  • never realised what a good song this is 'til i heard this version.

  • I love this song and if you don't like it, then keep it to yourself. Go be a hater somewhere else because this is beautiful

  • I think that Sarah Blasko has a horrible voice and I really cannot understand what she is doing near the music industry. She destroys Yellow Brick Road, she cannot get to the high notes and she really stuffs up "Flame Trees". I think she should really, without being nasty, look for a new career.

  • @sexypetscoco You b*#%! If you are such a bloody hater, then go listen to your litle justin bieber. *Pokes out tongue* :P

  • Urgh. Blaskemy strikes again. Hearing this put me off my food, the same way that hearing her Blaskemous version of Flame Trees did a while back. Thank goodness she's got her fans, coz they'll support her mind-numbing mediocrity. Meanwhile, something REALLY interesting and talented will crop up and they'll blink out of their hollow-eyed glaze and realise they've been drugged into an emo-folk stupor. Talent shows ARE circumsribed trash, but HOW is Sarah Blasko changing the face of music exactly??

  • @quasiquasi111 leave us alone

  • @BluesGee "us" and "alone" don't really belong in the same sentence do they?? And this is a forum. Where people are welcome to lodge their opinion. I don't like her cover, and i don't give a toss what you think about it. :) Now go and put the kettle on.

  • @quasiquasi111 lol.

  • This song is much more enjoyable when it's not a dude singing about another dude ... just sayin ...

  • @missbeaver26 She covers this song fine, adding her own style. You mad?

  • Hey, why not eh ? I love it ! (Don't kill me, Elton !)

  • TERRIBLE!!! if she auditioned with this on a talent show she would not get through.

  • @missbeaver26 Who has really changed the face of music that has come from those shows? Kurt Cobain or Madonna wouldn't have gotten on American Idol, but they made huge impacts on music forever

  • @BackToTheFutrell who is talking about changing the face of music? I am saying she sings this song terribly and I am not the only one who thinks this. If she were judged on her singing ability from this song she would not rate highly. As for Madonna changing the face of music that's debatable! A talentless entertainer who has only sold cd's by being controversial and changing her look, her music isn't that special and her ideas are all 'borrowed' from other people. She is a parasite.

  • Lovely version, but not as good as Katie Noonan's version

    v=BIPP0ep9O_Q

    With her band Elixir :)

  • would love to get the chord sheet for this version :)

  • We all agree the best will always be Elton's cause it is his. Now, I like her voice, definitely a nice try. I will say I like it... but there's something missing. This song should be sad, you are dying, saying goodbye broken hearted, the sadness and sorrow are there... I just heard the Keane version and it is better cause they really got the song. I also found the dream theater version and it is also good!

  • shessssssss awwwwwwwweome !!

    check out - -- 420dilbert420 -- -

  • Something about her voice... it's like a drug. Great cover! =)

  • Sarah Blasko you're my hero

  • <3

  • kinda sucks, really bad. but i aint gonna press dislike.

  • OMG this is an amazing version of this song.

  • This is the first time I've heard this song and actually heard and understood the individual words. Example: I would have bet my life on the fact that there was no mention of a "horny back toad". Love it. Also love her version of "Flame Trees".

  • omfg i fucking fuck shit bitch this is so fucking good it's impossibe

  • well she is not very good at this song she is good. she just should not have done this one

  • I must agree with shade231 and winnetouch, this song is performed well by her but this song definitely needs falsetto! Good bye yellow brick without falestto is like cone without ice cream...

  • she's got a good voice but she just can't do anywhere near the high of john. And without it, the song looses the zest. Not her fault it's like a Frenchman trying to pronounce the letter h lol.

  • The cover looses much because a woman sings it. No offense to all the women out there but the falseto that elton sings just ads that "umf" to the song that this version is lacking. It's a nice cover but it's missing that certain thing. I still enjoyed it though :).

  • this is a great version and she does it very well, but is she is hitting some off notes in the lower regester?

  • thankyou JJJ for existing.....

  • Haters

  • shes an aussie

  • 24 people have no soul

  • wheres this chickee from? wishin sh'es canadian..

  • @hollyraeraeful she's australian!

  • The original song must be the one I listened the most in my entire life. This cover makes me rediscovering it. I am glad I have ears.

  • Wow...this is beautiful!!!!!

    :O

  • Goosebumps.

  • arrastra muy bien su voz algo exagerado pero canta hermoso

  • Very beautiful and very sincere. An excellent working of this song, please let record labels know!!!

  • great cover, she reminds me of a dutch actress called carice van houten.

  • Lol! The people who listen to this song either really like it, or really hate it, there isn't any in between lol

  • @SandyOlivesUnderPie I'm inbetween, on the (I like it side) though. This is by far the best cover, but no where near the way Elton Sings it.

  • Her voice has some dry cracks which ,to me, perfectly fits with this heartbreaking song. This guitar solo also catches the lonesome vibe of the song meaning.

Respects to original, and Big Props to her version. My personal most favorite version.

  • for anyone who thinks this isnt good enough imagine what you would sound like covering this

  • she's great

  • What a beautiful rendition of classic Elton John. Having listened to Elton's tune many times never did I give the horny-backed toad one thought, nor did I make a note to buy more tonic water. I will listen again now. Maybe the gist of it all will dawn tonight.

  • i don't like it. it sounds like nothing

  • I like her music normally.... but for some reason this version just doesn't click with me..... end of story..... moving right along.... lol

  • It's Sarah, she doesn't have to hit all the high notes like others, it's her way of singing it and I love it. Would be boring it everyone sang it the same way.

  • I think my ears are gonna start bleeding in a minute! Yucky!!!!! :-(

Don't let Elton John hear this! He'll probably start crying!

  • @azaraangelwings11 dude, it's her version of it and it's great. I can't think of anyone else that could do this to this song without disrespecting elton. I am a fan of the original, but this is just a nice simple female version done by an aussie and it's awesome.

  • muito bom veri good muy biem

  • “…maybe you'll get a replacement

there's plenty like me to be found

mongrels who ain't got a penny

sniffing for tidbits like you on the ground…”

    Amen!!

  • hey timour and god in low watever. thats what makes her so amazing .such an honest voice, not fake in any technical" tweak this up, tone that down, with a heap of gadgets way " to make em sound perfect ..life is full of imperfections and thats what makes it amazing go listen to britteny if you want perfect but fake bunch of haters get a life

  • ttmor is right, she sings out of tune , she cannot reach the highest notes and it's not better with the lowest ....

  • @godinlowden

    Ahh sanity, thank you!

  • muito legal parabens!!

  • This get's better each time I hear it

  • Bloody awful. My ears!!!

  • @ttmor Are you having a violent eargasm? I would understand that...

  • This is a great cover. I prefer it to the original. The whole point of the song is the wish to return to a simpler way of living. This requires an interpretation of precisely the type that Sarah Blasko gave. Very simple, straightforward, slow, non pretentious, no back up vocals, nothing fancy. I listen to it many times a day, never get tired of it.

  • @kirkir2007 hey...me too... I really liked this cover of Sarah....a very light/smooth to my ear.

  • @kirkir2007 interesting

  • some of the chords are wrong, but otherwise great!

  • i like it. nice version of a great original :)

  • only thing missing was her gorgeous tongue ,luv it

  • Why does she pronounce half her words in an American accent and the other half in an Aussie accent? O:

  • Lovely version...great rendering!

  • Elton sang it because he wanted out of his contract

  • sara

  • meh... not great but it's the only thing i can listen to on youtube on my iphone

  • better chord variety wouldn't do any harm

  • Good lord. Next.

  • Me Gusta esta cancion es muy bonita para Mi y A ustedes

  • wow, just discovered this singer, she has a very unique voice

  • too low to her at 2:14 - 2:17 .. sounds a bit amateur. Please, try a higher tune next time

  • @TMUSICIAN too low?.......how about too stupid. i was going to say you sound a bit mongoloid please try stuffing a violin where the sun don't shine. or try suicide next time. thank you.

  • @rrrick1000 are you fuc---g her or what? She clearly could not reach those lowest notes. Dont be a child, I am just giving a hint.

  • @TMUSICIAN I totally agree. Why didn't she sing it up a half step or a tone or something? That'd prob make it too high for her actually. The best cover of this tune was done by Katie Noonan. It's unbelievable! You should check it out...

  • @TMUSICIAN You can't hear the music and it is not cause of your ears. listen it is a great thing that people like you don't end up playing with great legends that some times like Cobain, CASH, ETC. people who might sing out of key (not perfect) but yet are very creative, original, with great vision and lots of emotion. This usually ends up connecting with people big time. It's like a sonic postcard straight to the heart. Instead of a perfect pitched bland etc. Ah heck go buy some feelings.

  • Can't ever be good as Elton, but a very good, loving take on a classic.

  • @Psychonaut117She's aiminog for a totally different interpretation. She's not trying to be Elton. I bet he (and his husband) think it's beautiful.

  • @hundknabe Just saying I like the Elton John version better. It isn't like I was trying to say she has no talent. She is a great singer, and this is a very good version of the song.

Just saying that I feel that way. Sorry if my having an opinion and all gets on your nerves.

  • @Psychonaut117 No your opinion didn't get on my nerves at all - just pointing out that she aimed for a different interpretation. I lvoe the original, but think Blasko's version brings something new and interesting

  • Very cool. :O)

  • Wow

  • Loved that!!

  • I heard this the other day on the radio great version

  • I'm trying to put together a mix tape of covers that completely blow away the original songs and I just stumbled across this. Perfect.

  • Why do people talk about chords this was done for like a version she can sing it however the fuck she wants

    and i think its awsome

  • Everyone giving this version a hard time, its a cover, so of course its not going to be the same as the original...

Oh and, who cares if shes not playing the same chords as Elton..

  • she plays the chords that works with here voice

  • She has a very sweet voice.

  • Sorry, but she's not even playing the right chords. It's fine that this meant to be a stripped guitar+vocal "unplugged" version, but she's not even playing it right, she's basically doing the same 3 chords over and over. This is probably my favorite Elton John song, and I really don't like how she did it.

  • you cannot compare this to the original; it's a stripped down version - just a voice, guitar and mandolin(?). elton's got layers of instruments and backup vocals set up to make a fantastic, epic work. apples and oranges.

    i think she's great.

  • This is so offensive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goin to see Temper Trap tomorrow night and SHE'S supporting....think I'll stay in the pub till this wailing banshee has finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @yelknahs

Shes better than bloody temper trap, thats for sure.

  • She is very beatiful and have a great voice... buttttttttt eltonjohn is just better XD (yeah i know elton is ugly hahahhaha)

  • Ok but why the fuck does every singer today have to purposely crack their voice before they sing a word? I mean WTF? Either sing or STFU.

  • @JamesTKirkCobain given that she was sick on the day....yeah.

  • Sorry, that comment was meant for ItBrandoSilver.

  • Batholomeo if you don't like this version fair enough, but to say she butchered it is just crap.

  • omg, this cover sux.

  • never realised how good the lyrics of this song were until i heard this stripped-down version

    like it.......a lot!

  • Are you kidding me?

    She completely butchered this song.

  • excellent voice! <3333

  • does anyone know where i can download this song???

  • delightful!

  • cool voice!

  • nicely done, tough song to sing.

  • This is awesome. Sarah, you're a very good singer.

  • excellent cover Sarah xxx

  • its not disappointment .. first time i hear this version and she rocks.. shes hot and love her accent :)

  • wouldnt walk across the road to see elton... sarah could read me the phone book and i wouldnt miss a beat.

  • i'd give you 50 thumbs up if i could hahaa spot on

  • awesum love this song heard it on jjj but didnt know it was sarah. she's awesum :)

  • loverly!

  • yep, TripleJ.

Considering it was sung live on air with no mixing it's a damn beautiful effort.

  • but... the harmony is not the right one!!!

  • Hmm I actually was in a massage palour today and heard this. I like this version. Yes I agree that although some parts are a bit flat she makes up for it with the haunting effect of her vocals on 'road' and the other high notes. Its good in that it made me listen even when I am not a Sarah Blasko fan.

  • Pretty...a bit thin and flat in spots... some of the acoustic chord interpretations don't work but if I had never heard Elton's song, this one would sound good enough. Not amazing to my ears in any event.

  • She is great but no one absolutely no one comes close to Elton and the highs and lows of his voice . No. Thanks.

  • I suddenly like the original version 10x more after hearing this. Fanfuckingtastic!

  • awsome

  • This is the bestest version ever!!!Fantastic...Thank You for posting...

  • That was really nice. I gave it a 4/5 rating but really meant to give it 4.5/5. She has such a sweet fragile voice that lends itself very well to this particular tune! =)

  • @trumpeteerTralala - round it up? :D

  • This is off the Triple J Like a Version CD.

There's some awesome covers on both cds.

    i love Sarah Blasko:)

  • She's absolutely awesome! I don't want to hear what 'the best trained singers' do, they're boring and predictable!

  • She does have a soft, beautiful voice.

  • i like the emotive quality you've given this song. it's sort of a more husky vulnerable sound. l like it. thakyou for the vid.

    Ashwin

  • gw suka bgt suaranya...,hhhhhhhhhh

    kerenn deh

  • i love this song and i like her uniquness, but she is very pitchy in her low notes and has a thin tone as well.

  • I think part of that is the recording.

  • Sarah Blasko is totally awesome,

    Oh Yerrr.

  • Whoops!!!

  • Comment removed

  • A gorgeous, soulful and unique voice, but I have to agree a bit about those high notes, which are supposed to be climactic but she just can't give them enough oomph.

  • You're right. She can't project the way the best trained singers can. She does have a unique quality to her voice. But you can't ignore proper training, either.

  • i cringe everytime she does the "roooooaaaaad" part in the chorus.

  • haha i agree... i dont know how she has made it big with a voice that causes suicide

  • God that's a pretty song! I actually do like it as much as the original.

  • love it

  • Best cover i ve seen of this song , it might be better than the original

  • hi!

no this is very good!!but elton `s version and voice is special..

    >>>take care of u people...

  • this is definitely better than the original.

  • This is my kind of woman!

  • I fucking love this girl.

  • soz i mean keep up thegood work sarah

  • does anyone have the guitar chords to sarah's version?

  • love the song taylor keep it up

  • sarah you've got a beautiful voice and a beautiful face to match much love from this aussie bloke xx

  • beautiful.

i adore it, she has a really amazing voice

i siply adore her verson of this song

thankyou so much zyrec for putting this on

youtube, i am very grateful (Y)

    xx

  • i love sarah blasko's musics! many thx zeryic!

  • Good god, this is awful compared to Elton's far far superior original.

  • I'm afraid I agree.

  • Carefull what you say, for some reason it looks like Zeryic is hiding any message that doesn't prefer this version.

  • She sounds like Feist...almost

  • You stupid philistines. She did this with a huge cold, as stated in the interview with Triplej if you bothered to listen to the full thing, instead of commenting in ignorance.
