Rest in Peace Valentino. You will me very missed, I always wanted to see you, now i never will. I know how he died, He was having a surgery and when he woke up from it he went crazy. So they put him down, sad. I will always love him.
he had an inguinal hernia which was affecting a testicle but was operated on and he appeared to be going well after the op but developed colic sometime after. therefore resulting in him being euthanized.
Please get your facts right before you spread rumors. People don't put horses down for waking up "crazy" from an op.
@ilovemyARABIANS HE did have an inguinal hernia, but after the operation, he woke up and started acting crazy is what I meant. So I am not spreading rumors.
@TatianaMarie2 Actually, that's wrong. He was crazy from birth. Lol, Valentino was a big goofball. I can't tell you how many times I found him in his stall; blanket half over his head just standing there waiting for someone to get him out of it! Gorgeous boy, silly boy, crazy boy. He'd walk out of the stud barn on his hind legs, but, watching him put his game face on was AWESOME! Take him to the grooming stalls and get him ready, his presence grew, the excitement level of Valentino was amazing.
@TatianaMarie2 I was a groom for Midwest. He was goofy for sure! But too much horse for me! He struck out at people and other horses a lot. Even Magnum was better behaved! There was actually electric wire in Valentino's stall to prevent him from hurting himself against the walls.
I remember a photo shoot in which David decided to use mares to get his attention, even the trainers were spooked about it! The only thing between Valentino and Millenia was a fence and a few people... Super scary!
@TatianaMarie2 However, if there were no other stallions around and he was quietly in his stall he was a lover! He loved scratches and rubs. First couple of times scared the wits out of me, but he'd lift his hind leg like a dog when scratched in the right spot! HA! He was a pretty boy.
Oh and you should have seen him trot on the lunge line! Beautiful!
I read a couple of emails this weekend stating that DA Valentino died on 4/8/2011. I'm still not sure what happened, but I think he was only 8 years old. The tribute I read stated that his first foals were in 2006 and he currently has 219 foals to his name. He was truly an amazing animal. He will be missed!
I got to meet this magnificent stallion while in Scottsdale. I visited him at Midwest's AZ location. He is truly amazing in person! He simply takes your breath away, and Very sweet personality. He is gorgeous!
Also, if you loved Valentino, watch for his son, Vitorio is just amazing!
