5.1 Surround Sound in Sony Vegas Pro 8

Can anyone help? I've made this awesome thing and it makes use of the surround sound and when I play it in vegas it sounds perfect but when I render it as mp3 or wav you can't hear a lot of the background noises and sometimes the sounds are too quiet. I've tried switching it to stereo, mono, joint-stereo, dual channel on mp3 but with no luck. Any formats that will render it exactly as in vegas?!

@scarylegodudes the mp3 and the wav doesn't support 5.1, only 2.0 if you want 5.1 you need ac3 or aac

The surround panner in vegas is cool. But there's no surround sound bus system integrated in it, so it's pretty useless for any serious surround sound production.

Man I just have regular Sony Vegas 8.0, not pro, can I still achieve this effect somehow?

no its the regular Sony Vegas you can buy from bestbuy, but im gonna upgrade to this.
