  • Das ist richtige Musik

  • The very first time I heard Procol Harums " Whiter Shade Of Pale" on the radio ----I thought " Man, somebody ripped off Percy Sledges " When a Man Loves a Woman----melody---chords-----organ "-------

  • Percy Sledge is so damn good, he is cool as ice.

Love his voice, and I love America. Wish Percy would come to Norway and sing.

I'd be the only 25 year old male in front-row-center though.

  • The Hammond B3 is a awesome instrument in good hands!

An you sir did a great job.

  • Mr. Sledge is immortal.

  • PERCY'S just THE BEST!!!!!

  • Percy doing Procol Harum

  • Ouch! I wish I had not stumbled into this. He is a great singer but please forget this song, totally out of his style range, he killed it. He even forgot about the second hammond piece and tried to save it by aborting his start and mumbling over it for a bit. Go check out his (early the best) When A MAn Loves A Woman, then you will hear what he is capable of doing.

  • Don't get me wrong, you're entitled to your opinion and I welcome it, so first of all, thanks.

That's me on Hammond and Percy did not step on the interlude, that's the way he does the song and the way he recorded it decades ago. As to this being his style, you may not know that "When A Man Loves A Woman" played a part in inspiring the song . From Wikipedia: "The music also borrows ideas from "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge".

  • @GgergS Gregg, thank you, I obviously stand corrected. Percy is a great singer and as much I like most of his songs I just did not dig this version of another classic. In any case, warm congrats for your Hammond work, it must have been very exciting to play alongside such a great artist. His voice sounds at times really like that other music' most glorious voice.

  • @GgergS

    great job, by the way...

man I don't give a damn..he kicks so much ass,

they had to hand it out in doggie bags..

be safe and thanks for the song...

    -M

  • @electrongas Percy could sing with a mouth full of shit and still sound good!

  • @electrongas You not now what you are talking about

  • Love it, this is me, a whiter shade of pale, awesome song, but better with Percy Sledge singing it for you!

  • Great song and a great singer ! Percy is the King !

  • i like both versions of this song ive heard procol harums and percy's i think they both soud great

  • They don't have the voice up loud enough a good try any how but why did he pick this song .......just 'cuz it was popular at the time or what?

  • Sure, I prefer Procol Harum's original version on this, but I have to give Percy credit for doing a decent job on it. This was not only a "live" version, but recorded via a camcorder. If he could've recorded this in a studio with all the magical effects they add, he'd been pretty cool with it!

  • A song is as good as its recording. The sound effect in this video is awfull. Percy Sledge is a great singer and any song he performs, he does great justice to it.

  • Thanks for the comment. The audio was recorded with the built in microphone on a Sony Handycam DVD recorder. If not for that there would be no video.

  • Thanks for your honest reply, I posted that remark in response to the negatives I saw for this video. Anyway, thanks for this video, I love this song, it gives me memories.

  • funny how this song is so close to his style vocally. weird.

  • sorry but YUCK!!!,,that awful,,Im with you he should definately stick to his own material,,at this stage hes doing good get those down good

  • I heard all versions and except a very few ,it is better to leave it to Procol Harum. This version does not belong to good ones.He should stick to "When A Man Loves A Woman"....which was much worse than Spencer Davis Group version.

    Pretty bad......especially whining part...

  • Good version, but the percussion is overwhelming his voice.

  • agreed, but i think the organ is as well, hes lost in the mix : (

  • well im 17.. still pretty young and i know my music very well =]

  • Youngsters have no idea what soul is all about. Or how many vestal virgins were reformed 'cause of soul music.

    Sweet Jeebus.

  • OK, he's not Elvis, but he brings a little soul to this tune. Give him his due, I've heard worse versions. He's still the soulmeister, or at least one of the few that are left. Show him your love folks-JW

  • you should hear the one from Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society!!

  • Best version next to procol harum's

  • It sucks besides Procol, listen to their new versions Union chapel or the lastest one with the danish orchestra....

  • Percy é UNICO !!!

  • i love this version

  • oh god, how lovely is this

  • i know it takes my breath away

  • I love this...dont know really why but I love this ...

    lol

  • this is awesome! thanks!

  • I'm an idiot. Percy Sledge is not dead.. Not sure where I heard that but it's obviously in error.

  • RIP Percy, you say hi to Wilson Pickett for us when you guys are jammin'...

  • Which year was this ?

  • It was September 14, 2006.

  • 4:04 - 4:08 hahaha what the hell was that about

  • That´s a SOULMAN !

  • Good version!

  • Great cover, but I wish the drummer would have played the song like the original.

  • i am ajerk and i am so depressed.

  • great track

  • wonderful voice- one of the best ever!

  • JUST FANTASTIC

  • i meet him ,sounds better in person!!!!!!!
