  • Gonna build wifey a few now with some old 3 glass double pane glass doors. Thanks for the vid!

Awesome dogs by the way. Wanna trade one for a couple cats? ;-)

  • @BADBRYZ good to hear you're building them, i'm allergic to cats, FYI... eric - GardenFork

  • Another great video Eric. I'm big fan of your work. I live in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Our winters are (usually) a little colder than yours. I would LOVE to grow fresh greens all winter. Any idea if this would work up here?

  • @sftravis you might want to check out Eliot Coleman's 4 season gardener book about growing in winter. the cold frame will definitely help. thanks for watching, eric - GardenFork

  • That vent's a good idea. thanks for the video.

  • @swanz199 thanks for watching, we post new vids each week, you can subscribe to and get an email when we post new shows, thx, eric GardenFork

  • first off i am a feshman in highschool and i love your vidios! and second my dad is almost just like you hes a carpenter, gardener and loves dogs, but he build his a little different, he used two windows and joined them together on one side with two henges and made a box that had a peak on each end so when th windowssat on top it lookd like a house and he fastend one side and that way he had a little house shape and he could lift up one of the widows vent it. GREAT VID please respond thanks!

  • @RHN415 wow thanks. i hav some more spare windows, and i'm thinking to do a cold frame with windows on both sides like you describe. thanks for watching, eric.

  • You remind me of myself when cutting plywood...lol.

Nice cold frame Eric! And very good way to recycle old windows!

  • @russtex we are expert!

  • I havent built a cold frame, however I do hydroponics ;) Going to try my hand at aquaponics this next spring. You should look into that, it's very interesting!

  • Lead paint is harmless unless directly ingested by either eating it or breathing it as particulate from power sanding or grinding. Don't let state-sponsored mass hysteria scare you so much about the lurking hidden evils within the lead paint. Just don't eat the stuff. Scrape off loose paint with a scraper of whatever kind. DONT sand it off. Coat it with a good primer/sealer, topcoat with an exterior latex and forget about it.

  • I'm a beginner and your video was perfect for my needs. thank you, Ilene

  • @ilelar that's great to hear, thanks for watching. eric.

  • What if the old window has lead paint? The dogs interrupted your thought...

  • @petunia10466 i avoid lead paint. you can buy testing kits at the hardware store to test for it. when lead paints cracks, it looks like small squares or rectangles, from what i've seen.

  • LMAO at 4:05! Hopefully you figured out to not put the straightedge on the cutoff side of the piece. I would be cringing to see you work a tablesaw man. Thanks for a fun vid anyway!

  • @canubelieve i learn as I go, i do have a nice craftsman table saw! thx, eric.

  • @erochow I love these videos because you are just a regular joe and you are making these projects seem possible for anyone to do. And if you didn't make some mistakes that would take away from your show. Keep up the great works.
