How are you doing this? Are you running the drumstation with the a-station's arpeggiator or are you running both from an external sequencer? Or other?
Yeah, it might well be the width of my rack, but all the other kit goes in easily. It will go in but this is only because the rack is tall enough that I can put the a-station in rotated and then push it down at the ends to squeeze it in.
Ok you're right. I got some different racking solution for the moment, so slightly wider back doesn't bother me. Anyway, good luck with your A-Station!
I recently got a different desktop rack thing and it fits in there perfectly so it must have been something to do with the geometry of the studio rack :-)
What is triggering the drumstation? I want to trigger it from a quasimidi 309 but neither the 309 nor the drumstation has a midi omni/poly mode. So my 309 sends out the kick on midi ch. 1, the snare on midi ch.2 etc. When the drumstation has midi receive ch. 1, only the kick is triggered. How do you solve this issue, or have you set up ableton to send out drumsounds on different midi channels?
You will always have one receiving and sending channel in MIDI for drumstation. What you trigger are different MIDI notes. I set up Ableton sequencer so it triggered different notes for drumstation. If you would for example played a midi keyboard plugged via MIDI to drumstation, you would trigger different drums with different keys. This is exactly the way you do it via using you sequencer. On the page of 47 of drumstation manual you have the exact midi notes percussion map for all sounds.
Yes but the problem is, the 309 that I use as hardware sequencer, doesn't have the possibility to setup different notes since every instrument on the 309 has it's own midi channel. If the 309 would have a midi-out omni/poly mode, your solution would be possible.
to make it easier klausito just plug in a midi keyboard into your 309. figure out what keys trigger what drums and then sequence it into the 309. i dont like doing a lot of mouse clicking or button pushing sequencing, i just metronome and click it out on the keyboard, then quantize. makes your workflow a lot faster and you can make more complex beats and beats that have more velocity variation (if you have a velocity sensitive MIDI controller. pretty much anything out now)
drum station is a good deal, don't know why anyone would shell out for the inflated prices of original 808's and 909's. some of that stuff sounds like Caustic Window
Great video. Really enjoyed it thanks!

reminds me why I got an a-station in the first place. now if only it wasn't 1cm wider than the rails in the rack :-(

Is it really wider? Mine got the standard size...

Could I use my mc 303 sequencer to trigger and write songs for the drumstation using midi?
