  • At 4:08 Professor Moriarty lol

  • I should be studying for my politics final... But chemistry is so much more interesting...

  • is there anything he doesn't know?

  • Thank you Professor, for all the videos; I wish I could post this in all of your videos but it would be considered spam. Just be sure you´ve made a great favor to the human race and a source of entertainment for science lovers. I wish you a long life, health and even more wisdom.

  • I am thrilled to hear an Englishman pronounce 'Einstein' right.

  • i like the last part :)

  • 6:04 The same wage as now LOL

  • 0:49 students lazing about

  • I understood the Einstein lecture, because it had the names Faraday, Maxwell in it.

  • 4:09

Prof. Merrifield is a member of the LA cripps gang? :P

  • the shaky and zoomy camera annoys me big time

  • I am german but I don't understand anything that's written on the blackboard...that is because of:

    a) He has a terrible handwriting

    b) it's to complicated for me

  • @moblsche Well, I've understood "Vereinheitlichte Feldtheorie". The other things were difficult to read because of the camera moving.

    Grüße aus Hannover

  • @kristijanadrian

hihi....thats right...in our country the word science would mean "naturwissenschaft" what means in other words...everything which has to do with researching, experiments, formula maths...alll these things..but i don't know any better word than science in english for it..do you?

  • awww i really would've loved to hear the lecture of einstein..i mean i love science...AND i am german..so..it would have been quite funny. but unfotunately...even my parents haven't been born that time!

  • ugh i love this guy lol

  • When they zoomed in on the portraits, was that a real professor Moriarty?

  • Astonishing to keep the chalkboard that Albert Einstein used back in the 1930's i didn't know about that? What a treasure! Absolutely fascinating, the camerman mentioned how much would a peice of history with such sentimental value be worth? The answer is *priceless* i'm pretty sure you couldn't take for any amount of money Leonardo Divinici's Mona Lisa from france either....... Energy Mass X speed of light squared

  • did anyone else catch that, at 4:09, there's a Professor Moriarty?

  • we are made to not be around so many unknown, we survived by not trusting and getting killed.

survival of most surviving explains our sexual needs and wants, such as biological organisms would be if they had evolved by the survival of most surviving. out of atoms reproducing, self-copying. lump of atoms.

in space on a planet in a galaxy and the observer grows upward in the sizescale.

we are free to think whatever we please. we must realize we are two brainhalves, on other sides of a wall.

  • Anyone with that kind of hairstyle better be a brilliant scientist

  • "How much is it worth?" is an interesting idea. It is worth whatever someone would be willing to pay (obviously). While scientists might generally be a bit more rational with their money than some categories of people, there must be some that would just go crazy for this board. I have a notion that I would be prepared to pay quite a stupid amount for it myself and I'm not rich by a long way. Or even a scientist.

  • Thanx for sharing that !! I feel better for having such an awful handwritting :D

  • lol at the last 2 comments

  • Wow, he pronounced Einstein right! HE'S AWESOME!

  • it's such a nice video...

this is very helpful to those who want to learn more about chemistry,,,

    GOD BLESS

  • That blackboard is awesome!

  • It looks like Einstein left his hair behind too! Thanks for all you have done.

  • Clone him!

  • @TallCatsMakeGoodHats and you are an asshat

  • aww, i'd really like to hear professor Poliakoff actually SPEAK german. =)

  • you heard him say "Einstein" but so would I!!

  • polonium!

  • element number 84, first radioactive element emitting all alpha rays!! kinda poisonous but thats to be expected!!

  • whats the new channels name going to be?

  • It's called sixtysymbols and it is already up and running!!!!

  • Are you the man in the video? :| If yes wow! I tought you would have no time to reply.

  • I love the way Brady gets stuck in and asks the Prof questions. 'Well go on then' lol. Really wish I could've made it to todays chemistry live show. I hope there will be a next time and that everyone had fun. and that it was recorded? ;)

  • I'm from germany too and i'm very proud, that einstein was born in germany and

    was so amazing =)

  • DAMN - just went to hit pause, but missed and gave a " 1 star" rating ! sorry...

  • Ha ha! Don't worry, we won't hold it against you... Maybe you've uncovered a serious YouTube design flaw!

  • Indeed. Is the man in these videos the person who comments/just commented?

  • I saw another preserved blackboard of Einstein's writing at the Oxford University Museum of Science - needless to say, I didn't understand any of it...

I've been enjoying the Physics videos too, but they really don't have the charm of The Professor !!

  • I tried to watch the physics videos, in fact I watched all the ones that they have so far. However, let me just put it this way, they haven't in my opinion found their Martyn yet. Maybe the bar is set to high? Maybe they just need the right hair?

  • Great Video

And he's one of the few people that know how to pronounce Einstein correctly

  • "Science makes me ho**y"

  • Comment removed

  • Hornium2O

  • NICE!

  • lol

  • heyyy! i work in germany :D and i think physics ROCK! now i'm excited- whoot!

  • Lmfao @ physics students not understanding Einstein cos he was speaking German

    and

German students not understanding Einstein because he was speaking physics

  • thats funny as eh!

  • was Einstein really dyslexic?

  • Yes he was

  • Lol Einstein borrowed 5 pounds, and never payed it back.

  • Eep. Im doing Physics at the moment :D

    Science<3 ^-^

  • I really like this story!

  • That is one cool piece of relic you got there!!

I bet physics students pray before it the night before an exam. :)

  • Okay, I was only joking! I didn't intend to offend anyone. Sorry if I did. Of course physics is a real science.

  • Pff, physics, that's not a REAL science! ;)

  • the professor is slippin' lol

  • Ahhh. The Nottingham physics deparment. It was in that very building that Sir Peter Mansfield constructed the very first MRI scanner. An invention that won him the Nobel prize and continues to save countless lives.

  • WOW, I never knew that.

  • Wow, that's cool!

  • if you freeze this video at 3:44 you see an image which would make a wonderful still photo. you see Einstein's words and in the glass a reflection of the Professor. really cool. i had to stop the video to tend to my dog and when i came back i saw that image.

  • HAhaahaha!! nice find!

  • "I've been watching their video's instead of doing my work, i encourage you to do the same." Lol i don't think my teachers would be as understanding!

  • "But unusually for England, it's sunny!"

Too true lol. Great vid, and a nice piece of history tied to the campus. Notts Uni must be rather privileged and honoured to still have such an item in possession, and in excellent condition too.

  • einshtein?

  • thats the German "Original" pronounciation of his name...

  • I love these videos. Your campus is so beautiful I'm almost jealous but I love my uni. Thanks again for this awesome story.

  • einsteins blackboard thats cool i didnt know there was stuff like this that he left behind i would like to see it someday!

  • At least the person is willing to share the chalk.. LOL

  • Cool...love it

  • I love these videos for more then just the science in them, the stories the professor tells about the scientists are always quite interesting as well.

  • Always good! Thanks.

  • Great vid. subscribed to the physics channel aswell.

  • cool blackboard! Best channel on YouTube!

  • Profesor...you are the best!

  • Superb. Keep the awesome videos coming.

  • haha that dramatic zoom at the beginning was epic!

  • i love the professor!

  • i have seen them all :D

  • For some reason I love watching this guy. Recently this is the only guy who I make a point to watch all of his new videos.

  • my grandpa was a miner/drunk, my father is a dentist and i will be a biotechnologist and the first scientist in my direct line

  • lmao ... i bet this professor wasnt poor growing up..

  • Would love to see that chalkboard one day even if just for a moment!

  • LMAO I'm sure the guy will appreciate his £5 a few decades late XD

  • Always love the stories that come with the videos.

  • Both Chemistry and Physics channels are excellent. Any chance that the Biology dept may follow and launch a sister channel?

  • Yeah, biology would be great! :D

  • @madderscientist23 good idea

  • amazing GO EINSTEIN we love the hair and professor martyn m. poliakoff, you could be the new einstein YOU HAVE THE HAIR what else is needed?

  • I'm still young, but if i do decide to pursue a career in chemistry I really do consider going to the UK just to go to Nottingham; it looks fabulous. D=

  • Excellent vid (especially liked the bit about economics and finance at the end).

The Professor must be getting absent-minded: he walked straight through someone else's class at the start, the class looked like "Lying-About-on-the-Grass 101."

  • I'm sure it was just some students on break.

  • Wow! You need to get out more. Have some laughs!

  • Hey! I laughed it, just pointing it out..:)

  • sweeeeeeeeeeet!!!!!!

    Einstein For the Win!... ^_^

It's got to be awesome to have that blackboard!

great vid! also looking forward for the physics videos ehehehe

  • Gasp!! I saw Sherlock Holmes's nemesis at 4:09 in the staff pictures!!

    Professor Moriarty lives!! Gasp!!

    Looks young, maybe a grandson.

Question is, when does the evil come out???

  • a question to any americans, does this guy have that coveted english accent we hear about in shows like friends?

  • Incredible

  • thank you for sharing

  • random comment

  • I have wondered what somebody like him would have written for equations, and how fast it would be worked out.

  • Awesome video! 5/5 P.S. Thanks for telling me about the "sixty symbols" channel! I will always love chemistry above all else, but its good to be well rounded lol!

  • i have the problem of liking too many subjects. at the moment i want to major in 4 subjects, comp science, math, physics, and chemistry. i want to phd in all of them, and im not even a senior in hs yet. talk about a future of hard work. oh well, its worth it to turn out like this guy.

  • haha that is exactly like me, I take a great interest in almost anything

  • I have the same problem...unfortunately the college that offered me a full scholarship (and hence the college I'm going to) does not offer physics or chemistry as a major, but as Albert Einstein said, "I never let my schooling interfere with my education"

  • He entered the enemie CAMP!

    (the evil physicist!)

  • entire family of science!

  • I just love these. Will be subbing to the Sixty Symbols in a moment. Woohoo! More great stuff to watch!

  • I don't really like phsyscs, I'm more of a chemistry kinda guy, but it is very intersting that they would keep a chalkboard someone wrote on, it reminds me of a tissue someone might buy off E-Bay that claimes to have been used by their favourite celebrity. Eck!

  • I'd think it would be a more apt analogy with a notebook for thoughts claimed to be by the professor, rather than a tissue.

  • It' snot the same XD

  • wooo physics

  • I'm impressed =) thanks professor!

  • wow, what a random artifact!

  • That was very interesting about Einstein, thank you for sharing. I have been watching your videos for a long while now and will take a look at the Physics side. I hope they are as entertaining and informational as yours.

  • its priceless

    Albert Einstein

    is the best

  • it's pretty good for something that was just put up an hour ago.

  • Wow Sounds Like a great idea. I myself am interested in physics. Then There would be two cool subjects I like. Physics, and Chemistry. Sweet
