they're not laughing because thai sounds funny. in fact as a cantonese speaker i would say thai and cantonese sound a lot alike. they're just laughing because colour in thai=si, and si=shit in cantonese. so whenever tony said a colour (e.g. rainbow=lei lai si, which is “you shat in your pants” in cantonese), it just made a funny phrase. i realize why people who don't know cantonese are offended, but it really wasn't meant to be that way.
