OTC sleeping pills just to relax. I had extreme insomnia with lots of nightmares. Although it helped me at the time in important ways, I fear sometime what regular, continual use of it does.
I took Prozac when it first came out. I was in my late twenties during the eighties. It did seem to have a permanent effect on an issue I had with anxiety/panic attacks that would sometimes get delusional. I still get anxiety but it just doesn't manifest in that way anymore. Which I can tell you was a great relief because they were truly horrifying. But it also seemed to put me in a blissful, carefree state. Prior to then I would regularly take 6
i think medications effect different brains differently, its not an antidepressant, but my dr gave me melatonin to sleep and said not to take more than 3 because i would wake up in a hospital..... i didnt even sleep after taking 4.
Took prozac for a month. Made me exhausted, weak, and made some of my hair fall out-which luckily grew back about over the months after stopping the med. Tried Effexor for 2 weeks and it made me exhausted, weak, and caused bone and heart pains (although I'm only 23, in excellent physical shape, and have never had any pains of that sort before).
I have depression, take all kinds of pills, and it's not worth it, it alters the brain which means it changes your behavior, has loads of side-effects. Did you know that they sodium fluoride in Prozac, which is also used in rat poison, it's sick that anyone takes that garbage, psychiatry is the real disease in our world, trust me..Locking up people if they think their behavior doesn't fit their perspective of normal, nazi scumbags!!
The placebo effect is still effective. Suffering is still suffering, and the longterm effects of untreated depression/OCD have major consequences. This isn't to say I would advocate to medicate everyone. Proper psychotherapy + Rx has been repeatedly shown to be beneficial, whereas psychoTx or PsychoRx separately weren't as effective. I do agree its important to educate your audience but you're also insinuating they should stay clear of any medication.
They worked. However, I had to get rid of all allergens (eg casein) plus take Lithium 300mg to raise vitamin D levels. PMDD is a depression manifesting as low, free circulating levels of estrogen relative to bound levels. A large study confirmed it, and another study in Britain confirmed it. SHBG is a big culprit, but PMDD is triggered by ovulation. With lower free circulating levels of estrogen, Vitamin D plummets post-ovulation. Vitamin D regulates immune system, so allergens aggravate it.
"Just because an antidepressant had an antidepressant effect in a person doesn't mean there was a chemical imbalance?" Really? So Alcohol, weed, cocaine, ect doesn't fix chemical imbalances? We all know alcohol can make you happy. Maybe they ought to just prescribe that instead? Might be a whole lot safer.
Have you or your loved ones used anti-depressants and facing side effects???? Then I have good news for you You will be eligible for compensation Get back to me here I will share details Email me here effinnycymnbw @ gmail com
Please don’t forget to mention which anti-depressant you used
amphetamine does not cure depression. this are all nonsense. depression need treatment and it is not a joke. for some people they have less remission while others have more frequent. depression is real and get treatment. ask me if you have any question
But do antidepressants even WORK!? According to the research, including misrepresented studies like STAR*D, over two thirds of people taking an anti depressant are still depressed at least 8 months out of the year. You should read Robert Whitaker's Anatomy of An Epidemic, and his blog by googling "Mad in America blog psychology today". And you say like it would be OK if AD didn't fix imbalances as long as they did work, but then what about alcohol? That WORKS better than anything.
DEPRESSSION IS DEPRESSION WHEN PEOPLE CANNOT SLEEP OR FOCCUS ON THINGS. I AM A PHARMACIST TRAINED IN INDIA. I HAD TO USE ANTI DPRESENT FROM MY THIRD YEAR OF PHARMACY TO NOW. AND I DID WORK WITH MENTAL HOSPITALS IN INDIA. I DID WORK IN MENTAL HOSPITALS AND EVEN IN GROUP HOME IN CANADA. THIS STUFF WORKS. HOWEVER ABUSE OF ANTIDEPRESENT PRISCRIPTION IS THE FAULT OF YOUR GOVT AND NOT PHARMACUETICALS. IN COUNTRY LIKE INDIA ANTIDEPRESENTS ARE
@jaycdp Anti-depressants are old age garbage that fuck with your brain and eventually make you more suicidal and damaging. A healthy diet and a good lifestyle is just the tip of the iceberg to heal from it, YES heal. NO DEPRESSION ANYMORE.
@jaycdp Look at the work of Irving Kirsch, for one, and you'll see that, retroactively, it's been shown in studies that antidepressant meds are no better than placebo for mild to moderate forms of depressive illness. The "abuse" or what I would call the over-prescribing problem is the whole culture's problem. As U.S. citizens we need to start requiring more from our medical professionals and do our best to get the pharmaceutical companies to have less sway over them.
a must see video mindbook.ws sec cinema title -Making a killing; the untold story of psychotropic drugging. this may save your or your loved one live.
Credibility "serotonin theory of depression," asks a serious blow to the effectiveness of antidepressant called Stablon that works by reducing the concentration of serotonin in the brain.
I take antidepressants Anafranil and Prozac, and after a couple of months taking those I started to become impulsive, aggressive and unable to sit still or sleep well, felt agitated and uncomfortable, also these spasms in my face. I advise you guys to take this only if it's exceptionally necessary!! They screwed with me, and I don't understand why I didn't see this from in the beginning, why did I just trust them, ow yea, because they're the professionals right...
@JohnnyX1239 if you want to try diffrent approch to understand your live /rather then looking for your wellbeing in doc office see Abraham-Hicks youtube
@nickallah I think I was a bit out of myself and angry when I wrote that comment, but in fact I'm doing very good, been for more than 3 years in a mental ward, it was tough there but I made some friends but the toughest thing was that I had leaky gut syndrome and chronic fatigue the whole time I was there but it wasn't a known disease, I got psychotic (brain/gut connection) But now I'm doin better, I don't really know for sure it was entirely because of vaccines though, thx for asking
@JohnnyX1239 I started on the Zoloft "starter pack" about 7 years ago when they had starter packs. The problem is that the company's dosage schedule--up to 50 mg within a week, then up to 100 mg after a week--may be too activating for people. I had to start slowly, 12.5 mg for two weeks, then increase by 12.5 mg for another two weeks, until I went to 200 mg. Now I take it and don't feel any different than after just drinking a glass of water).
I can't believe people think this is mandatory to take these drugs to keep different people out of the institutions. Institutions are still up and running, abusing their powers and hurting the patients. These drugs put schools at risk. All of the school shooters were on anti-depressants or another psychiatric drug. You can look it up yourself. Also, patients in institutions were abused on purpose and treated like lab rats as they were thought of as lesser beings. Everyone gets depressed.
Life is stressful. How do you think people once dealt with depression? Now if you are depressed you are put on drugs with no real therapy. The only people who stand up for these drugs are either addicted themselves or in the medical field.
Children are forced these drugs now. A child that is hyperactive? That is a child! The only real reason that child is put on drugs is because of parents who want relief for themselves meanwhile harming their child's brain. Convenience.
@Sashaeharmony Or a child that is hyperactive is a MMR vaccinated child, (ADHD,AUTISM, etc) and are then also taking antidepressants, killing them even more inside, it's fucking crazy and it happened to me also.
don’t take anti depressants if you feel depressed and smoked weed and your doctor gives it to you or else every little thing will bother you youl be edgy
I was suffering from excessive beer drinking disorder, I went to "Recovery Resources North Palm Beach" Florida , they presumed I needed psychiatic drugs for some sort of "dual diagnosis" its linked to Dual billing disorder. duuaal billling diss-order... !
I've listened and commented on your well spoken intelligent arguments here but I can't help to notice how incredibly hot you are. Lets get together and pop some pills.
fuck antidepressents. shit only has 50% success rate. i've been on trazadone and it hasn't done anything for me. i ain't paying for this shit you damn pharmaceutical companies. i will stick to pot that actually works.
Does anyone remember when Tom Cruise was talking about psychology and how it was all BS? He was even mad with the reporter and saying " I have read whole psychology books and it is BS" It was here on youtube.
psychology is trying to fix mental problems through science when most of these cases of depression and ocd and many more are spiritual problems hints the no proof thing jesus is the answer he is freedom i have scars all over my arm from burning my self tried to commit suicide a couple of times even on the anti depressants but as soon as i got saved i was filled with overwhelming joy and have not harmed my self or been haunted with self destructive thoughts or voices in my head.
Often You know only the Pharmacokinetics and the Comprehension is a development which takes time but it has also a lot of bad research with ethic Commission
why people belive in chemical imbalance is linked to "don't put hot food in the refrigerator" because great grandma told grandma told mom and mom told you cause in 1920 it would melt the ice in the ICE BOX and ruin all the food and over flow the drip pan. Today 2011 the compressor will remove the heat for 1/10 of a cent in electricity and is self defrosting. Your food will stay fresh longer if cooled quickly.
@fsagarnagaaw Thanks very much for your information, I was not sure abut the phone number you give, but I decided to call because my father had a lot of side effects with an antidepressant, we had to spend a lot of money in hospitals and doctors to keep him alive, that is why I decided to get legal help and sue the pharmaceutical company and that phone number was the key element to start, I hope you are all fine and god bless!
@geolisn I also was not sure but I thought I had nothing to lose and good things to capitalize and thank god I called, I'm glad to reach this video and called the number.
I had a huge problem with antidepressants, my blood pressure went very high and also some relatives had problems, this is all because of the doctor prescriptions, they only care about money and pharmaceutical companies share a lot of their income with unethical doctors, I decided to get legal help to try to recover my life back we received the necesary help in this toll free number in USA 1888-652-2889
@fsagarnagaaw omfg, you're trying to sue cause your blood pressure went high? I hope to fuck you don't get a damn thing but an ass whooping. I was tortured on neuroleptics my whole childhood and never got to have a life or anything, went straight on to SSI at 18 with no diploma or educational certs, no social or job skills or anything,. Know what I got? A stern warning that if I don't keep to myself in my parents attic, I'll be committed and put through it all again. And you got HIGH BP? OH NO!
I want to show your video to my shrink. I'm diagnosed with PTSD and once a month I see a psychatrist to argue my non-medicated stance. Since I returned from Iraq in 2003, I've been through several different anti-depressant drugs, ADHD drugs, sleep drugs, pain medications, and mood stabilizers. I finally gave up on meds and am convinced that the governemt would rather kill me with pills than pay me for life, go figure. Thanks for the video. BTW, WEED works better than ANY of those meds
@WTFukinshit "BTW, WEED works better than ANY of those meds"
Weed is not an anti-depressant. Cannabis will get you high, because it's a narcotic. If you smoke cannabis all the time to maintain high mood, you will quickly see why cannabis is not good for treating depression.
@RedDwarffs Actually, cannibis is NOT a narcotic, unless you are refering to the California legal definition, which was obviously written by politicians, not doctors. It is pharmacologically distinct from opiates and synthetic narcotics. It's been refered to in the psychological community as "natures paxil." But, since you aren't even aware that marijuana falls outside the definition for narcotics, maybe you don't have a firm enough grasp of the subject matter to contribute anything valuable
@WTFukinshit are you still alright from these drugs? do you notice any personality changes or brain changes? if not then you are blessed i am currently weening of celexa and i hope there will be no permanent damage which im confident there wont be? how do u feel?
@dannyboidj1 I had wicked side effects...things I can't really put to words when I came off anti depressants. It was almost like a throbbing in my head but it effected most of my sences. The important thing to remember, is that no matter what happens today, tomorrow can be better if you choose to make it through the night. Life is crazy, not you. You're insightful of things people choose to ignore and your mission is to make it through and help as many as you can along the way...that's it
@WTFukinshit i hope that these changes arnt permanent, especially being on them from 13-21, i hope that like any drug things can go back to normal. thankfully i was only on a high dose from 17-20 now at 21 i am back to 20mg of celexa so i think there is still hope for me. how old were you when you were first put on these drugs?
@dannyboidj1 Not until I was 28. I was on and off of them for a few years and when I stopped, I went cold turkey. It isn't recommended stopping all at once, but if you talk to your doc about going off meds, the talk usually gets steered towards you being a feeble minded mental patient who needs to be medicated, maybe not on the drug you're already on, but on something else they don't completely understand. Use your best judgement, it's your life, not theirs.
@WTFukinshit are you still alright from these drugs? do you notice any personality changes or brain changes? if not then you are blessed i am currently weening of celexa and i hope there will be no permanent damage which im confident there wont be? how do u feel?
@WTFukinshit You shouldn't argue with psychiatrists. They know exactly what they are doing and you will never win an argument against them. They know that their profession literally almost died before they teamed up with big pharma. They know the drugs are bad. They know it pays their salary. If you want the best resource for the scientific reasons why psychiatry is a runaway train then you must read Robert Whitaker's Anatomy of An Epidemic.
Make no mistake...I do think AD's are overprescribed and SRI's along with the new SNRI's should be reserved for people with Major Depressive disorder and/or a severe anxiety disorder. This is the way antidepressants were prescribed when TCA's and MAO'S were the only classes of drugs being used to treat MDD. The reason the sri drugs are used so often by doctors is because they believe they are much safer and better tolerated. These claims are certainly true but there's still major problems.
Also, if an antidepressant has worked for someone with MDD, you probably noticed the drug didn't work right away. It usually takes 4-6 weeks. Therefore, it's obvious that blocking the uptake of serotonin is only partially responsible for the Antidepressant effect. Drugs like Prozac start blocking the uptake of serotonin immediately upon first dosage yet the person is still suffering. Blocking the re uptake of serotonin day after day is only the first step in a chain link of causal AD effects.
@TheHolyMolyPoly If you were really open to alternatives, perhaps you would not be so angry. We all need to be educated about the truth about big pharma. This video is an important first step.
@TheHolyMolyPoly There are a lot of alternatives... You should look up 5 HTP, have a better diet (eating more vegetables and fruits),taking supplements, meditation and working out. You know, the obvious examples and easy steps than taking some pill that just alters your brain chemistry.
A while the body stops producing the chemicals making the user dependant on the illegal drug. Antidepressants and others are no different from illegal drugs!!! You are taking a chemical to replace what's missing, thereby continuing to fill in just like the illegal drug is needed the prescription becomes needed as well, it's just a different high, one that the gov can tax you on!
I did not like zoloft!! It made me feel worse!! Having to take Drug Abuse 101 for criminal justice, explained hows drugs work, and how illegal drugs do it's damage! Hence these prescriptions are just legal drugs!!!!
If when one consumes an illegal substance, the effects of the high, mimics what the body produces naturally. So when one feels high the body thinks ok time to release the chemicals, but the drug is already present thereby blocking what the body does. After
The truth about antidepressants are that generics are not equal to brand name. Thats why so many people have bad experiences with antidepressants bc the generics can make you very paranoid and increase anxiety dramatically. You pay for what you get and this applies especially to the antidepressants.
@theyear2102 No, it has nothing to do with generics/brand name's. I was on paxil ONE DAY and had a minor stroke and it was brand name. I couldn't move half my body, could not walk, and could not talk. Ex husband called the doctor and he said that these were the "normal side effects" of this drug. So I didn't go to the hospital 6 months then I started lactating, I hadn't been pregnant in 6+ years, my hair was falling out in chunks, presumed tumor, MRI showed that I had a stroke.
Antidepressants do work it's really just a matter of finding one with the least side effects. Paxil was awesome got me out of gigantic depressed state. Alot of weight gain. Zoloft for me was a nightmare increased anxiety and very manic. Prozac i took for 2 days and felt like crap. Lexapro chills you out even at 5 mg.
The obscure words or indefinite statements are actually not only for marketing and determined to use in case of a trial but also for that they really don't know. I can't say they have a big effect on the biology but the main purpose of the drugs to effect your mood is unknown.
For example, SSRIs works inhibiting serotonin reuptake and gives your serotonin level a boost. The action is intended to brighten your mood. On the other hand, there is a drug in which is the chemical called tianeptine.
@Aephqan Sorry I have to go on this way cause youtube didn't allow me to post that lengthy comment. :D
However this tianeptine enhances serotonin reuptake and gues what it's for? It also brightens your mood. It actually lower your serotonin level and by doing that it really does brighten your mood! That's exactly the opposite of the action of Prozac and so forth.
cont... when we are in a room full of ppl that we love. i feel like social interaction stimulates memory and serotonin. when your with good friends they can pick you up even from the worst of moods. no wonder feeling lonely hurts soooo much. it seems you can trick your brain into a chemical imbalance with behavior. life can actually give you a high just like a drug can. i am totally convinced. these antidepressant are good if you need a boost in the right direction but are bad longterm
oh yeah and i would like to add this since this theory makes alot of sense to me. the idea that behavior and chemical imbalances have a direct impact on each other. ppl that are depressed dont exercise, eat properly, and socialize much and this creates a chemical imbalance because your body isnt getting the stimulation it needs. I think the social aspect is the most important because of how our brain is wired. we are social creatures and there is something mysterious that is going on...
cont...i feel like that is what makes some ppl go mad from them. you have all this energy and you dont know what to do with it. i took lexapro and i couldnt sleep when thats all i wanted to do because it was just sooooo painful being awake and depressed. sleep was my escape and the meds wouldnt allow it
haha everyone that thinks ssris are just fluorides and "they" are just trying to dumb us down with them are truly misinformed. ssris can really work they dont always make the person a zombie. more or less they give the patient a newfound energy they arent use to which can help them get out of the brainfog or make them go crazy and commit suicide. imagine your brain speeding up from these medications and you dont know what to do with all these thoughts, feelingsand energy you have never hadbefore
i always have found that meditation can cure meditation, however there have only been very few tests to prove that, and although the test have positive results, it still isnt enough to win over the scientific community. i belive that depression is a learned behaviour. caused by thinking the same bad thoughts over and over untill it becomes apart of our personality (neuroplasticity). medition induces a calm happy state of mind, doing it everyday can develop a happy calm personality.
A recent study claimed better memory retention when information is conveyed via an attractive spokesperson. I can now quote this entire video verbatim!
It's good to see that there are intelligent people out there that are kind enough to put this kind of information out there for the oblivious minds to see.
I've been taking zoloft on and off forever (maybe a year and a half now) and I'll tell ya, my world has been crazy. I'm like a zombie on and off. Even when I'm not taking the medication for fear that it is doing this to me, it still affects my grip on reality. It really sucks, I miss feeling "normal".
She should have mentioned how pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars to Psychiatrists to speak around the globe, introducing how SSRIs "correct" the "chemical-imbalance" in the brain, and also pay to put their names on scientific journals that the drug companies wrote.
I have recently been prescribed Zoloft and have been taking it for 7 days. 8 years ago i was on Paxil for four years from 18-22 years of age. Those where the best years of my life. Since being off them for 7 years i have felt like crap depressed panic attacks social anxiety. Let me tell you they do work! And they work perfectly. Don't ever let anyone tell you different. Whether it is placebo effect or not i don't give a shit. I feel good and it's all bc of Zoloft and exercise.
@theyear2102 Your an idiot. havent you heard of brain zaps?? Your ssri's contain anywhere from 30 to 90 ppm of fluoride. You are truly being dumbed down. I know this because i dont take ssri's because there is plenty of it in our public water systems. So i bought a steam distiller & have greatly reduced the beain zaps. Just because your body is out of tune with your perception, doesnt mean that it isnt killing you right now. PPL that hear the zaps are truly gifted with forewarning.
I am so mixed up right now. I have been depressed for years and finally was desperate enough to follow dr advice & go on paroxetine...I was told that it has no addictive qualities, I can stop taking it at any time in the future. He said if the pill worked for me (admitting there will be trail/error adjustments) but now watching this I have a six month supply where I wouldn't even be consulted if I chose not to???
...Lexapro quickly stopped working for me and i freaked! i suddenly stopped taking it and i was literally psychotic. i remember not being able to enjoy anything and feeling rediculously paranoid. the worst part is trying to get back to that mindstate of bliss i had for 6 months. this happened almost 2 years ago and im feeling alot better but i will always compare every moment to that 6 months of "clarity".
damn lexapro worked amazing for me until it stopped working. the first week it sped me up like crazy! everyone thought i was on drugs because my pupils were huge and i was talking really fast but i didnt mind since i was feeling amazing and not depressed. then the next 6 months were great i felt like a new person, i could think outside the box, felt 10 times more articulate. the only thing i didnt know was that i was on a neurological rollercoaster and this would come crashing down hard!
So, it is a theory! This is not critical thinking... They say presume cause it is very hard to study cells in action, we can only take snap shots. We have to guess based on poor evidence, but there is evidence, it is just not certain that it works exactly like what we think. But fact is, anti depressants have a significantly higher success rate than placebo, especially against major depression. Don't listen to this smartass bitch.
@fuunguus No, this is not a theory..and yes it is CRITICAL thinking. Yes, it is hard to study the cells in action but it is a shot in the dark to presume something is working BECAUSE YOU CANNOT study the cells in action. I hope no one does listen to you being a smartass bitch.
@changingmyself I don't see any reason in being so overly critical over this drugs just because of a lack of absolute certainty. These drugs help a lot of people, I find it very arrogant of her to criticize them with no evidence to the contrary, bitch should just shut up.
@fuunguus Because the side effects are death and suicide. Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and MANY other people have too.
She didn't critisize these pills with no evidence, she used critical thinking skills to evaluate the claims in the booklet that goes out to the doctor.
@changingmyself what about the side effects of Major Deppressive Disorder?? Suicide + death because life sucks? Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and many others have too.
@changingmyself what about the side effects of Major Deppressive Disorder?? Suicide + death because life sucks? Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and many others have too. Your first sentence is so mis leading. At least substitute "are" for "may."
@pnpny04 Actually, I have, and had you actually read what I said, you would have seen that I had been effected by it, otherwise, how would I know the side effects of the pills? Oh, yeah that's right, because I have taken them. Not one, but several of them.
No, my first sentence isn't misleading, the side effects ARE death and suicide, not everyone has the same side effects and I never claimed that they did.
@changingmyself Not everyone is effected directly (i.e. harm to a loved one would effect me!).The side effects you speak of "may include..."But If I wanted to discourage anyone from trying an SRI, stating "death and suicide are side effects"should frighten them > enough. Now I thought you were effected indirectly because if you did experience these side effects 1st hand, what in the world are you doing here? Now you're saying science has proven ur claim first hand w/o considering other variables?
@pnpny04 Here is what it says at the Government website:
A small number of children, teenagers, and young adults (up to 24 years of age) who took antidepressants ('mood elevators') such as paroxetine during clinical studies became suicidal (thinking about harming or killing oneself or planning or TRYING to do so).
Does it say that other variables? NO. SPECIFICALLY: those that took antidepressants BECAME SUICIDAL. I not only became suicidal, every thought I had was about death.
@changingmyself Okay,so it's true in some cases people experience suicidal ideation and that's awful.I'm not saying black box warnings shouldn't come along with antidepressants.Nor am I saying they should be taken off the shelves.I'm assuming they never will be if the benefits outweigh the potential harmful effects. That doesn't make your situation any less serious. As far as variables I was talking more about statistics outside of controlled settings (if there's any) where big Pharm. had to pay
@fuunguus Also, the only one acting like a bitch here...is YOU. If you don't like what someone says, move on or debate it her with FACTS that she is wrong. You are critisizing HER with no facts...and you aren't using critical thinking to do it.
@changingmyself These drugs help people, that is a fact. SSRI's increase serotonin in the brain, that is a fact and easily measurable. How exactly it does this is not completely understood, but it is thought to inhibit serotonin re-uptake.
@changingmyself Youtube is the worst place to have an open discussion. I wont cite sources cause it is just a hassle. You clearly haven't done any research yourself, if you are ignorant to any of this then I urge you to do so cause the information, or evidence, isn't exactly hidden.
@fuunguus Wow, but yet, here you are, on youtube, attempting to debate it...
Your ASSUMPTION of me not having done any research is just that...an ASSumption. I have not only done my research, I had taken these pills for years and the side effects were DEVESTATING to me.
As someone else mentioned here...it only MASKS the depression. It doesn't cure it.
@fuunguus Read Anatomy of An Epidemic. There is lots and lots of evidence that they harmed far more people than they help, and that they probably don't help anybody by themselves anyway. Psychological placebo-effects may very well be responsible FOR EVERY SINGLE person that ever got better on a "antidepressent"
TRUTH: The body doesn't need harsh synthetic "medications". It needs infusions of vitamins and minerals, and not to be flooded with toxins. The greatest medical invention of the 20th century is the JUICER. As you put less poisonous food into your body (processed & genetically modified food, refined carbohydrates, high-fructose corn syrup, pesticide-ridden, and, yes, cooked foods), and more raw foods and vegetable juices, especially dark leafy greens, you'll be amazed at your uncovered potential.
I think the modern diseases started because of chemicals that we're fed daily trough our food. I know these aren't anti-depressants but all chemicals impact us and if "normal" chemicals in food can create bad functioning of human body then you got to be bold to take chemicals that directly affect your mind. That's a machine which shouldn't be tampered with!
It would be naive to believe that pharmaceutical companies, who are responsible for researching, developing and marketing products such as antidepressants, are not in business to make a profit.
I have recently been diagnosed with depression which i have had for more than two years now, and i have been giving AntiDepressants to take, i havent done so yet because im scared about the side effects? My family and friends are saying not to take them, thinking that it will make me more F'ed in the head ... =/ ??
My mom was 100% in good health. Physically and mentally. She went to a fruit loop phychitrist and she prescibed her Geodon. Its a mistake that has about killed my mom. She now weighs 115 lbs and cant even drive. She is now has to be with a family member 24/7 because it has (destroyed her mind!)
It makes you loose your mind and will destroy it. The peaple in the FDA that allows this and the Doctors prescibing it should executed and burn in hell.It destroys minds and famlies.
@jayjayfresh2006 I mean no offense when I say this but some people (like myself) really need it. And I understand that life isn't easy. I've done everything correct. I eat right, I wrestle for college and I have a job. My life is great and I have no complaints. But im constantly angry and that leads me to push people away. I can't explain why it happens I really cant. There's a few reasons I can think of and I don't mean to give you my life story but anti depressants really saved me.
@shogun996 I have PTSD. What is happening is bad memories tied to events. The only way to escape this is by controlling cortizol levels & repairing damage. This will click you out of the Amygdalla & into frontal lobe rational. This is the herbal remedy which will change your life. PSmatrix Phosphatydil Serine Matrix. I have been taking it for 8 months now & i get angry, but almost immediately can actually ask myself why i am getting so crazy. then you can rationalize a solution.
@LendMeYourHand What's your opinion on Bupropion or "Wellbutrin"? (they're both the same thing) Or how bout meds like Adderal that help ADHD? I'm just wondering because I take Wellbutrin. I used to take adderal but the Wellbutrin does it all for me. But I do hear a lot of stories like "they make you dumber" or "you're becoming too dependant" things like that. I was wondering what you thought of these drugs?
@shogun996 I have used critical thinking in a way that the ELITE dont realize how Google search engine has designed itself to give me all the answers. You think i'm kidding?? search methods are everything when rebuilding the psychi thru search engine. Its a much deeper meaning, while ALL are watching. This is my ability of study. As i have had a very easy assessment of Bupropion to still display symptoms that do not inhibit any response!. The placebo effect is not the case with PSMatrix.
@LendMeYourHand you also mentioned PSmatrix Phosphatydil Serine Matrix? something like that. Where did you get that medication? Does it work very well for you? Sorry I ask because it seems like you know what you're talking about. I take Wellbutrin and from what I read in the research it's one of the lesser evils.
@shogun996 I am a very unusual circumstance. I was born with some kind of awareness. This awareness observes. I realized that i was having high levels of Adrenaline in my blood. I am like super adrenaline that floods you. It is a drug that i am under influence under daily. It can last for 6 hours if i am driven & excedes 30Htz. But this also allows for me to drop way lower than average humans as well, which allows me to hypnotize myself & others. I was always inoscent in nature.
@jayjayfresh2006 So since you have a psych degree that makes you what? The know it all of medicine.. Being that you have a psych degree it should warrant your approval of these drugs.
Fool! Evidence based medicine was being manipulated by Pharmaceutical companies. They have been prosecuted and fined in USA for paying ghost writers, (The very people you so venerate) to give their names to supposedly scientific papers. You will now notice that the side effects of anti-depressants have now to be published. This was forced on them by the FDA. Its because of the ,"cherry-picked ," evidence that this came about. We present the facts. You make up your own mind.
@crispy336 Who are you babbling to, did you forget how to work the "reply" button? Who is "venerating ghost writers"? The only one venerating writers of any kind here is you. Yes drug companies do the wrong thing some times, when they do this they are prosecuted. This year Forest was fined over 100 million, it wasn't for antidepressents or any kind of psychiatric medication, it was for a drug treating hyperthyroidism. Should we throw out all medical drugs because of cases like this?
@thecyberpunk Extract House of Commons APPGITAA "second point of contention at the meeting was the absence of prosecutions by the MHRA of pharmaceutical companies for withholding safety information."
@crispy336 Stop quoting statements you have little or no understanding of. I am not here to be your teacher, I am not here to educate you on the concept of CONTEXT or CRITICAL THINKING.
@thecyberpunk A diabetes drug taken by up to 100,000 Britons has been banned after it was found to raise the risk of heart disease.
European safety chiefs yesterday took Avandia off the market, three months after the committee responsible for drug safety in the UK called for it to be withdrawn.
@crispy336 Thank you for making my point. All forms of medication have unforseen risk factors. So what's the solution, do away with the last 60 years of medical advancement? Go back to lobotomies and institutionalization?
constipation was also another constant problem i had on these even though i was getting plenty of fiber. so i weaned myself off of meds, a month later i joined a fitness club, started tanning, started using fish oil & coconut oil, stopped eating all soy products, today i have no depression or health problems, have lost that 40 pounds, now have a alternative holistic health care doctor who talks to me with respect, now i have my life back. (big pharma & their drug cartels can kiss my ass)
i was on bipolar meds and antidepressants for 14 yrs, yes they do work, but they caused me alot of other health problems, I.B.S. and severe digestion problems, weight gain, constant trembling, muscle weakness, constant yawning, sleeplessness, skin problems, severe migraine headaches. 45 lbs overweight in 03 i told my doctor i was unhappy about all this & he said TOO BAD then he said that if i stop taking them then i will have to find a new doctor, he was very rude about it.
Have you ever heard aboout evidence based medicine? Eventhough the therapeutic mechanism is not fully understood, we know that these meds are efficient. This is a fact.
@vesamicol NO! The evidence is in the drug companies own trials that they failed to publish. They were revealed to work no better then placebo AND they were aware that they caused suicidal and homicidal ideation. They did not consider it necessary to tell the FDA or MHRA(UK) this. Therapeutic evidence?? Why do you think GSK and other pharma co.s have been and are being sued and paying out millions in costs. Are you employed by them?
i myself have good help from mirtazapine and seroquel .Depression is hell on earth .But if the critics on medication are so clever they are welcome to come up with a better treatment ,i look forward to that.
ok, so what if they dont know how it works? DOES it work is the question! I dont care if they tell me "aspirin is presumed to be liked to kissing-my-ass" as long as my headaches go away!
It's sad that many people fall for big Pharma's marketing hook line and sinker.
If you take the time to read some of these studies and think about what you are reading you will notice that often the study constraints help reach the conclusion the drug company wants or omit to give information about long term effectiveness.
While many drugs do work as described, there is a cost -side effects. Often there are better/safer & cheaper alternatives to drugs that get ignored.
Seriously, you come off as a ding-dong.... It's easy to suggest something doesn't work when you yourself have know idea how it works.... I think I need prozac, because your video is making me suicidal

Weed is not an anti-depressant. Cannabis will get you high, because it's a narcotic. If you smoke cannabis all the time to maintain high mood, you will quickly see why cannabis is not good for treating depression.
RedDwarffs 2 months ago
@RedDwarffs Actually, cannibis is NOT a narcotic, unless you are refering to the California legal definition, which was obviously written by politicians, not doctors. It is pharmacologically distinct from opiates and synthetic narcotics. It's been refered to in the psychological community as "natures paxil." But, since you aren't even aware that marijuana falls outside the definition for narcotics, maybe you don't have a firm enough grasp of the subject matter to contribute anything valuable

@WTFukinshit i hope that these changes arnt permanent, especially being on them from 13-21, i hope that like any drug things can go back to normal. thankfully i was only on a high dose from 17-20 now at 21 i am back to 20mg of celexa so i think there is still hope for me. how old were you when you were first put on these drugs?
dannyboidj1 1 month ago
@dannyboidj1 Not until I was 28. I was on and off of them for a few years and when I stopped, I went cold turkey. It isn't recommended stopping all at once, but if you talk to your doc about going off meds, the talk usually gets steered towards you being a feeble minded mental patient who needs to be medicated, maybe not on the drug you're already on, but on something else they don't completely understand. Use your best judgement, it's your life, not theirs.

M1thotyn 2 weeks ago
Make no mistake...I do think AD's are overprescribed and SRI's along with the new SNRI's should be reserved for people with Major Depressive disorder and/or a severe anxiety disorder. This is the way antidepressants were prescribed when TCA's and MAO'S were the only classes of drugs being used to treat MDD. The reason the sri drugs are used so often by doctors is because they believe they are much safer and better tolerated. These claims are certainly true but there's still major problems.
pnpny04 3 months ago
Also, if an antidepressant has worked for someone with MDD, you probably noticed the drug didn't work right away. It usually takes 4-6 weeks. Therefore, it's obvious that blocking the uptake of serotonin is only partially responsible for the Antidepressant effect. Drugs like Prozac start blocking the uptake of serotonin immediately upon first dosage yet the person is still suffering. Blocking the re uptake of serotonin day after day is only the first step in a chain link of causal AD effects.

A while the body stops producing the chemicals making the user dependant on the illegal drug. Antidepressants and others are no different from illegal drugs!!! You are taking a chemical to replace what's missing, thereby continuing to fill in just like the illegal drug is needed the prescription becomes needed as well, it's just a different high, one that the gov can tax you on!
mskm13th 4 months ago

You pay for what you get and this applies especially to the antidepressants.
theyear2102 5 months ago
@theyear2102 No, it has nothing to do with generics/brand name's. I was on paxil ONE DAY and had a minor stroke and it was brand name. I couldn't move half my body, could not walk, and could not talk. Ex husband called the doctor and he said that these were the "normal side effects" of this drug. So I didn't go to the hospital 6 months then I started lactating, I hadn't been pregnant in 6+ years, my hair was falling out in chunks, presumed tumor, MRI showed that I had a stroke.

There is plenty of proof what is a chemical imbalance.
a chemical imbalance is caused by a intake problem.
its hard to say what caused the imbalance?
it could be a illegal drug use that caused it.
a chemical imbalance is a internal war.
and the behavior could lead to suicide on a long term bases
for many reasons that are fatigue.
this in fact would leave the drug manafacture wide open to law suits.
AvidSourCreamLover 5 months ago
Look at the word Fluxatine or prozac.
your looking at a influx that is the problem.
and yes prozac is a very safe long term anti deppresant.
for a person looking for quick help.
and alternative medicine is not working or you have a time limit.
the depressed mind does not have the tolerance to wait.
this alls depends on how far the condition has progressed.
and the latent results are extreme greif.
the intake is off or is at flux and talk therapy wont work to well.

Aephqan 5 months ago
@Aephqan Sorry I have to go on this way cause youtube didn't allow me to post that lengthy comment. :D
However this tianeptine enhances serotonin reuptake and gues what it's for? It also brightens your mood. It actually lower your serotonin level and by doing that it really does brighten your mood! That's exactly the opposite of the action of Prozac and so forth.
And now, you have to be the judge!

cont... when we are in a room full of ppl that we love. i feel like social interaction stimulates memory and serotonin. when your with good friends they can pick you up even from the worst of moods. no wonder feeling lonely hurts soooo much. it seems you can trick your brain into a chemical imbalance with behavior. life can actually give you a high just like a drug can. i am totally convinced. these antidepressant are good if you need a boost in the right direction but are bad longterm
TheGncGuru 5 months ago
oh yeah and i would like to add this since this theory makes alot of sense to me. the idea that behavior and chemical imbalances have a direct impact on each other. ppl that are depressed dont exercise, eat properly, and socialize much and this creates a chemical imbalance because your body isnt getting the stimulation it needs. I think the social aspect is the most important because of how our brain is wired. we are social creatures and there is something mysterious that is going on...
TheGncGuru 5 months ago
cont...i feel like that is what makes some ppl go mad from them. you have all this energy and you dont know what to do with it. i took lexapro and i couldnt sleep when thats all i wanted to do because it was just sooooo painful being awake and depressed. sleep was my escape and the meds wouldnt allow it

haha everyone that thinks ssris are just fluorides and "they" are just trying to dumb us down with them are truly misinformed. ssris can really work they dont always make the person a zombie. more or less they give the patient a newfound energy they arent use to which can help them get out of the brainfog or make them go crazy and commit suicide. imagine your brain speeding up from these medications and you dont know what to do with all these thoughts, feelingsand energy you have never hadbefore

i always have found that meditation can cure meditation, however there have only been very few tests to prove that, and although the test have positive results, it still isnt enough to win over the scientific community. i belive that depression is a learned behaviour. caused by thinking the same bad thoughts over and over untill it becomes apart of our personality (neuroplasticity). medition induces a calm happy state of mind, doing it everyday can develop a happy calm personality.

TheGncGuru 6 months ago
damn lexapro worked amazing for me until it stopped working. the first week it sped me up like crazy! everyone thought i was on drugs because my pupils were huge and i was talking really fast but i didnt mind since i was feeling amazing and not depressed. then the next 6 months were great i felt like a new person, i could think outside the box, felt 10 times more articulate. the only thing i didnt know was that i was on a neurological rollercoaster and this would come crashing down hard!

Don't listen to this smartass bitch.
fuunguus 6 months ago
@fuunguus No, this is not a theory..and yes it is CRITICAL thinking. Yes, it is hard to study the cells in action but it is a shot in the dark to presume something is working BECAUSE YOU CANNOT study the cells in action. I hope no one does listen to you being a smartass bitch.
changingmyself 5 months ago
@changingmyself I don't see any reason in being so overly critical over this drugs just because of a lack of absolute certainty. These drugs help a lot of people, I find it very arrogant of her to criticize them with no evidence to the contrary, bitch should just shut up.
fuunguus 5 months ago
@fuunguus Because the side effects are death and suicide. Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and MANY other people have too.
She didn't critisize these pills with no evidence, she used critical thinking skills to evaluate the claims in the booklet that goes out to the doctor.
changingmyself 5 months ago
@changingmyself what about the side effects of Major Deppressive Disorder?? Suicide + death because life sucks? Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and many others have too.

@changingmyself what about the side effects of Major Deppressive Disorder?? Suicide + death because life sucks? Maybe that is no big deal to you because you haven't been effected by it, but I have and many others have too. Your first sentence is so mis leading. At least substitute "are" for "may."
pnpny04 3 months ago
@pnpny04 Actually, I have, and had you actually read what I said, you would have seen that I had been effected by it, otherwise, how would I know the side effects of the pills? Oh, yeah that's right, because I have taken them. Not one, but several of them.
No, my first sentence isn't misleading, the side effects ARE death and suicide, not everyone has the same side effects and I never claimed that they did.
changingmyself 3 months ago
@changingmyself Not everyone is effected directly (i.e. harm to a loved one would effect me!).The side effects you speak of "may include..."But If I wanted to discourage anyone from trying an SRI, stating "death and suicide are side effects"should frighten them > enough. Now I thought you were effected indirectly because if you did experience these side effects 1st hand, what in the world are you doing here? Now you're saying science has proven ur claim first hand w/o considering other variables?
pnpny04 3 months ago
@pnpny04 Here is what it says at the Government website:
A small number of children, teenagers, and young adults (up to 24 years of age) who took antidepressants ('mood elevators') such as paroxetine during clinical studies became suicidal (thinking about harming or killing oneself or planning or TRYING to do so).
Does it say that other variables? NO. SPECIFICALLY: those that took antidepressants BECAME SUICIDAL. I not only became suicidal, every thought I had was about death.
changingmyself 3 months ago
@changingmyself Okay,so it's true in some cases people experience suicidal ideation and that's awful.I'm not saying black box warnings shouldn't come along with antidepressants.Nor am I saying they should be taken off the shelves.I'm assuming they never will be if the benefits outweigh the potential harmful effects. That doesn't make your situation any less serious. As far as variables I was talking more about statistics outside of controlled settings (if there's any) where big Pharm. had to pay
pnpny04 3 months ago
@fuunguus Also, the only one acting like a bitch here...is YOU. If you don't like what someone says, move on or debate it her with FACTS that she is wrong. You are critisizing HER with no facts...and you aren't using critical thinking to do it.

@changingmyself These drugs help people, that is a fact. SSRI's increase serotonin in the brain, that is a fact and easily measurable. How exactly it does this is not completely understood, but it is thought to inhibit serotonin re-uptake.
fuunguus 5 months ago
@fuunguus You didn't back it u p with EVIDENCE...saying something doesn't make it fact. You are doing what you CLAIMED that she did.
changingmyself 5 months ago
@changingmyself Youtube is the worst place to have an open discussion. I wont cite sources cause it is just a hassle. You clearly haven't done any research yourself, if you are ignorant to any of this then I urge you to do so cause the information, or evidence, isn't exactly hidden.
fuunguus 5 months ago
@fuunguus Wow, but yet, here you are, on youtube, attempting to debate it...
Your ASSUMPTION of me not having done any research is just that...an ASSumption. I have not only done my research, I had taken these pills for years and the side effects were DEVESTATING to me.
As someone else mentioned here...it only MASKS the depression. It doesn't cure it.
changingmyself 5 months ago

It makes you loose your mind and will destroy it. The peaple in the FDA that allows this and the Doctors prescibing it should executed and burn in hell.It destroys minds and famlies.

I was wondering what you thought of these drugs?
shogun996 6 months ago
@shogun996 I have used critical thinking in a way that the ELITE dont realize how Google search engine has designed itself to give me all the answers. You think i'm kidding?? search methods are everything when rebuilding the psychi thru search engine. Its a much deeper meaning, while ALL are watching. This is my ability of study. As i have had a very easy assessment of Bupropion to still display symptoms that do not inhibit any response!. The placebo effect is not the case with PSMatrix.
LendMeYourHand 6 months ago

You make up your own mind.
crispy336 7 months ago
@crispy336 Who are you babbling to, did you forget how to work the "reply" button? Who is "venerating ghost writers"? The only one venerating writers of any kind here is you. Yes drug companies do the wrong thing some times, when they do this they are prosecuted. This year Forest was fined over 100 million, it wasn't for antidepressents or any kind of psychiatric medication, it was for a drug treating hyperthyroidism. Should we throw out all medical drugs because of cases like this?

Have you ever heard aboout evidence based medicine? Eventhough the therapeutic mechanism is not fully understood, we know that these meds are efficient. This is a fact.
vesamicol 7 months ago
@vesamicol NO! The evidence is in the drug companies own trials that they failed to publish. They were revealed to work no better then placebo AND they were aware that they caused suicidal and homicidal ideation. They did not consider it necessary to tell the FDA or MHRA(UK) this. Therapeutic evidence?? Why do you think GSK and other pharma co.s have been and are being sued and paying out millions in costs. Are you employed by them?

It's sad that many people fall for big Pharma's marketing hook line and sinker.
If you take the time to read some of these studies and think about what you are reading you will notice that often the study constraints help reach the conclusion the drug company wants or omit to give information about long term effectiveness.
While many drugs do work as described, there is a cost -side effects. Often there are better/safer & cheaper alternatives to drugs that get ignored.
