These guys are all wearing 1st Cav. patches, Pleiku was 4th Infantry. 1st Cav was down in An Khe, further east and not as far into the central highlands if my 40+ years ago memory serves me right. I flew door gun out of Camp Enari when I was back at base camp and did shotgun on a couple of Civic Action convoys. I was in Camp Enari the night the TET offensive started. Lots of mortars. Only a few killed but a bunch of Hueys blown up.

Where ever this was, it was NOT in Pleiku, or anywhere near that town. While I served as the S-5 (Civil Affairs Officer), in Camp Enari, near Pleiku, I was also responsible for the medics who tried to make the hard lot of the nearby Jarai tribesmen a lot more bearable. When the Montagnard women told me that they had faced enemy soldiers near our village, I requested 12 soldiers from base camp operations. I got 8, mostly cooks, clerks, and bottle washers. We held off the VC, but just barely!
