  • do you run this thru a transfer switch to power your house?

  • @ab9957 no this is only for temp use. see my video: "Winco standby generator test" ...but the transfer switch can only be seen in the video: "Sump Pump - The Movie part 2" (at 2:05)

  • I got one of them, It Sound's just like it... I'm swapping it for a Quieter one, I use it for My caravan, and I don't wanna cause much off a Din. Greetings from Cheshire, UK :-)

  • @MrFasttrack1 agree these are loud units however very good quality. take a look at the video (and listen) to the Honda EU2000 I bought last year. it's very quiet and runs excellent. I just put it in the back of my truck a short time ago, to use tomorrow at an all day Cushman Scooter Meet, to power the sound system. cheers from Chicago and thank you for watching my video. -Kat

  • Question. If you buy something like this on ebay how do you get this shipped?Do they deliver it to your home?

  • @lazimofo90 this one was a local pickup. to ship a large or heavy item you find a freight company that's in the area. shipping large items depends on the seller, some won't ship heavy items or it's not cost effective to ship.

  • chatrkat, thankyou very much for your reply. i forgot to mention that my generator is not honda, but craftman. do you know much about generators? if so im having problems with mine. my name is richard thanks

  • @harmonicsl I sent you a message on this.

  • sir, i have a question, i noticed you have afluke multitester. i also have a generator, and anentry level multitester. when i plug in my multi tester, such as you have here, you get a steady reading of 120 when i plug in mine, it fluctuates fro 120to i23 it that normal, or it it because my multitester is cheap, or something wrong with my generator?

  • @harmonicsl my best guess would be your generator output is fluctuating a little, but don't worry about that small amount. Honda generators tend to be very stable, provided the engine is running correctly. you can test your meter by putting the probes in your home wall receptacle, it should hold steady if not then the meter is failing.

  • @flanksteak2 yes, you would not want to sit next to this machine when it's running. check out my test of the EU2000i done recently.

  • @chatrkat I worked at a Shop that sold these and bought my parents this exact model back in 1996.

    It was $899.00 back then.......

  • @flanksteak2 I'm sure it still starts and runs like the day it was new. I like almost everything Honda makes. ...I ended up keeping this one and bought my sister the 5kw extended run model. there's a video of that one too!

  • @chatrkat It does.

The 5000W model is a much better choice, that way you get a full 20 AMPS on each pole which means you can use a coffee maker or space heater and at least 1 other device on a circuit without popping the breaker on the generator.

  • @flanksteak2 I knew 3.5 kw was a little small for a house but the $ was too good to pass up. It was a good temporary back up until I found the bigger unit within my price range. I love how easy they start even in colder weather.

  • Have fun seeing that thing start really nice in the winter... lol idk if it gets cold out there but yeah I had to pull the string about 25 times..

  • God Honda engines in their little lawn engines and in their cars make this wining noise that just bugs the shit out of me. Briggs and stratton engines are damn near silent other then the exhaust but thats the same with any engine.

  • @frosty9595 I'll have to pay attention next time I'm running them since I have both mfrs engines. Can't complain all my B&S equipment always starts easy and runs fine too.

  • Does Honda specify the voltage distortion on this model? Small generators like this are notorious for their poor power quality. The voltage readings my $300 generator under varying loads look great too, but once you see the output with an oscilloscope it's a different story. Is this model recommended for use with electronic equipment?

  • @EyeSquaredAre I can't say as I've never put a scope on the output. According to Honda, all their Inverter type generators are 100% safe for sensitive devices. I've not seen a problem using these non-inverter type made by Honda. I would not be as comfortable with a Chinese unit. I ended up keeping this one myself and bought a 5kw Honda for the relative. The video is up.

  • Always spend the money for the Honda, you can make all the excuses you want to, but in the end you'll be happier with your decision, not to mention the money you saved by not buying Chinese crap! I know, I've been through more than a few gen-sets before settling on a HONDA!!!!

  • @Mrphatbastard1 agree, you get what you pay for with these machines.

  • for our power outages, i use a variety of 2 generators. 1 is a lincon weldanpower g8000 and the other is a lincon weldanpower g7500. Both very nice electric start generators to keep handy, not so light though.

  • @motaluva6 I'm familiar with those, definitely nice equipment.

  • Nice genset!! might get on to annoy the neighbours or the whole street to be precise...

  • yes, they will be dark and mad. LOL

  • 0:59

  • yes, you did see a fade. the first time I pulled the recoil clutch didn't engage correctly and made a "clink" noise. the engine started but the noise annoyed me.

  • Nice Generator there. It has a GX240 engine rated 7.1 HP at 3600 RPM with a bore of 73mm and stroke of 58mm. Sometime if you can, please show it running (2) 1500 Watt portable heaters. Make it grunt some. LOL

  • thank you! ...next time, MORE LOAD!!!!

  • Nice little unit. Honda sure makes nice stuff...

  • A real test measures speed, voltage and current close to rated power. Look at Linn State Technical College load test for a Honda test.

  • I agree, a 1500 watt load is not much on this generator, also I didn't check the frequency on the video. I appreciate the comment, thanks.

  • Wow that thing starts as awesome as my Briggs 3500W and Honda EM500 generators.

chatrkat you should check out my videos about them, Honda's and Brigg's are my favorite brand of engines! :)

  • I'll watch 'em

  • thats how my old 5hp B&S mower started.

  • nothin wrong with a good B&S either. I'm not too fond of the new ones tho.

  • How much do those units go for brand new?

  • the EG3500 is still a current model average $1300. +/- depending where you buy. BTW: I like the "tune up" vid you sent.

  • $1300 doesn't sound too bad. I've been trying to get the parents to buy a generator. National grid keeps laying people off around here ... if the power goes out it's going out for a while.

  • LOL i just bought a brand new 5000 honda for 1000 out the door.

  • enjoy!
