I've been doing this for years. FYI instead of putting the glass container in boiling water, I have found that putting it in the freezer for an hour works well also. The wax pops out easy.
Whittney, you've gone from hair guru to just....amazing. And thanks to you, my TWA has been growing healthy and I've even been trying to eat more healthy. (i saw your love sick video and your SOOOO skinny! love it!). But thanks for everything girl!!!:)
That is SUCH a good idea..coffee, tea, and sugar etc..reusable containers..I never felt right about throwing them away...just didn't know what to do with them! Thanks for the ideas! Merry Christmas!
And to think, I stopped purchasing candles because I'd felt it was such a waste, the jars I mean..I didn't know what/how to reuse them...hmmm, I think someone will be going candle shopping real soon....Thx for the tip/vid and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
due to back problems I keep reuseable candle jars on my kitchen window sill... I store my brillow pads in one and auto dish tablets in another; the color of the items add color to my kitchen AND NO BENDING TO GET ITEMS FROM UNDER THE SINK
Good tips Nap.ive always tried to resuse the candle containers. I also reuse most of my hair product containers once Ive completed the product ..at least the larger rounded ones. Many labels are removeable and i can use them for hair pins, ouchless bands, cotton balls, q tips..whatever will fit ..the lids are secure when placed back on the containers and if youre reallly creative //add a little fringe for a truly girly look.
I am SO annoyed with myself. You make things seem so simple and make me feel so "DUH".LOL. Being a Bath and Body Works candle addict, I have thrown away HUNDREDS of perfectly good glass containers! Thanks for saving me from all my waste. I love your handy tips.
Great idea! I have some around the house that I just didn't want to throw out. now I know what to do with them. thanks for sharing as always. Just genius. Pretty smile at the end too. Happy Holidays!
I'm so glad that I am not the only person who saved Glass jars. I've saved most of my jars to use as storages for my food, I cooked a lot and I have a lot of dry food so glass containers help me organized them without the clutter. Kudos.
I've always wanted to reuse my candle jar but could never find a way to remove the wax without it getting messy until now. Thank you! Now to figure out what to put in it...
Hmmm never thought to do this with them. I am still working on using up a few candles. Now I know what to do with them when all the was is gone lol. Nice!
What a fantastic idea! I'm staring at a candle jar right this second. This would make a cute jar for storing my homemade fudge for a friend's gift. Thanks, Naptural85! Merry Christmas!
Well coincidentally I was cleaning my old glass jars out today ....;0)))))) I was going to make floral arrangements to put in some of them and some to put my make-up brushes in....;0)))))
funny I was just thinking about throwing away one of our glass candle holders yesterday, but remembered watching a show on recycling old things - so this is great now I know how to do it =)
Great idea :-) I get the wax out by putting the jar in the freezer for a few hours and popping the frozen wax out with an old knife. I use this technique for candles in jars, tealights, etc. The freezer method works if candle wax spills on fabric too (like a tablecloth). P.S. folks: don't burn candles near anything flammable flowers, paper, photos, etc. (@Naptural85 - I figured you had them there just to make them look pretty in the video.)
Another tip if the residue does not come completely off from the label is to use cotton ball and alcohol to wipe it away for a cleaner finish. It is quick and easy. Some use fingernail polish remover, not sure if it leaves a cloudy mist. Just an FYI.
I also use mine as a makeup brush holder, pen/pencil holder and rooting a small plant to name a few things. I decorate the outside with ribbons and beads and no one knows anything.
Great tip. Just wondering if you only like the Yankee candles or do you ever use the bath and body works candles? I love those. I burn one everyday because I love when my house smells great.
I've been doing this for years. FYI instead of putting the glass container in boiling water, I have found that putting it in the freezer for an hour works well also. The wax pops out easy.
