Utterly SILLY ! I've got endless respect for the abilities of E. Cayce, but this is rubbish. All oracles - I Ching, Tarot, dice, etc. function the same way. The user BELIEVES in what they will say and then goes about making their life and choices conform to a reading from a level below ordinary consciousness. Therefore, oracles don't DO anything or "work" at all. Its the BELIEF in them and then the reaction to what they say by the user which allows what the oracles say to become "true" .
Equally, if you actually read the content of the I Ching or Tarot, you can find multiple meanings for each element ! Like the Bible, you can find everything and anything in it that you want to find !!!! This is part of Priest Craft. Promoters of this trash construct it so that it is so general and vague that anyone can find anything about anything within it. The "advice" therefore, is SILLY NONSENSE and it is the BELIEF of the user which makes it happen. There is no mystical connection that
that can FORETELL the future or one's fortune. It ALL falls on self-fulfilling prophecy. The user BELIEVES and then actualizes what he believes in.
BELIEF CREATES REALITY. Therefore, why not BELIEVE IN YOURSELF instead of in outside authorities like these oracles, or other occult rubbish, or gods or demons, or spirits, or stars, or numerology, or priests and swindlers who promote it all?
Notice that all priests never tell you to BELIEVE in yourself, but instead to believe in all outside stuff?
Edgar Cayce never needed an oracle or give his readings. He was tainted by religion and so the content of his readings reflects it in the language and terms he used. But this flaw is minor. The important point is that Cayce BELIEVED in his own abilities and actualized them - more and more over time.
People who believe in oracles never do much in their lives. And what do you know? With all the mystical connections oracles are supposed to have, they sure don't cause very much progress !
@GaleZMe If we all live in our own reality tunnels and if we choose to believe in something, the I-Ching, whatever; then how is that not reality to the observer?
There is no objective reality. No one sees all of this, or experiences it the same way.
It seems to me by the length of your comments, you are the type that believes that his reality tunnel is the only real one. Am I right?
@IndeedmyFriend I didn't read what GaleZMe wrote, but you describe earlier in your comment exactly that, one's reality tunnel IS the only real one. I know you ask him if this suppose that he must think this way, but you do as well, because it is so. One's reality tunnel is the only real one because it is theirs. Reality is only in our mind and made up in our minds, not out in the exterior. The exterior holds data and our minds turn it into reality. Reality is perception which is subjective.

@okay081 It's just a methodology to construct the 6 yao which make one of the 64 hexagrams. There are other methods to contrusct the hexagrams. Such as, counting yarrow stalks. 3 coins is a more modern method than the yarrow stalks. Why it matters is because, as was speculated in the video, is that it makes a connection with the questions you have for the I-Ching. The Universe is, as I see it, primarily conciousness and that is why this I-Ching works to great effect.
@jimmyjamesWang In a way, most definitely. However, it is based on very ancient knowledge that OUR translation of reality is, to a great affection, mathematics based. The math involved in the I-Ching can be very complicated when you put the numbers against a cosmological backdrop. The formulas you can develop with it can be alarmingly accurate when you overlay them throughout any period in history. By accurate, I mean, tracking the ebbs and flows of "things".
@MBW600 Conciousness. I am of the thought that conciousness is the ultimate in making the Universal reality. We simply share that conciousness and are able to create things with it due to our powerful brains. Think of reality as a product of, not only, our conciousness, but, all animals, insects and plants (plus the Greater Conciousness). The coins will fall as they may. Before, during and after, you should be meditating on your questions while you chart your hexagrams.
the most accurate way to get information from the i-ching is to use the yarrow stalk method, instead of flipping coins. this gives you an equal chance of attaining any kua. though it is more time consuming, it is what the ancients used to use. wu wei has a series of books teaching the yarrow stalk method and the i-ching.
@matthewjames83 Yes, I agree! There are a few demonstrations on youtube. Time consuming, yes. However, I think a greater connection is made using that method.
Does anyone know deeper meanings with the I-Ching, not just for it being related to fortune telling? Is there anything that teach's how you can use it for your life with understanding change/working with change better instead of just getting an answer every so often?
yes...you must read The Complete I Ching by Alfred Huang. The I Ching is a deep deep deep expression of Tao. Also check out Terence Mckenna and the I Ching (youtube videos)...not a "traditional' viewpoint, but he does have an understanding of the I Ching's deep logos.
Huang's translation is the best...just read the texts about the hexagrams, forget about divination...time and cycles are an interplay between Initiating (Yang) and Responding (Yin)...
Self Communication, based on multiple possibilities within parameters. If those parameters are morals then that limits any chance of any hexagram appearing, or even negates it. Morals are internal not external. I am also interested in the methodology of the I Ching as documented and esoteric knowledge as a methodolgy. Coins are more associated with wealth and or exchange when duty and loyalty to morals contribute more to ones path in life and future.
This video is an excellent reminder of the nature of reality. One can view produced hexagrams as images of states within which our powerful Will moves and operates.
I agree. The thing is, the I-ching has a good "approach" to life situations, in which, most people might want to peer into and find meaning, then direction.
Looking back, from experiencing it with sincerity, the i-ching kinda helps to shape the perspective on any given situation, and sets the person and gives him/her an approach.
Overall, I think the more creative the person is, the better he gets "guidance" from the i-ching. Don't do it too often though. Once a month may be enough.
thanks for the great explanation.I have one question: say I asked a question to set up a business or date a girl and the hexagram 29(Abysmal) came then it changed to 5 hexagram(Waiting),now,i get that I shoud not do that business or date the girl but for HOW LONG? how long a reading is valid? can I ask the same question in 1,2,3 months?how we figure out the timing issue on I-ching reading? many thanks for your reply.Best,Mike
Facts are very important, Mike. A 3 10 year old cannot possibly "concieve an idea" compared to say, a very experienced 40 year old. The idea is to use it to "mirror" or "focus" your perspective on a subject. What does 29 (and the chaneline) inspire you to do? Do you think it's a good idea? Can it be backed by real facts, issues, opportunities that are actually there?
The point is to use it as a tool to help you focus, or better yet, get a starting point of deliberating a certain subject. :)
Like, say 29->27 doesn't say to stop and wait. (as I see it) But it suggests to accept that there are dangers, that one needs to have a fallback position just in case, to keep things simple, and not get crowded into losing the way. Then it speaks of nourishing, taking care, making things grow, being supportive, constructive, or helping things out for betterment. I'm not sure, but it's really up to you. :)
You can ask 'related' questions immediately following the first one and build up a larger contextual understanding. You 'wait' for however long it takes for events (external or internal) to unfold and reveal an obvious way forward, probably in an altogether different direction - this is moving in harmony with the Tao.
it should have never been pronounced as i ching because in Chinese, it is E and then Jing not ching. i really have no clue how they came up with ching.
its amazing but, its just not possible. Maybe becuse the human mind is so focused on its going to get it right when ur answer comes to you, you find a way for it best suits you. But you never know, who am i too say lol.
I use the I Ching that the A. R. E. has on line. I like it a lot. It has the traditional I Ching as well as the comments developed through the Cayce readings. I would also like to add that you don't just throw the I Ching, you wait for the still point inside where you feel "connected " and then throw for your answer. It always amazes me when I ask the same question in a new way and come up with the same answer!
your higher Self= the inner soul. This is NOT the consciousness that we expierence all day it is the true loving godly feeling that makes you completely happy and satisfied with everything you know. you realize we're all the very same and from the very same source...
i still have no idea how to approach this book. And then how to decipher the results after i toss the coins.
