The e46 GTR M3 had a V8, but was cancelled. The engine in this E46 is a Chevy engine, although it doesn't have BMW "heritage" you can't deny thats a beastly car, the engine isn't that heavy either.

BMW ///M3 didnt have V8 engine in them until 2008 with the e92 chassis coming out... Whatever it is its NOT a BMW motor in there bc it sounds nothing like one... I personal think the BMW motor sounds alot nicer

yes they did in BMW M3 (e46) GTR street legal version it has about 385hp, a 4 liter V8, and this engine is original BMW

I actually found out what it was from some people on streetfire who were informed by the BMW community. It is a 330ci with a chevy 350 V8 bored out to a 410 and supercharged. This thing is a monster. I don't even know how that engine would fit, but they made it work. I guess there's some more vids of it on this site somewhere. Just type 350 v8 3 series or something like that.

Made by BMW. An E46 M3 GTR street version with a 4000 cc V8 engine was made in order for BMW to qualify its race version GTR in the American Le Mans in 2001. A very limited number was produced and sold for about $250,000.
