  • Walked around here when I lived in the village.

Some of the buildings are still there and were used for many years to grow Rhubarb of all things!

There is now a modern newly constructed metal barn/warehouse but, from the road, these nissan huts can still be seen especially this time of year when passing by with no foilage to obscure the view.

I believe that these huts should be preserved as they represent the last wartime buildings of the 303rd and would make a great museum to that group.

  • Thanks for sharing that.

  • over paid over sexed and over here

  • My Grandpa was a co pilot on a B-17. One day, on a mission over Musselshaven, his plane was all shot to hell. The pilot was dead and everyone bailed out to safety. My Granps was not one to quit and bail. He was scared, hurt and frightened. Well, he stayed with the plane as it plunged straight down from 18 thousand feet. The ground came up so fast that the planed exploded on impact. Well sir, what do you think what happened to my granpa? He died, of course.

  • My father was stationed at Molesworth with the 360th in 1944. Thanks for a nice memorial. It would be worth preserving the old barracks as a museum.

  • Wonderful. Been researching my uncle who died on 303/358 raid on Oscherslaben Jan 11, 1943. This somehow caps the whole experience. Thank you so much.

  • Wonderful. Been researching my uncle who died on 333/358 raid on Oscherslaben Jan 11, 1943. This somehow caps the whole experience. Thank you so much.

  • currently work at the location at Molesworth, I will trek over and get a status on site 7 this week, thanks for the video, I had no clue there were even barracks over there.

  • I was stationed there in the mid-90's at the JAC (Joint Analysis Center). Wasn't much left then so I can only guess what it is like by now. So much history, so much sacrifice. Let us never forget!

  • great video. is this all owned privately now. look like there was farm equipment stored in some of the old buildings

  • My grandfather was with this group-I have the flight patch off his jacket and his flight goggles. Thanks for the video.

  • PART 1 -

Thank you for the video. I went to school (7th and 8th grade) at Molesworth AFB circa 1973 - 1974 while my dad was stationed at Alconbury. I used to think it was very cool and loved the old buildings.

We used to walk past the old quonset huts/barracks to use a field adjacent to the runway for PE/soccer. I don't know how long they used it as a shool campus but I spent 2 years there before they built a new campus on Alconbury. We came back to the states in '75.

  • Very Very Nicely Done. I'm a historian by trade and an ex-soldier, you go to these places and if you really listen you can hear and see the ghosts of the men who lived in these places. Its very powerful.

  • i just meet a plot of the 303 bomb group he flys the hell angel! he toll me he cant forget the fw 109 and the 190 think you all.

  • Nice video,I love these air bases,I lived on two whilst my Father was serving, one a RAF base and the other a USAF base. There was just some sort of feeling on them, hard to explain, but at times I could hear those old aircraft in the wind and feel the spirits of the brave souls who flew them never to return. Makes the hair of the back of my neck stand up even now thinking about it. Thanks for the post gunner17470.

  • who all wants to demolish them??

  • lot of memories there for a lot of people sad see stuff like this disapearing forever.

  • Great music.

  • Someone must have the floor plans for these buildings for these airfields? The Army airforce WWII archives?? Who actually buildt these airfields the English or American military?? What with all of the airfields that were buildt they should at least preserve one as an historic museum or something...

  • My dad and my hero Norman A. Cote gave three of the best years of his life as a crew chief at Molesworth, 303rd, 360th. As a child I asked many questions of him and he always praised everyone involved there. Today so few of us have even a hint of what all these heros did to ensure the type of life we take for granted here in the US. Molesworth is a precious monument that never should be touched. Gunner17470-many thanks! I'd always wondered what Dad's home looked like. Preserve Molesworth!

  • 65 years ago : makes you think.

  • How many guys looked back as they were taking off, never to return, all these old airfilds should have historic interest classification and never built on, or changed in any way apart from restoration.

  • Good video. They are actually Nissen huts rathen than Nissan.

  • Great slide show! I just finished the book "Half a wing, three engines and a prayer" which is about the 303rdBG.

  • Great stuff! My father was stationed at Molesworth as a member of the 427th squadron -- 303rd BG. He flew 36 missions as a top turret gunner / flight engineer. This video has very special meaning, as my father passed last July. Thank you for making it available for all to see.

  • Whats the update on the site? Please let me know.

  • What a shame, any update?

  • Echoes and echoes.

  • Brilliant music. Great film, well done. Well photographed. Who is the band?

  • The Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band

  • The music gets me ......

My buddy was stationed there in the early days before the fighters were able to escort all the way.

303rd bg 360th squadron Griffins crew

Lots of stories. Have some original photos of the base mostly interior stuff

  • what type of souless men are these who carry out the wanton demolition and removal, of these powerful badges of history, who in their continued existence add greater value to the english landcsape, than any property developer ever will.

  • Very true and well said. They are a powerful badges of history.

Sadly not much of anything that is built today will have the same affect on people in 60+ years time.

They ( the airfields ) need the help now before its too late,"Because once its gone then its gone". only to be replaced by souless industrial boxes with no meaning of history of what happend there.

Thanks Gunner17470 for this realy well made posting, great music.

  • As I will be returning from Italy to visit the airfield and get my FIX.

I wish we could somehow save these buildings.Does anybody know Bill Gates, maybe he could help(I wish).

    Keep filming

    Thanks.

  • 100thbombgroup my brother knows Bill Gates but it is Paul Allen that would be better to contact as he owns a B-17 flying fortress bomber.

  • Thanks m9078jk3,I just hope he looks on youtube and finds this posting.

Hey Mr Paul Allen anychance of some help with saving site 7 ???

    Well its worth a try.

  • Sorry to see this sort of thing still happening.the butchers of the 8th air force airfields.Seem's like there's no respect left.

Its gives me such a sad feeling to see it all slowly melting away.

Thank you for recording this for history.

Do you think it will still all be standing this August.

  • Sadly, the owners of these lands want to use them for other things now and there is not enough money to preserve such valuable bits of our history. All these bases and all of the people who lived and died in them will all too soon be gone. It is the way of time.

I am very grateful that some people still take the trouble to record these things and make them available to us all.

This is a great tribute to the men of the 303rd BG. If only it could influence the decision to demolish their base.

  • Good work Mate.

I cant look at those photos without feeling freezing cold though. I vote we hold off on the airfield visits until the summer!
