What an unresistable bewitching surge of sound! It mirrors exactly everything what she is doing with all of her physique. To say simply Singing Actress would be too miserly - shall I say Singing Sorceress?
Incredible & mighty stage presence, extremely nuanced body language, dramatic weave of tone colours in the voice -- a singing actress par excellence. Brava!
She is NOT a dramatic soprano. She is a falçon: a soprano with mezzo-ish timbre, high tessitura, short top, most mezzo roles are too low for her. (Notable exception: CARMEN.) And, Carmen is comfortable for most sopranos until you get to the card scene.
Is she a mezzo or a soprano? her timbre is somewhat mezzoish, and this role is for a mezzo (the tessitura is terrible central, and there are no high C's)
I like her scenic presence, her aura. She always seems "big" on stage. And when she bows at the end of the opera she is always CHIC. Beautiful voice color, too.
One cannot sing "Medea" without a voice, which was one of Antonacci's GREAT triumphs in the theater. Not to mention Elisabetta in Maria Stuarda. Perhaps you have a different definition of "voice" than I.
Si te refieres a adornos, hay los suficientes de acuerdo a la partitura y el estilo. Si te refieres a que no hizo los mismos adornos que otra cantante, eso es cuestión de criterios interpretativos.
what was simplified??? have you looked at the score? and this is classical period, the less is more. Dont' believe in recordings, here you can even listen to the complete aria, with no cuts, and with proper embellishments.
This is NOT a "simplified" version. It is the score that Muti worked on, using primary sources. This aria has been "ornamented" to death over the years. I'm not sure what edition you are studying, but I'll trust that Muti has done his homework. I personally find the over ornamented versions (see some famous sopranos below) are in the POOREST taste imaginable. Are we unaware of WHO is making the ornament choices here? RICCARDO MUTI. Enough said?
Primero, en la partitura de esta aria no hay coloraturas. Segundo, es clasicismo, los adornos son muy sutiles, y la cantante sí adorna dentro del estilo. Opinar con información, por favor.
Anna has sung mezzo and soprano roles and is equally at home in both..Not since Giulietta Simionato have I heard such a wonderful voice and Anna rivals Callas in her acting abilities.
Imagine if Scorsese were totally forgotten and Tarantino were considered the best director ever. That's pretty much the equivalent of Paisiello with his 90-odd operas of divine beauty being passed over in favor of imitator Mozart's final three or four.
What a beautiful interpretation! Antonaaci has one of the warmest voices I've ever heard, it's such a unique voice that I can't say whether she's a soprano or a mezzo. Its sensual, expressive and vibrant tone is amazing! Her style is also impeccable, as well as her technique - and is she cute?!! ;-D
I also didn't know this aria, it's very beautiful, a great discovery!! ;-)
magnifica davvero

she is most likely a dramatic soprono. which will explain the mezzoish timbre

Non credo proprio che questa aria sia "orribile"....è una delle più belle di Paisiello e di tutta la musica napoletana del '700.

Why sing a semplified song? Is she unable to use abbellimenti? Perhaps she is enough beautiful not to need to know how to sing !

this IS actually a simplified version. i'm studying this piece and following along, and my copy has many more runs that go higher.
