Very nice video of the work and, like so many others have said, the camera makes it much more interesting to watch. Check the last repeated left hand chords. The score I use has the G-A (played with 2-3) change to A-B in the middle. He may have written multiple versions, though (because, you know, composers never do that...lol).
I am learning that piece right now! It's very fun to play & can't wait to get it up to speed. I played the 1st mov't in college (over 30 years ago). You play it wonderfully! I found your video quite by accident. Seeing it played from above is really going to help me. The only part I'm really worried about is the second-to-last page where the opening comes back in chords w/ hands-crossover. Haven't got there yet. Thank you for posting this. Bravo!
Great to hear from you! I love the first movement! I love the whole sonata! Glad to know you are learning it. He was such a great intense composer. Glad you like the overhead view. Thanks again for your kind words.
Wonderful piece. Fine interpretation. Nice camera angle, open piano and keys. Only comment would be playing on a better tuned piano! The chords just don't ring on it.
Okay, first of this a a fantastic video and a great rendition of this song, so before I say anything, it was great to watch, keep up the awesome work.
I'm pretty sure the only reason I even realized this is because I'm currently working up this piece, and after weeks of playing the descending chord jump part between 0:55 and 0:56 (best description I can give of it, sorry), I realized i was wrong. It's actually supposed to be both hands 8th note, right 16th left 16th both 8th, not 8th 8th 8th
Wonderful playing of this piece. I don't quite agree with your interpretation after the recap (the "rounds" between the left and right hands), but you were exceptionally clean in the "octave" section (with the suspended c# and such). Overall an awesome playing.
I found this piece of music on a tape years ,many years ago and never knew what it was called.I have loved it for so long.Thankyou so so much for this. You played it so well too!!!!!!
2:05's the best part ever... i love this song and i sware this is the best performance of it ive heard. and lol i think this was a song in 8 bit form of a boss battle in a sega genisis game.
Joseph, mis respetos, una interpretación admirable. Yo sí soy argentino y fanático de Ginastera, de Carlos Guastavino y de ELP y tu ejecución es realmente impecable. I'm from Argentina, I followed Ginastera for many years and I'm his fan, excellent your interpretation and feeling.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt words. It really means a lot to me that these compliments come from a countryman of Ginasteras. I of course too am a great fan of Ginastera and ELP. Can you recomend me some works of Guastavino? I would be glad to add them to my repertoire. Stay in touch!!!!
Hi guys. excellent interpretation of one of my favourite pieces ever. VengadorDeFincas, you are a fan of Ginastera and Guastavino. So am I, but unlike you, I am not in Argentina, and some of their pieces are exceptionally difficult to get outside of Argentina. Where can I get "Palomita blanca" (Guastavino), the Tucuman songs by Ginastera, ? and so many other songs.
Wow - you are fantastic. I played this for my university recital and didn't get nearly as many correct notes as you! It's an exhausting piece of music isn't it?
It looked like you played something in a totally different way in the FF violento section? Otherwise, very good technique! I would play it more aggressive though.
It's nice to (a) hear an in-tune piano, (b) see a helpful camera angle, (c) hear a good performance on YouTube for once. Search for "piano" and most of the results are beginners playing the Tetris theme song badly on a beaten old upright, with the camera sitting on the lowest keys, and all of the comments read "OMG ur sooooo good dats amazing!!!!1 lol!!!".
Wow, really good performance! I play this piece as well, and although I do some things differently, it's clear from this you know what you want and have the technique to do it....just watch the tempo slowdown/pauses...it loses the "ostinato machine" momentum. Bravo! (really nice hands/movement, btw)
very nice. Maybe try to point out the rhythm a bit more, that is very important in ginasteras music, makes the places where there is no melody but repetitions more interesting. Try to think about the places where you become slower, some of them you should keep in tempo.
Very nice. It was courageous to post a video angle such as this for all to see - I wish more would do this. As another post mentions, your hand movements are quite efficient and economical and also relatively fluid. Tell us more about yourself - do you have any releases out, are you a student? On the video, I am getting some popping - are others getting this or it is just on my end? Anyway, nice job. Tough piece. Ginastera is great.
Nice work. A bit overpedaled in the middle, but excellent clarity in the finale and penultimate page. you should post the other movements. I would love to see how you tackle the monstrous 1st!
