Goddamn, Bryan Ferry was so hot. His body in that uniform just does it for me (look at that fantastic ass!!). Mmm mmm mmm... I love the way he dances, too. hehehe ^_^ ♥
Ahem.
Although I too prefer Bryan's solo album version, it's great fun to see Roxy Music do this song. Thanks for sharing! ;)
Bryan Ferry was one of my favourite singers when I was 15, and for a good reason too! His tunes (especially with Roxy Music Mk. 1) helped me stray from Eminem and into real music!
I am going to use that quote, with attribution of course --
"Bryan Ferry had invented the 80's by the mid 70's"
A band this good, this amazing, this far ahead of it's time can leave you at a loss for words in trying to articulate just what "it"is that separates them so drastically from the rest of the pack...
But, that -- well, it sums it up about as well as I've ever seen.
"Bryan Ferry had invented the 80's by the mid 70's"
he was wearing leather bike jackets for school when he was in the juniors . even then he fancied himself....................... the bradey square kid did good.

Everytime I hear Roxy Music, it makes me cringe. I never knew music could sound sooo baaaad (not good, but bad, terrible, wow, my ears are bleeding...)
I remember seeing bryan ferry for the first time in detroit mich 1975 I want to thank my friend matt for inviting me --with his older brother --i became an instant fan and am one still to this day
Bryan was always in with the "In Crowd". Love the line "spending cash, talking trash"

Phil Manzanera: Let's just say, not one of the best guitar solos!

This "uniform" look no doubt inspired both Michael Jackson and Mohmar Ghaddafi.

@DeafFret Dobie Gray did the original version. Ramsey Lewis Trio did an instrumental version later the same year.

Good live version. Still prefer the studio cut... Ferry really made it sound dark and foreboding.

You got that right. Roxy Music was a New Wave band ten years before New Wave was cool.
Merry Christmas. Peace.

This song, written by Billy Page, had been a hit for Dobie Gray and Ramsey Lewis, but Ferry and the band put their own bizarre, sinister twist on it.
Samurai9 3 years ago
If I may say so this is a perfect description of Ferry's version. Sinister and bizarre (in a good way!). A powerhouse, heavy version too.
