i love paul gilbert... i just wonder what it would be like if he played a les paul. his tone is just always so... mediocre? my favorite player though. flame away!

@BigMcMedia1 I think his tone on his last 2 instrumental albums and the United States albums were pretty amazing. You can definitely get amazing tone from Ibanez guitars, and besides, he actually plays Gibson copies on a lot of his songs over the years.

@andyrosebrook yes, but why do all of his instructional videos sound so bad? clearly he knows tone...

@BigMcMedia1 It's pretty obvious, he travels around a lot teaching, and isn't lugging a $2000 vintage marshal around everywhere. He's using their crappy amps most of the time. And the other thing would probably be when he's teaching, he probably turns the bass down and the treble up so you can hear his notes clearer. And the third reason might be when he's teaching, they're not recording his sound with very good gear probably.

@guitarplayrRJ haha as hsoux33 said that was because of playing the seconds before with his teeth and also listen exactly to his sound, this is not a sound that's really easy to play with...actually it's thin and hard to play with, so I think not a lot of people can play such an hard peace of rock like scarified with such an difficult sound :)

I thought. Haha Paul Gilbert messed up. But the second afterwards i realised it was because he lift up his guitar and played with his teeth and when dropping the guitar missing out, haha everyone would be able to fuck up totally then.
