The Volkswagen W12 motor isn't called a W12 because it's a v12 configuration. It's called a W12 because that's how the cylinders are configured. It's not that the wheelbase is too short for the power, it's too short to handle the weight distribution unless it was modified to be mid-engine, in which case it would still take a professional racer to drive it around a track, but if it's also AWD, which would surprise me since they already dropped the money to put the W12 in, then it's possible.

It was a technical showcase done by VAG in 8 weeks, using the 6.0 litre W12 out of the Bentley Continental GT. The suspension was beefed up as were the brakes, but it handled really badly because it was never set up to be driven properly. oh, and yes, it was AWD.
