excellent. i used to do this with my s2800 back in the day, but had forgotten all about it. i have recently gotten an s1100 (being tired of software only...), so i'm going to take one of my tracks today and make some breaks and accents with this method. thanks for the reminder, and the inspiration.
is that an S1000??? if so... can you make a video on how to get started with it... we just got one for super cheap, and have NO idea how to use it haha
@ParAvionMusic Yes it is. All Akai's samplers between S1000-3000 is roughly the same, so just search on "Akai S Series Sampler" and you will find some useful videos. Congratulations on your purchase :)
@stoffenl thank ya thank ya.... one quick question (which will probably sound odd haha) but, you NEED to have a floppy in it to use it right? like you can only save samples to the floppy and not to the sampler it self
@ParAvionMusic Yes you need a floppy to save what you do, unless it came with external media saving opportunities for the SCSI interface. I save everything from the S1000 to floppy, newer samplers read these disks without problems. S1000 is the most global sampler format in the world!
Is real time control difficult on these rack mounted units? Like when you were changing the time in this video and stuff. Are the filters controlled trough menus and stuff?
Just curious, how much ram are you workin with? if your working that thing with just the 2megs, Im impressed. Im looking into getting one of these babies myself, my akai collection is incomplete without it. I got all the 12 bit I need, just need something more function than my stock S950 and S612.
Good setup mate! Thanks for the elevating words. I don't remember if it's 4 or 6 megs.. But this is a One Disk Projekt; so there's a maximum load of 1.44 megabyte total in that S1000 there.
Thanks for the comment, it's the S1000. Yea it's pretty simple, I'm moving the loop further in the bar (which I sampled from an old disco vinyl) and when it comes to the end, I change the size of it. On my newer S3000XL it's a bit more hassle since it lacks the Cursor wheel. Cheers!

Computers bore the shit out of me. Give me a button or shit to press. I'm still a little kid on the inside.

They're both awesome. I like hardware better live, but when writing, I prefer software.

Love it!! is this a S1100? or S3000? - How are you doing this? moving the start/end? Is that just part of a record (with Kick and vocal part?)
