My best friend Dave, was also down in front , but he was dead center. White man in Hammersmith Palais, was only available as an import single, and we had never heard it- or so we thought. Strummer leaned down in between songs and asked Dave "what song do you want to hear next?" Dave said "White man in Hammersmith Palais", and Strummer said "We just played that!"

This is true: my brother and I were down in front- we snuck up. We left before the encore, and headed to the backstage door. There were two people already there. We waited, while the doorman told us to get lost. Then the door opened and Joe Strummer said "yeah, you first five, come on". He took us upstairs- Simonon was on a couch with girls on each arm, Jones was in the corner by himself looking shy, Headon was talking to some suit, and Joe was with us, asking about the show. He was very nice.
