumseh Valley by watching your video. It's so nice to have someone on you tube that loves the same music as I do. I would have never got it down otherwise.

  • Such a beautiful rendition, your voice is so....pure.

  • nice voice

  • Hermosa cancion y una dulce voz como la de Joan Baez -- Un grandioso cover

  • Una hermosa cancion y una voz dulce como la de Joan Baez Muy buen cover

  • You have a beautiful voice and are a very talented musician. Thank you for sharing your voice and music with us.

  • What a beautiful voice you have been blessed with! This version of Pancho and Lefty is quite different from the one I know (and perform myself) but I love it. I could listen to you for hours and hours.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • beautiful

  • Really nice version!!!

  • nicely done. very beautiful voice!

  • Oh! You wonderful girl! Beyond beautiful. Thank you

  • Hi Folksongwriter--

This is a beautiful cover. My grandfather used to play this song for me when I was young, he passed away today & I want to learn it in his memory. I was wondering if you could tell me the chords and where you have the capo. It would mean a lot to me. Thank you so much,

    -Lauren

  • @laurentussey So sorry to hear of your loss. I'll send you a message with the chords in it. My capo is on the 5th fret.

  • My god your voice is so etherally beautiful. It makes me sad and gives me joy.

  • My god your voice is so etherally beautiful. It makes me sad and gives me joy.

  • your voice is beautiful.

  • Holly - so sweet, what phrasing! I've heard dozens of P&L covers, maybe all of 'em. Yours is unique, pure as a youthful Emmylou.

Kate Rusby did a nice version (with harp!) try to find it. Ever since Emmy & Rodney in '77, then Willie & Merle in '83, it has most often been sung as a duet, e.g. Willie & Lyle on Letterman - anyone have that video (10/05)? Lately Emmy has sung with long-time friend John Starling on harmony.

Too bad Townes did not live to hear you sing, but that's the way it goes.

  • Love the sound of your voice.. thank you for sharing :o)

  • wonderfull again

    have a good time

    Michael

  • One of my favorite songs. You have pretty voice, but more than that I think you really have captured the magic that is in this song. Wonderful interpretation.

  • Very nice song, very nice voice! Greatings from Germany.

  • Thanks for listening everyone. I really love this song. Townes filled his songs with such rich characters.

    great voice like Emmylou.

  • amazing voice

  • Awesome singing and playing. You have a beautiful voice. Nadine

  • So lovely, the way you tell that tale

  • Your voice has an ethereal quality. Absolutely haunting. It reminds me of Emmylou when she was just starting out, except your voice is so much more transparent and sweet. Really exceptional work, Holly.

  • nice twist....thx

  • wow.. thats a really great cover!

  • WOW! I'm italian and I love Townes so much! You are great my dear!!! Besti wishes from Rome!. Claudio.

  • Wow!!! I just fell in love with your voice. Don't change your style.

  • Fantastic... 5 stars and an entry onto my play list.

  • The tragic story of Pancho and Lefty told by an angel. Wonderful.

  • Wow...just wow.

  • Awsome!! :)

  • I like this, you have a very good voice..

  • You look like Sissy Spacek

  • incredible voice, why haven't you been snatched up by a record label yet?

  • do you know any robert earl keen or jerry jeff walker or any good ol texas country like that?

  • No, I don't. But, I'm going to look them up. Got any suggestions for your favorite songs by them?

  • @folksongwriter how about jerry jeff's the heart of saturday night.. tom waits covered it but don't be intimidated. by the way your video here is exquisite and easily the purest version of the classic i've ever heard. judging by your influences you couldn't have chosen a more appropriate tune, and far more than doing it justice you clearly demonstrated why it's a masterpiece.. but next time i wanna see you let your hair down and rock!.. or should i say let your hair 'up'.. lol

  • Are you married? : )

  • oh, WOW. Listening to your voice gives me the same chills that Joni Mitchell, Emmylou and Willie nelson give me. You are destined for greatness. Your gift is amazing. Blessings to you.

  • wow. you have a very beautiful voice. haunting. nice work.

  • Excellent. This is a tough song to sing and easy to play. Brilliant job. You are heading for fame.

  • Brilliant! This is the best version I've heard. Thanks - I've just added it to my favourites.

  • I just LOVE this version. Your voice is straight out sweet....lovely. One of the nicer versions I have heard, and I have heard a few......

    God bless ya dear.

  • Really good. I enjoyed that very much. The tone of the song changes when you play it in "G" but it sounds awesome. Your voice reminds me alot of Joni Mitchell. (compliment) PS thanks for the comments on my covers as well
