might be usefull to put your tld behind something like cloudflare as it could increase the stability of your webserver(s), not sure what type of setup your working with currently but if you can pull in some money of adds you might want to look at a fallback solutions( like Round-robin DNS), i would need to see your traffic logs etc to be able to give you real advice on the subject.
I am happy you decided that Stargate belonged on your agenda after all (and that Batman would make the Death Star more effective, I only have to add that it would have to be an evil Batman, because otherwise there wouldn't be much death)
I love Stargate to bits and I'd love to hear your opinion and criticism on it
personally my favourite light-hearted episode of SG1 is Window of Opportunity, I believe it manages to be funny without diving straight into silly rather it's true to the characters
Yes! Stargate! The thing with stargate is that I find it does a lot of things better than star trek, but also visa versa. I think those reviews would compliment each other, but we'll see I guess.
@petrino I hope you're sarcastic with your "*trashes his own review*" line. Just because Chuck is doing it doesn't mean you can't do it as well. So what if you have different opinions? I'm guessing people would want to hear opinions from two different people.
@mitmfan the more opinions the merrier, after all, nobody is perfect so they can't always be right, the more angles you get on a thing the closer you get to the truth
Stargate!? I've been watching the series again on Netflix, and I've often found myself wondering about what your opinions of the series are, so it would be pretty cool if you would start reviewing it.
I would watch these reviews no matter what show or movie was being reviewed (with the exception of My Little Pony, whose review I will not watch on principle), but Stargate SG-1? My mind has been blown. B-)
As soon as you said Stargate, I made a loud and excited inhale, and then my sister looked at me like she always does when I go online near her.
Had she asked me what it was this time, I would have loved to tell her with a straight face: Batman.
Seriously though, you just made my day with that announcement. 10hrs at work and a shift change? SFDebris is doing Stargate, so all is right in the world.
Chuck please stop putting truly awesome What-If scenarios in our heads, there is only so much my imagination can handle. On a related note, I think the Navi would have torn apart the Imperial Stormtroopers even if they could shoot straight...
Great news that you've decided to open the door for two more shows! On the other hand, I'd prefer if you covered more episodes of the non Star Trek shows you're already doing. At this rate, it'll be difficult to analyze any of those with much depth but, I hope you get more donations.
Regarding Stargate, I say review any of them. It doesn’t matter whether it’s self-contained or not. I’m sure Stargate fans would enjoy hearing reviews of any episodes. I don’t really see the need to limit yourself to a couple of seasons, if you’re willing to open up the series for review.
Yeah, trust the Stargate fans like me and others Chuck... stick to 9 and 10 for now. It's self contained to the point of almost not being related to 1-8 in anyway whatsoever.
Alternatively try Stargate Universe, which is unrelated to the point of almost being another franchise. Like Firefly, it was a show that died long before it's time.
I have mixed feelings about Stargate the franchise.
I love the concept behind the Stargates themselves, but I get irritated at the suggestion that the ancient Egyptians were inspired by aliens, especially ones which are basically little barbed worms inhabiting humanoid hosts.
I've only ever watched SG-1 and liked it, but I don't give a stuff about Atlantis or Universe. But I think that even for SG-1, I'll just torrent the seasons online rather than buy them - they cost a fortune on DVD.
@Foebane72 I can understand why anyone would hate the ''Egyptian Gods are aliens'' and ''humans evolved from an Ancient civilization'' concepts but actually Star Trek has used the exact same themes. According to TOS the Greek gods were aliens. According to TNG aliens spread their DNA across the universe. Both franchises are fairly ridiculous when you think about it.
i'm guessing that your stargate reviews will be seasons 9 & 10. good idea. covering the whole show would be a nightmare, and it's almost self contained, so references will be easy to comment on.
Did you get the animated series on dvd? I contacted you a while ago because I have a spare set. I got sidetracked in getting it to you and I apologize. Its yours if you want it mr sfdebris, just contact me and I will get it out to you sir. Thanks and keep kicking butt!
Dude, the Empire was defeated by space teddy bears. Of course they aren't going to stand a chance against giant blue Native Americans on flying dragons.
Also, I hope you get your issues worked out. I can't wait to see your Stargate reviews.
For webhosting, I can highly recommend NearlyFreeSpeech. They are a "no-frills" webhost that only charges for resources (disk space and bandwidth) used. I've been a customer for over 5 years.
More sci-fi (really, any proper space sci-fi, of which there is NONE on the air right now) equals more nerdgasms. Thank you for all your hard work mate!
On a serious note, your reviews are great, you have plenty of viewers also. Have you ever thought about putting adsense on your site to generate the cash needed for a better host?
Whatever happens, thank you for this. It is much appreciated that you take the time to make these reviews.
I should probably clarify that this is an unusual situation right now; normally the donations cover all video/web expenses without a problem, but I made a number of (much needed) upgrades, but there was a defective part that wound up costing me more and more to get sorted out, and coupled with my own personal issues (the car accident, my oral surgery, etc) preventing me from covering it until there's enough back in the coffers... it's just kind of a perfect storm.
@sfdebris Sounds like you've been living out Murphy's Law. If you need to put a video on hold, please do so, your output is way higher than a lot of web reviewers, even ones who don't have a dayjob to worry about. I just hope everything calms down for you in the next few weeks :)
Don't worry, SFD. We still love you. u.u

Hey you!
Thanks for the BSG review, and for everything in general.
If you ever return your attention to TNG, this particular devotee of yours will be very very happy. :-)
Hope you've had a good holiday...
